It seems to be suffering from what shall henceforth be known as the Paranormal Activity effect: In this film it took about 20 minutes for me to get bored and start half watching for a while until the ending.
The alien theory was mostly to do with the fact that early newspaper reports claimed the Mary Celeste crew left the ship in an eerily immaculate condition, with food still laid out on the table, and the last log entry being written just before it was discovered. The third movie produced by the production company "Dark Castle" and managed by Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis, "Ghost Ship" marks a step forward and constitutes a neat improvement in comparison with the two previous movies, "the House on the Haunted Hill" and "13 Ghosts" In my books it well worth a watch! The weight of the gold and the time he loses in getting it led to Murphy's demise. Ferriman is blown to pieces in the explosion and Katie helps Epps escape the sinking ship.
The only major attractions of the film are the ending after the bit that belonged in a PG or a U to be honest, that bit was ripped off from Pokemon The First Movie! But for those people who have taste and want to watch a good horror film, let this movie sink like the Titanic!
This was not a scared-to-death type.
Just another watchable horror movie. It had a good attention-catching starting but it got messed up eventually. I liked Emily Browning over here. More Top Movies Trailers.

Yes No Report this. The other end of the rope was frayed. Navigational implements, including a sextant, were missing from the bridge. The strongest clue was centred on the one missing lifeboat. With no visible signs of violence or theft, it looked like the ship had been abandoned in a great hurry; perhaps a moment of terror or sheer panic. Members of the Dei Gratia crew sailed the Mary Celeste to Gibraltar, where a British vice admiralty court began a salvage hearing.
This was to decide whether the Dei Gratia crewmen were entitled to payment from the insurers of the Mary Celeste as compensation for bringing the ship to safety. But, due to the mysterious nature of the case, the Attorney-General suspected mischief and launched a three-month investigation. The ship was spotted off the coast of Portugal sailing erratically, apparently unmanned. All kinds of theories were tested, but one theory that became the most popular was that the Mary Celeste was attacked by pirates who murdered the crew and threw the bodies overboard.
Also, there were no signs of violence or any kind of a struggle. The fact that the cargo and all personal belongings were untouched meant the pirate theory was not plausible. Nobody really believed pirates would go to the trouble of taking a boat and murdering the crew only to leave the ship with its entire cargo. According to the New England Historical Society, the judge in the case, Frederick Solly Flood, suspected the Mary Celeste was abandoned due to criminal activity — but, along with everyone else that examined the case, he had no idea exactly what happened. There were scant clues left, but one lifeboat had been taken from the boat as well as navigational equipment.
The alien theory was mostly to do with the fact that early newspaper reports claimed the Mary Celeste crew left the ship in an eerily immaculate condition, with food still laid out on the table, and the last log entry being written just before it was discovered.
This ended up being untrue because the last log was written several days before discovery and there was no food on the table. Benjamin Briggs, captain of Mary Celeste. When the ship was first inspected, unusual markings were found inside the ship that some believed were caused by a weapon — possibly an axe. There were also strange markings that were thought to be blood stains. The crew had all been hand-picked by Captain Briggs; sailors with impeccable records.
Despite a search for the crew in ports around the world, not a single crew member from Mary Celeste was ever found. Many theories centred on the idea that the ocean caused the disappearance.
