The ID was the name of a dead person I used to know and probably her old phone number too. Don't assume the number is a living relative!

I got one from my Aunt's phone number which came up with her name and phone number in my caller ID. When I answered the phone it was most definitely not her. I get these calls daily on my state work phone.

I just hang up. It use to be a guy but now its a girl sounding goofy. I also got the "goofy girl" robot calls several times per week, starting last November. Sometime caller ID gives a phone number, but mostly it is only "Incomingcall". I receive at least four of these phone calls a day. Each time it's a different person's name, but I can tell the calls are robotic and coming from the same source. I'm already on the Do Not Call List and that isn't stopping them. I agree with you.

I am getting these same phone calls every day, 7 days a week, sometimes 3 an hour. I report them everyday and even verified that I'm on the do not call list.

Still, nothing is done! I block the numbers and they continue to call from another extension. MedicGirl, that is what is happening with me! Three or four times the creature calling leaves a message saying, " One of them i recommend is nomorobo. I don't know about your phone provider but it's free from spectrum. I get these all day long. I too am on the do not call list. I think that list is bogus. Today's call ask is this a business. I have learned not to say yes.

Since then I only get them rarely and I continue to report them immediately after I hang up. The DNC registry will only prevent law-abiding companies from contacting you. The Do Not Call List only blocks calls from legitimate callers. What scammers are doing is already illegal, so Do Not Call Lists don't matter to them. I never answer my phone.

Why can't phone service providers block the robo-calls? Particularly if you pay for "minutes" on a cellphone plan. It seems so easy. I tried calling the FTC and got pissed off instead. What I do now is simply save all these numbers under a contact name "Do Not Answer", so when they call again, I simply decline the call. I've got more than 1, such numbers in my "Do Not Answer" contact. Wish some responsible Govt agency would do something about this because all these scamsters come from abroad, mostly India and the Philippines.
