Love the humor and the snark of the females without them being annoying. This is a book co-written with Marina Maddix who I am not too familiar with. I was easily able to tell who wrote which parts and thats probably because I've read everything Celia has written. I'm very familiar with her brand of fun and stories. I enjoyed Lucy's character very much. She really was a no-nonsense I will not roll over kinda gal. Reminds me a lot of Mia from her Grayslake seri I enjoy Celia's books as always.
Reminds me a lot of Mia from her Grayslake series. She writes really strong yet fiery female characters and Marina adds her own special flare. I've read the other book she co-wrote too. I enjoyed Mason because yes he's Alpha and demands fealty and his pack to tow the line but he's not overbearing like some He's actually quite cute and sweet in regards to Lucy. Patient considering his wolf is going nuts not claiming his mate. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the next.
My only thing is with everything going on and everything being explained to Lucy that she just said ok bite me which that part didnt bother me. I thought there would be more to that process. The following chapter she was already bitten and totally fine and not dying and spending time with Mason. I was like wait what? Everything is ok already? They dont even mate mate til the very end so it was a little weird to shift gears that fast. Thats my only thing. Sorry for the spoiler. Aug 18, Stephanie rated it liked it. It was pretty good What I didn't like - I don't like that Mason had past sexual partners.
He knew his kind had mates, so sleeping with someone else, even before he met his mate, is cheating in my opinion. The mention was mild, not very detailed, and he seemed very respectful of them. All of those things are good as I don't like arrogant or disrespectful characters or details of their past sex lives. The book was fine in this regard, but I've always disliked when shifters have past partners in boo It was pretty good What I didn't like - I don't like that Mason had past sexual partners.
The book was fine in this regard, but I've always disliked when shifters have past partners in books with fated mates. I don't understand why one older mated wolf in the past I can't say more without risking spoilers went feral when mating is supposed to prevent a wolf from going feral. Maybe I missed a reason, but it really didn't make sense to me. Mason was a jerk to Charlie. He had already found his mate, and this was a child, so he had no right to be that way.
No one should be a jerk that way, especially to a child. What I did like - The story was otherwise enjoyable. I loved the inclusion of children secondary characters that really felt like part of it, not just lost in the background. Overall - Very enjoyable shifter story with some errors, good characters, and a sometimes jerk alpha. Jul 25, Jennifer Dale rated it liked it Shelves: I like when the heroine is clueless of who or what the hero is; such as, in this story, hero being a werewolf. This story is about Lucy Morgan coming back to her hometown after being framed from embazzlement.
Mason Blackwood and his family reside in her hometown; protecting the forest by day and night. Lucy's mom and dad killed when she was young. After being framed, she has nowhere else to go; except for her childhood home. Mason, Alpha of the Blackwood pack, needs a mate Overall, the story was a quick read Lucy gets bitten by a "child", her recovery from the bite, Mason finding his mate but not able to tell her the truth yet, who is starting the fires?
The synopsis creates this big idea that someone is after Lucy, which they are, but we are never really given a big scene. When Mason and Lucy are faced head to head with the threat, it is over in like 4 pages.
Not really anything to go home and talk about. Anyway, pretty good, Held my attention and flowed effortlessly. Just not much depth. Jun 07, Stace rated it liked it Shelves: Mason is a typical Alpha, although the threat of going feral without a mate is a nice added touch. I really liked Lucy.

No real romance either, just insta-mate bad bangaway with flat characters and flatter storyline. Sep 15, Lisa Baffi rated it really liked it. It was a cute shifter story, and I liked the characters. Also, it had some good steamy parts. However, I felt the story line was too predictable. Nov 28, Amy rated it really liked it. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. This was a fun quick low angst book. Jun 10, Cindy Caron rated it it was amazing. What a wonderful story!
I love the fact that the heroine in this tale is as feisty, or feistier than the hero, and that she gives him a real run for his money, or heart in this case. When an alpha wolf needs to find a mate, pronto! Lucy is back in her hometown, desperate to regroup her emotions and try to re-establish her career. Little did she know that when she ran in front of an SUV with a distracted driver to save a toddler, just how much her life was about to be turned upside down. Especially when said toddler, upset about a kitten, bites back! An exceptionally great read. The only question left, is who will be next? I am so looking forward to reading the next episode. Maddix are talented writers but one trick ponies for me Maddix, again was led to believe it might be a series but sadly no Or just being foolish?
But this sounded interesting, soo I decided to give it a try Lucy was a deeply irritating combination of smart and brave but quick to jump to conclusions and make assumptions, intelligent and quick witted at times at the same time rather dense and willingly clueless and begging to allowed to live in denial Felt beet there done this and done better by both already and it made me cringe Mason I think deserved better, even if he did go at this storming in like a bull in a china shop ,and Lucy?
Lucy needs to get over herself get a clue and some sense and some self esteem Jun 22, Marsha Spohn rated it it was amazing Shelves: Little does he know that an innocent accident by a child within his pack will change everything. Lucy has returned to Ashtown, perhaps not as her first choice but at this point her only choice.
An accident will change her fate, or will it just bring her to the man she was supposed to be with all along. Real Men Howl is an intriguing romance between one out of control Alpha and one hurting, yet snarky and brave woman. As far as Lucy is concerned, this whole werewolf thing is pure nonsense… until things begin to change and reality sets in. Mason is overprotective, dealing with several other problems around pack land while trying to watch over Lucy.

It's the little things that can be improved in a formulaic wolf story to give us a nice comfort book. Real Men Howl lacks a lot of those tiny details despite trying to pack in a lot of substance. It's a little flat. My rating doesn't reflect any high expectations of rich world building or an angsty relationship or a cleverly intertwined plot with romance and action, it's with regards to solely what is presented in the book. Is it so hard to work out details like how the hero is going to meet his mate when the core storyline is already established? Meddlesome people are one thing and people who break into stranger's house are completely another. The first meeting is just a mess. The national ruling circle is a cool idea if those people were going to be utilised other than some sort of sitting ducks.
There is no scene with the actual bad guy other than the big pow wow in the end which is just.. The bite thing had potential but it's solved in a very weirdly cop out way.
And lastly Lucy may have more character than Mason but it wasn't any better. The first thing is her looking down on "hipster" peeps. She is wearing white t-shirt and mom jeans and she is also curvy. Have you guys been on Instagram lately? Many people have those aesthetics and nobody looks at them funny. Her inconsistent reactions to any situation just made her annoying. Jun 08, Rebecca Grove rated it it was amazing. Mason is the alpha of the Ashtown pack but maybe not for long.
It has taken so long for him to find his mate that his wolf is trying to take over. Mason is struggling to control his wolf's desire for blood and fighting. Then like a miracle his mate appears but she is in trouble. She was bit by a child in his pack and is trying to change to wolf.
The problem is that bitten humans usually only successfully changed if bitten with a mating bite. His mate is dying before his eyes. She thought she would never come back but a broken heart has her seeking a new place to hide from the pain. Soon after she arrives, she sees a little boy about to be hit by a car so she swoops in to grab him.
The child is afraid and startled and bites her. Unknown to her, the child is a werewolf and has given her a changing bite. People of the town are very concerned and seem to be talking nonsense about changes and mates but the sexy man she meets is worth it.

I think maybe 4 days pass in the entire story. You know me, if it's not plausible, I'm not a fan. Well, there's a lot that's not plausible with this one. Here's the thing that just doesn't sit right with me. Dude walks in her house, literally breaks the knob off in his hand, and she just kinda accepts that a complete stranger takes control of her life.
She, who has never known about werewolves, doesn't blink an eye about all these weird things. You know when someone tells you about a movie or a book they've read and they leave a lot out but you get the gist of what it's about? That's what it's like reading this story. Thank you to Celia Kyle and Marina Maddix for the wonderful review copy.
Highly recommend these authors and their books. Jun 12, Frances Law rated it it was amazing. Celia Kyle has a habit of writing winning stories and this is no exception. I must say that the beginning threw me off a bit as it reminded me of another story that I once read but as I read further I realised that it was different. Lucy has had a lot of drama and tragedy in her life culminating in her losing her job, and any chance of getting a new one, when she is falsely accused of imbezzlement!
Feeling battered she returns to her childhood hometown. The house that she grew up Another winner. The house that she grew up in is still there having been looked after by a caretaker while she was gone. So, there she is strolling down the main street and taking in all the changes when, out of nowhere, she sees an SUV bearing down on a child, the driver completely oblivious. View all 4 comments.

Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. I'm a bit OCD and have to correct the errors in my head which drops me out of the story, so it was a bit disconcerting to have more of them in the 3rd book. I want to close this review by saying, please go out, get the first 2 books read them and then read this one. I figured Damon and Lily would be expecting seeing how busy they have been. It felt almost rushed, I feel like the author didn't elaborate enough on the workings of the pack or other characters and the mating, it was very rushed.
So going to free the one who will be responsible for his death is a job he will gladly undertake. Finding his mate…so not in the plans. But will he accept yet another change to his world? I thoroughly enjoyed Jeff and loved that Ms. Bell decided to give him his happily ever after.
Jeff is an alpha but you could miss it around a houseful of Gods. He Jeff has seen the results of his twin being tortured by their grandfather, twice. He is smart, loyal and fearless. I enjoyed his sense of humor. He always seems to know just what is needed to break the tension. But I loved that Ms. Fen may not be used to this century but he will fight for the one fated to be his.
I love that Ms. Bell continues to give us unexpected twists and turns. Even as Fen and Jeff find their way. This story is best read in chronological order. Feb 22, Robin rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Dana Marie Bell Rating: Personally, I don't enjoy giving "SPOILERS" as a rule, so I believe the general synopsis above or on the book flap if it's a hard copy should give you all the pertinent information you need. I do include the basics under synopsis though. Also, if this is a book in a series, under "Characters," you'll most likely find a fu-bo list.
While reading, authors tend to introduce us to numerous characters and I find I wonder if they will get their own book, so I decided to include this with my review to be helpful. If the character has a fu-bo already out, it will be listed. And now to my review: This book DOES focus on a relationship between two men.

I was quickly able to empathise with Fenris and I felt really bad for everything he went through.
I've always felt sorry for Fenris and the way he was treated in the mythos. Odin is a sick, sadistic I'm really looking forward to when he finally gets his comeuppance. The only complaint I really have is that This review may contain spoilers. The only complaint I really have is that there is nothing redeeming about Odin - he's completely evil. There were several things that really made me laugh in this book.
I did especially like Jeff's and Fenris' relationship. It was really cute that Fenris was so confused about modern-day slang. The killing Odin's ass bit really made me laugh. I particularly liked Odin in this book as well.
The reunion between him and his son was really emotional. The popcorn thing was more amusing than it should have been as well. What happened to Thor and then to Jeff was awful. The interpretation of the prophecy was pretty interesting - and the asides while they tried to figure out what it meant were also amusing. The only other complaint I have now is that there's only one book left for me to read so far. And I'm still not sure how Jordan has a different father to Jeff and Jamie.
Feb 07, Lily rated it it was ok Shelves: True Destiny 3 I found Jeff's character interesting in the previous books and couldn't wait for his story, especially after i read how he meets his "mate" The author has used the greek theme to its extreme limit,it was so bad that i had to skim some pages to get to the good part.

Yeah, i get it he is bad and evil, but still, to have the bad guy get caught and then ,escape every freaking time was so not cool. I couldn't even feel sorry for the good guys. Basically not much happened, we could even wrap Jeff and Fen's mating in a couple of pages. Coming to the romance, i didn't find any. Jan 30, Shiran rated it liked it Shelves: Having said that there was just something about this book that I felt didn't live up to Bell's usual standards. This series is very confusing if you don't pay attention and can't keep track of all the double names and God races, but it's still very creative and exciting.
I think my problem with this one was that I didn't connect or feel the passion between Fen and Jeff Despite that the basic storyline is intriguing and I will definitely be reading the next one. Things that we completely take for granted and he had to learn so it was awesome the way Dana Marie Bell incorporated it into the story! It is also so cool to see how the prophesy plays out in the story and you cna't help but root for them to beat Odin. I give this 5 out of 5 stars! Looking for more reviews and books? I should know better! Dana got me again, I had to buy the rest of the series. I loved Howl for Me. Really neat twist on Norse mythology. I will admit I had a little trouble in the beginning following the list of characters without a play book. I think It would probably have been better if I had read the series in order. But, Howl for Me contains Dana Marie's trademark humor, strong characters and wonderfully complicated plot. Jan 29, gremlin rated it really liked it. The series continues with a good installment.
