This is one of those novels that I want to rant and rave about, and try to tell everyone to read it, that they'll enjoy it, they'll love it as much as I did.
Great story, great storytelling. Not to take anything away from the story, but if I could have, I would have asked her to change the very end of the ending.
It was a good ending, don't get me wrong. I just wanted it to end "my way", that's all. This novel deserves to be read and appreciated by everyone, and I sincerely hope they do.
If you read it, you'll love it, I can almost guarantee it. This is a charming book about a young woman visiting her grandmother in Greece. The author'a family is from Greece so the book is authentic in it's details.

There is also a story in it from WWII, based on a true story from the author's family history. It'a an engaging book you will enjoy. Now, Jaunary , in editing, is a follow up book. The author is a lovely and talented young woman whose Greek heritage shines through. She and my cousin were married in a real Greek wedding!

Daphne loved her idyllic childhood summers spent on Erikousa with her grandmother from whom she learned not only about Greek legends and traditions, but also acquired excellent culinary skills in preparing Greek cuisine which she used to open a very successful restaurant in New York City.
A widow of five years, she is engaged to a man who she believes will fulfill her heart's desires until she travels with her young daughter, Evie, to prepare for the wedding on Erikousa. Here, she once again experiences the peaceful, simple island life and begins to question not only what really comprises a life well lived, but also what choices and actions lend authenticity and dignity to that life. You will be enchanted by the magic of the island and the relationship of Daphne and her grandmother.
Pack your suitcase and have it ready by the door because when you read this novel, you will want to travel to the Greek island, Erikousa, and stay awhile at the small hotel in the hopes of meeting some of the other memorable characters in this charming tale.
