The outer door must also be open. Then he tells his father, and the rest of the film follows.

It Comes at Night is a American horror film written and directed by Trey Edward Shults. When Travis reveals that the door was already open when he came downstairs, Sarah suggests that a sleepwalking Andrew might have opened the. Deep in the bush of north east DR Congo, an abducted child soldier, fleeing for his life, encounters a local hunter who must decide whether or not to help him escape, despite a history of Andrew Michael Ellis (as Andrew Ellis), Alex Mallis (co-director) Lindsay Branham (story.

I'm pretty sure that's how events actually happened - his father has the only key and he was sleeping in the same room as him so would have been much more able to get it than Andrew would. This also seems to indicate that it's how he got infected. But that does throw into question all of the previous cues we have been given.

THEY CAME AT NIGHT

The drawings, the nightmares, the placement of Kim in his dream, etc. I think it's possible that the infection's early signs are hallucinations and sleepwalking, and the lesions come much later, right before the end. Therefore, Andrew may also be infected. I totally thought that is what Travis's last vision meant.

He opened the door and lied about it, or blocked it out. Will and his family wanted to leave because they new Travis lied and was now sick. If the grandfather died because he had virus, there's a good chance all of the remaining family members were infected because they lived in the same house. The premise that you can only be infected by touch is ridiculous Remember when families met? The writer's were purposely depicting Travis as a disturbed young man throughout the movie.

I think this was intentionally done so all unanswered questions the audience had would lead to Travis. Door being unlocked could not have been done by child. Movie does make alot of sense. We are not given details of how Bud contracted the infection, but it's significant that a member of the family home had already contracted the disease: While it's significant that Andrew was found sleeping on the floor of Bud's room, the movie never gives real evidence that Andrew was infected.

Instead, its Travis who show clear signs of being infected first. So who infected him? My theory is that the dog is the source of the infection. Throughout the movie we see the dog being allowed to roam free inside or outside. This was the crucial mistake that doomed everybody within home, despite the extreme precautions taken. In fact, Bud's original infection may have been brought in by the dog originally, but we aren't given enough information to know.

Travis got sick before everyone else, and the only behaviour he had over the rest of his family was sleeping closely with the dog every night. If Bud's leftover pathogen had spread to the dog or its fur, then Travis was clearly likely to be the next victim. When the dog began barking erratically and ran away from the home likely just chasing an animal, but being disobedient in manner , it was merely the dog showing symptoms of being infected similar to the strange dreams and thoughts shown by Travis. As the infection flourished within both, we can explain the unlocked door as Travis acting erratically.

His "dream" of going outside at night was real, and when he returned he did not leave the door locked as he should have, leading to the sick dying dog returning to the red door infected with wounds possibly made worse by an animal attack. I believe like a few others have already said. The dog and the boy was the cases that followed the grandpa. Dog tripping out in the woods and hallucinations of Travis was side effects of the virus.

The pictures the boys was drawing are kind of creepy, but I think its of them being infected and seeing themselves as monsters. Also I feel like the picture Travis drew and his dad actually looked at, to me it looked like the men he killed that had attacked him and other guy going to rescue his family. But was such a fast screen. You hear strange sounds but you never see anything, and this becomes just another unresolved, underdeveloped element. This is more a Twilight Zone parable about the destructive nature of man. The look of the film is moody, the performances are good, but I felt underwhelmed by the end and questioned the point of it all.

It Comes at Night is okay. I can't see what people loved and I can't see what people hated, though I can see more of the aversion.

The horror genre is subjective with any film that it releases, plain and simple. Some viewers will either be chuckling, completely invested, or hoping for something else entirely. Yet again, It Comes At Night will probably do just that for the majority of its screenings. That being said, this is one of the best horror films of the last few years and quite possibly the best film in general that I've been able to see in all of It Comes At Night is just another one to add to the list of recent greats, and here is why.

It Comes at Night - Wikipedia

The style of film and television hasn't ever been the same, but with the wave of great television shows over the last decade or so, the difference is not so far off anymore. The best way to describe this film is to call it the very best of The Walking Dead. Beginning with an outbreak of some kind that has already began to spread, we are dropped into the lives of a family, lead by Paul Joel Edgerton.

As they are living as peacefully as they can out in the woods, another man barges into their lives unintentionally. Wishing to keep his wife and son safe, they form a bond and begin to trust one another. The tension between who is keeping secrets and lies begins to unfold and this film deals with those elements wonderfully.

If you're looking for a terrifying horror film or wish to have an incredibly intense thriller, you've come to the wrong place.

Although the trailers for It Comes At Night shroud the film in secrecy, making you grasp for answers, this is just a human story from beginning to end. It's two families pitted against each other, both in need of the same things, supplies and survival. From start to finish, this is a tension-filled character study and nothing more.

Sure, there are some truly terrifying images spliced into the film and certain moments definitely made me uneasy, but I found myself completely sucked into this world and wondering who was truly good and bad deep down. Another thing this film fails to do is reveal itself for what it truly is, which is what I found to be the best aspect of the entire movie. As mentioned above, the best part about this movie is that it doesn't take any time to deliver long exposition sequences as to what it going on in the outside world around them.

Left to the imagination of its audience, due to the fact that there are so many films and television shows that probably already have similar explanations, It Comes At Night is the type of film that cares about its characters first and foremost. The plot at hand is among these six people and the story never strays away from that for a second. There are dream sequences and side issues that happen in order to keep the audience engaged, but this an incredibly focussed little thriller.

Some people may called this a zombie film of sorts and they wouldn't be wrong in the slightest, but the fact that it's kept ambiguous was terrific. Reflecting on this film, there really aren't any glaring issues throughout this movie, due to the fact that it's just a slice of life in a post-apocalyptic world. The tension is very present, the conclusion is gutsy and satisfying, and I cared about each and every character. What put It Comes At Night over the edge for me, was the fact that it felt real. Without the mention of otherworldly things even though you knew the implications of that , this film makes itself grounded in reality and you truly believe that these two families are fighting for their survival.

There are a few unanswered elements and there are a few predictable scenes, but if you feel like investing yourself in a thrilling drama, then look no further than It Comes At Night, because it deserves your attention.
