There are so many great restaurants in the Windy City, but Mon Ami Gabi in the old Belden-Stratford hotel lobby is my favorite for so many reasons. The atmosphere is wonderful - elegant and yet comfortable. It's white-linen service that reeks of classic French ambiance. The waitstaff is skilled and at your service without being overbearing. They are exceptionally well-trained and make this a career, not a part-time job. The cuisine is French without question.
The menu is well thought-out, and there's literally something for everyone. Unlike so menu pretentious restaurants, the prices are more than reasonable for Chicago, and price aside, the food is excellent. There are specials posted on the chalkboard, but beware - they go fast, and unless you dine early, you might miss them.
For starters, try the French onion soup au gratin or an hors d'oeuvre of the chicken liver mousse pate. For entrees, I highly recommend the trout almondine. It's done to perfection and is not drenched it sauce - just brown butter and lemon to capture the trout's full flavor.
Fabulous French Food Experience. Add to wish list. To my companion in Gothenburg. Hello, my dear friend , sorry to interrupt so rudely. My friend Li Mu Bai.
Sticking with Les Poissons fish , the caramelized sea scallops are to die for. If seafood is not your forte, they have a whole list of steaks that are equally wonderful. It's located in a charming area of Lincoln Park West, and it's easily accessible by bus or taxi. This is one place when visiting Chicago you don't want to overlook. We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi with wine, soup gazpacho and French onion are both great , dinner steak frites, salmon and scallops were all fabulous , and dessert a combination of the profiteroles and bananas foster crepes were insanely delicious.
Service was excellent, we didn't feel rushed at all, and we had a meal and evening to remember. This is one of Lettuce Entertain You's more expensive restaurants, so we save it as a time-to-time special treat. They offer a brunch you don't see many places! They had Eggs Benedict in a couple of different ways, and I had the Bacon and asparagus quiche that had eggs that were so fluffy, when I cut it, it looked like cheesecake Their menu is on website!
This is kid friendly and by the look of my grandkids plates, the chocolate waffles were great!!! I Don't think you will be disappointed! First of all you get a real baguette or two dropped on your table before you even lift your water glass. The accompanying butter isn't d'Isigny, but it suffices. The wine selections are pretty good, including an outstanding Chateauneuf du Pape. The onion soup is hot and savory. My companions had steaks, perfectly cooked and by all accounts delicious.
I had chosen a warm goat cheese salad. Service is relaxed, for a leisurely meal.

If you're in a hurry, maybe look for some fast food. It was a beautiful evening. We had returned from spending the day at Navy Pier. We were all hungry and decided to go to Mon Ami and sit outside on the patio.
