I'm not a fan of the real life reality shows that deal with finding love, but I loved this book Marrying Mister Perfect. Lou and Jack have been best friends since high school. Since four years ago have lived together, Jacks wife had died and left him with two small children to raise. Lou stepped up to help raise the kids and take care of the house while he worked as a heart surgeon.
Why wouldn't she, they were best friends, but little did Jack know that Lou had secretly been in love with him for years. Lou could never tell him, she is not his type. Jack could always count on his best friend Lou to be there. They were best buds. She was helping him raise his children, taking care of his home.
One day a friend of theirs came home to visit for a family wedding, she was the producer of the Mister Perfect reality show. She thought that Jack would be the perfect man for the show. When Jack agreed, he did so with Lou's feelings in mind, feeling maybe he was holding her back from living her life. He goes on the show to find his happily ever after. Many many wonderful exotic dates with beautiful women later he starts to realize that maybe the woman of his dreams might just be the best friend he left at home.
When he realizes this he needs to find a way to make her see that they are meant for each other. Can he do that without ruining their friendship and take it further. I have to admit I got angry with Lou through a lot of this book, but that was okay, this was a very down to earth realistic relationship.
I loved how Lou was so determined to let Jack know how she felt about him one moment and scared to death and changed her mind the next. To see her come out of her shell a bit was wonderful. To see Jack open his own eyes was terrific. I loved how the characters could be you or me in this book, just normal every day people trying to find their way in this big world, and wanting someone to love by their side while doing it.
It shows all the insecurities most of us have, and none of us want.
I am so happy I got this book and will get the next one in the series too!!! Lou has turned into the perfect wife and mother.
When a mutual friend who is a producer for a reality dating show puts a little question in each of their ears, she gets the results she wants. Low had been so certain that Jack would never do it that she gave Miranda the go ahead to try to convince him.
Yes, there had always been an attraction between Jack and Louisa, but neither one acted on it. Why mess up a best friend relationship over something that might ruin everything?
Editorial Reviews. Review. ~An Evernight Editor's Pick!~ stars! A Night Owl Reviews Shane's Submission (Romance on the Go) by [Leaf, Erin M. ]. Shane and Leo have been best friends forever—through high school, dating disasters, and family losses. Lately though, Shane has been feeling more and more.
Yet, Lou is incredulous that Jack would actually put himself through a reality dating show. And then hurt and perhaps a bit mad that he did. And once Jack realized that what he needed was already at home he did his best to fix everything. I enjoyed Marrying Mister Perfect. See all reviews. When I choose a book to read, I look at the title and cover first. It's a thing for me. I really liked the cover of this one, but the title was a little iffy - kind of generic - seen it before i'm sure Anyway, next step is read the free sample to see if the writing style is up to par - well, my par. It got me hooked at half a page.
So clicked on "buy" and waited to start reading on my way home on the bus. Well, let me tell 'ya, almost missed my stop at home thank God the driver knows me, so I didn't end up ways off! It was that good! And it takes a lot for me to get spaced out. Went home, did the obligatory talk with my peeps, and got back to it!
This writer is smart, intuitive to human emotions, interactions etc etc. It gets you thinking, feeling, wanting, hoping I never thought it made sense for someone to review a book and give the plot away, so I'm just gonna say, as plainly as I can, to just "buy this book already! I would make a movie out of this, and let today's teens see a different kind of love. So yes, this book deserves the 5-star rating.
So glad I have it in my favorites - will definitely revisit someday in the near future. Leeann, you're my kind of gal! Overall, this book was good. It had a dark side to it, which wasn't bacd, I just would tend to stay away from this if your parents are going through a rough divorce. The story line was quickly evolving and kept me interested. One person found this helpful. I read reviews by others and took a chance on this story. I wasn't crazy about the title or picture, but the story grabbed me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down.
Wow, will watch for other books by this author! This book hooked me from the first page. I loved the storyline but had a little bit of a surprising twist. I am obsessed with this book the way Dare was obsessed with Mel. I wasn't finished with their story nd now I want to read it all over again.
When you think it's over its not. Their love will continue to progress over time.
In my opinion, it was just too much, too dark, too depressing. Both because it was bordering on what I found realistic, but especially because I read this kind of stuff for a nice, happy experience, letting me escape from reality and come back happy and giddy from the romance. Here, I was mostly just depressed I'm impressed our main character never considered self harm or suicide, 'cos she seemed like a very likely candidate for it: I kept reading anyway, because the writing was really good.
And I'm giving it 4 stars because some people might like this dark romance better than me. Dare never had to go home to take care of him because his mother has abandoned the kid, never worries about him, etc.
I have a 4 year old kid and I've had a little brother with approximately the same age difference in a very well-functioning family and my heart cried for this kid the entire book, that no-one, not even the author, seemed to really care about: Another point is that I honestly don't think that Dare is healthy for Mel. The author might have decided that she thinks that he's good for her, but come on! She's bordering on a breakdown and he is pushy to the point of controlling, downright obsessive, deeply unstable, aggressive, brings her to parties to drink and encourages her to run away with him?
But I never really understood why she loved him The characters and story is so relatable.
