35 Vegan & Gluten Free Dinner Recipes

This book is not yet featured on Listopia. This cookbook, like so many others, was just ok. There were several recipes I'd like to try, but not enough to buy the book. I borrowed it from the library. I found the recipes to be well organized and clear, though I'm not sure I'd call them all "simple", especially if you're less experienced in the kitchen. The layout was ok, but I found the fonts to be too light and small maybe I'm just getting old I did like the substitution list that was provided before the recipes.

I live in a small-ish town where shopping is rather limited and the difficulties I met in trying to locate certain ingredients will most assuredly not be met by someone living in a more populated area with access to actual health food stores. Which may or may not be what you're looking for. Also uses rice, chickpea, and corn flour, dairy-free margarine, and xanthan gum. No custom flour mixes.

This reviewer is fortunate insofar as he has no known food allergy, so one can enjoy as much food as one's waistline will tolerate, yet it must be terrible to have a certain allergy and see perhaps a favourite food becoming out-of-bounds. This book's author has been through this problem and got the metaphorical t-shirt yet did not give up.

Keeping things simple, easy-to-make, engaging and health-friendly are key cornerstones for the recipes. A book of this kind could be a little goldmine and saviour for someone who has an intolerance and for a host who has to figure out a new and possibly unknown way of cooking for a future guest this could literally be a lifesaver, for both parties. If you had ripped the cover and introductory text off this book you might not even realise that it is not a "normal" cookbook.

That is a great testimony to the book's design, contents and great range of recipes.

The book is split into key chapters, starting with various "basics" before covering breakfasts, lunches, baked treats, dinners and desserts. The accompanying text was generally interesting, informal and helpful rather than being a moan-fest and encouraging "victimhood".

What must be the greatest testament to this book or to the reviewer's over-inflated sense of self-importance? Each recipe is well written, clearly signposted, contains all the key information required including an estimated preparation time and cooking time as well as the usual dual-measure ingredients list and a very clear, detailed set of instructions. A textbook example as to how a recipe should be presented. The photography used is very engaging too… you could almost reach through the paper and pull out the food.

Fortunately this book has not been printed on rice paper! Unfortunately, partially through ignorance, many food intolerances have a bit of a bad mainstream reputation, necessitating fussy, special preparation or "special treatment". A book like this kicks those prejudices and wrongful impressions in to touch.

I'm also a pescetarian aka a vegetarian who eats fish. Simply Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free fits the bill for us and will be a permanent addition to my kitchen. It contains an abundance of appetizing recipes that are all gluten-free and dairy-free. All the recipes appear to be simple to make with no intimidatingly long lists of ingredients.

There are loads of scrumptious-appearing illustrations. The recipes also include symbols to alert the cook to other common allergens such as soy Yay! One especially valuable section covers tips on using ingredients that the cook may not be familiar with such as quinoa, sea vegetables, amaranth, coconut milk, kuzu, and more. I've eaten gluten free for about 3 years now and found this advice quite handy and plan to utilize these tips in my kitchen in the future!

Here's just a sample of some recipes that are included which I MUST try so you will have an idea of the diversity included in this book: Is your mouth watering yet? I really like this cookbook and think it's perfect for anyone who craves simple, delicious, and healthy food.

I received an ARC of this cookbook - my opinions remain my own and honest. Both of my girls are dairy-intolerant and gluten-sensitive - in fact, one is actually wheat-allergic, so we mostly stick with all gluten-free for her as a result. So I am always on the look out for a gluten-free cookbook that will have recipes that appeal to both my husband and myself, as well as our two girls ages 5 and 7.

I love how this cookbook is laid out in an easy to follow way and the recipes are split up in a way that makes sense vs being "blobbed" together as you see sometimes. The pictures are enticing and definitely grab your attention, which I love! The only downfall to this book for me, was, that many of the desserts used dairy-free margarine. For me, I'm not a fan of actual margarine so I would prefer to avoid the soy version of it as well. With that in mind, I found that coconut oil worked well in the place of many of these.
