A dark curse and a light curse. The dark curse is at work because her boyfriend Lorcan loves her, and wants to take the next step. However, there is also a white curse at work that was placed on Orla by a family member who loved her and wished to save her life. The race is on to save not just herself if she can from the curse that binds her, but those around her who are also being targeted by beings both supernatural and mortal. Spell Breaker is book one in D.
In this book, we are thrown into a world of magic, curses and full of danger. The story is fast paced and kept me engaged from the beginning all the way to the end. Orla is an interesting character.

There are no discussion topics on this book yet. And of course the fantasy, magic, romance and all the clues and mystery - who can resist a combination like that!
We get some background on her here and there in the story but not really a lot. The author gives us bits and pieces as to whom and what Orla is. I love the supernatural element of the dark curse that the author gives the reader from the very beginning. This is what immediately hooked me into the story. I immediately wanted to know more. There are so many elements to this story. I like the air of mystery in the story. There is so much going on that you need to really stay focused or you might get lost.
Overall, I enjoyed this story. I will admit that there are some elements that the author does not touch on and completely resolve. I wanted to know more about what transpired at Fossey Way. I am rating this book 4. I found this story to be truly engaging. The characters are interesting. The various plots and subplots keep the story moving forward, so you have to make sure you pay close attention to what is going on. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing what happens next. Lorcan is her childhood sweetheart, who helps her by using his computer skills. From the very beginning of the book, the reader is pulled into their story and the author doesn't let go until the very last page. Orla is haunted by an ancient curse that does not allow her to love anybody. But, Lorcan refuses to stop trying to win her heart. When Orla is offered a job that involves finding and rescuing a kidnapped comput Orla is an accomplished thief, stealing supernatural items for wealthy clients.
When Orla is offered a job that involves finding and rescuing a kidnapped computer game developer, Lorcan tries to talk her out of accepting it. But, Orla's stubbornness wins out and the adventure begins. There is plenty of action, lots of magic, deities, demons, and most of all, undying love.
You will feel empathy for the characters and the dilemmas that arise because of things that they cannot control. What would you sacrifice to save the one you loved? Leo is a great writer and her characters and the world they inhabit are well-developed.

If you enjoy your romance mixed with magic, give this book a try. Even though it is part of a series set in the Multiverse, each book can be enjoyed on its own merits. I don't know how DN Leo does it but somehow she manages to find ways of telling totally different stories using the same "Multiverse" platform.
Part of it is that the nature of the Multiverse, with its alternate dimensions, magic, paranormal and more, is so wonderfully flexible, yet there's more to it than that since she still manages to somehow tie her stories together, at least loosely, while keeping them totally stand alone at the same time. Some kind of writing voodoo I'm sure, but I'm happy I don't know how DN Leo does it but somehow she manages to find ways of telling totally different stories using the same "Multiverse" platform.
Some kind of writing voodoo I'm sure, but I'm happy to be the beneficiary of it. Spell Breaker is a great example of this. I'm not going to summarize it, as the kindle blurb and other reviews do a good job and I don't want to spoil things but I will note that yet again here is an example of wonderful and well developed leads, with a great supporting cast including drop-ins of some faves from other "Multiverse" stories , actingbthrigh a pretty darn original and well written plot. The more I read of D. Leo's book the more I am getting hooked. This book is in a separate series but the characters cross from another series. The story lines from the different books are carefully cover with great accuracy so the actions from the other book flow smoothly in this story. The book deals with Orla, Lorcan, Riley and Noah.
Spell Breaker - Spectrum of Magic - Book 1
I don't believe this is the end of this group but it ties up what happened with the group during Random Psychic. Orla and Lorcan have a past from childhood that neither wants to be separated from each other but she keeps them from fully committing. Lorcan does not understand why but does not push her to explain otherwise he knows she will lie before telling the truth. They will fight to save a stranger, a ghost, friends and each others. They have their own code of right and wrong without crossing the line.
Jun 18, Erika rated it really liked it. I really liked this book, more than I thought I would by the end of the first chapter. Sometimes Orla annoyed me with her reticence to tell Lorcan about her secrets, and the curses surrounding her and her family. I loved Riley and Noah and hope I'll get to see a lot more of them as we explore the multiverse. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The storyline is well-written, entertaining, has action, adventure, romance, thieves, hackers, and curses. The characters are developed, engaging and are lovers. I enjoyed this read. This was a wonderful book written by ne of my favorite authors D. This story is filled with curses, demons ,magic, romance and mystery. I loved reading cause it has all of this in it.
