Whether she writes as J. Robb or under her own name, I love Nora Roberts. It is being held off planet at fancy resort owned by you know who and they hope to sneak in some holiday time. That would have been nice for these two but there is no escaping murder for Eve or Peabody for that matter! I have to say, Peabody is a shining star in these books. Her relationship with Eve is great. I love that she has a huge crush on Roarke and flaunts it out front of Eve.
She makes me laugh.
Here is my first pass. She always struggles with her words.
She does have her sweet moments but it is moments like this that I love the most. Two lost souls into one steady unit.

There are h A very short and fast read with a simple mystery but lot's of angle to it. There are heavy undertones of feminism in this book and I really enjoyed reading it. View all 5 comments. Robb never disappoints me Ahhh this story was short but still it was so damn good.

But, its never going to be a holiday or any downtime for Eve, is it? Think it was originally included in some other anthology. Her breathing was short, shallow and he heard it catch, release on a strangled gasp when he drove her over the first peak. His own blood raged as he crushed his mouth to her again, and plunged inside her. She heard him murmuring something -- the language of his youth, so rarely used, slid exotically around her name.
I seriously want to be Eve. She is one of the best heroines I have ever read. And Roarke's not too shabby either!! Interlude in Death 4 Stars At an off-planet law enforcement conference, Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds herself investigating the violent death of a man with whom she had a previous altercation. The case becomes even more fraught when it becomes clear that Roarke is being framed for the crime. This is the 2nd novella in the series and is, despite its shorter length, a self-contained story.
Even though the motive for the crime is never in doubt, the investigation is still compelling mainly due to the Interlude in Death 4 Stars At an off-planet law enforcement conference, Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds herself investigating the violent death of a man with whom she had a previous altercation. Even though the motive for the crime is never in doubt, the investigation is still compelling mainly due to the insights into Roarke's backstory and a couple of very suspenseful moments.
There are also some hints at deeper connections between Eve and Roarke that are very tantalizing and it will be interesting to see the direction in which Robb takes them. In sum, a short yet sweet addition to the series. Sep 12, Shawna rated it really liked it Shelves: Like a cat did, she thought. A big, dangerous cat that only pretended to be tame when it suited his mood. His hair was black and thick and longer than her own.
It spilled nearly to his shoulders and provided a perfect frame for a face that made her think of dark angels and doomed poets and ruthless warriors all at once. Mar 30, Cyndi rated it it was amazing. Reread July — every time I read this novella I always think its out of sequence. Women should be care givers and children must respect their parents and carry the sins of their fathers. Jun 24, Adi Reading in the Windowseat rated it really liked it Shelves: How Robb manages to make the In Death novellas as good as the novels, I do not know, but she does. This was fast and enthralling, funny and with a hint of exotic, what with the stage being set off-planet and on the Olympus Resort. The characters were a good surprise and put Eve to the test - whether she's good at fighting those pesky little vices called prejudice and personal disdain, which plague everyone at one point or another.

She came out the victor, putting her issues aside and going through the hoops of an investigation with clear thought and poise. It makes one admire a fictional character enough to wish all cops were like her - human, but smart and loyal.
Jan 13, Anita rated it it was amazing Shelves: At always a good plot, romance and a story that builds our knowledge of both Roarke and Eve. The novella format can be tricky for some authors, but this great. Lieutenant Eve Dallas is all set to give a seminar at a conference of cops. Roarke has managed to get them to book this conference on his fantastic resort planet of Olympus and is interested in stealing some time away with Eve.

Alas, murder takes the center stage, or staircase in this case, and Eve decked the guy just hours before he is killed. Apr 30, Diane rated it it was amazing Shelves: This is my favourite novella - great case - get to meet Chief Angelo and also get to see a bit more of Roarke's vision - Olympus. Plus another tie-in - Roarke's father and Eve's! Dec 09, Aly is so frigging bored rated it it was amazing Shelves: Aww, I'd forgotten we get an inner grip of Roarke's past in this one. He and Eve are both miracles to have remade themselves.
This is a nice novella in the In Death world. The novella manages to pack in many of the same elements of the novels including the humor, romance, the large cast of characters, and an intriguing mystery. Eve has one of the challenges of her career when she is supposed to give a speech of all things at a police convention at Roarke's off-planet Olympus resort. When one of the attendees ends up murdered, Eve is on the case. The case is complicated by Eve having an altercation with the victim and his boss's obsession with bringing down Roarke.
This is a nice "interlude" in the series. It has all the elements in the full length novels, but manages to compact everything into less than pages. I especially enjoyed that the story gives Eve and Roarke a significant amount of time together and yet there is plenty of time for action, for interaction with important characters in the series pretty much all Eve's colleagues , nuggets about Eve and Roarke's pasts, and some sexy moments as well.
The story happens quickly and if there is any complaint it is that the mystery is not deep, but one cannot expect much more of a short novella. I did like that Eve is given a bump in the road by having a local cop to deal with. The solution seemed pretty obvious to me at first, but I liked the twists even if it wasn't really possible to reason out that solution, but regardless I liked the journey to get there.
This book has an interesting moment when it is discussed why Eve is seemingly being passed over for promotion. This is a novella that gives a taste of the series. It can be read as a standalone. I give this book 4 stars. This review was originally posted on Top10RomanceBooks. May 23, Nameeta rated it it was ok. I have always enjoyed the In Death series particularly due to the characters. But since this is a novella I dont really expect the author to rehash everything we already know about them since this is a short story.
I found this mildly irritating along with the done to death sex scenes. The plot was pretty weak with the identity of the killer glaringly obvious but not so much the motive. Overall it was OK and I really hope this is not an indicator that I have become bored of this series. Oct 15, Lisazj1 rated it really liked it Shelves: The bad guys always lose to Eve because they always underestimate her, not only her cop-smarts and instincts but her compassion as well.
Mar 25, Caro rated it it was amazing Shelves: Short, full, and fast. I really liked this novella. This one brings in another aspect that hasn't really been breached fully yet. Some mystery and suspense, a fast ride, chasing and dodging, and a good ending. A lot of good sarcasm one-liners and have you smirking, I mean smiling, throughout.
Great new characters and a good locale. Another great In Death book and a one-sitter that has you wanting more. Keep 'em coming and looking forward to more.
