But i completed the step and began. No point in changing directions. The shaman stepped back, his hand waved toward the woodsman. She was a small woman with a baby in one hand, a pampers in the other, and a toddler clutching her leg.
Not everyone is going to take to these four whisky nerds or sympathise much when they land in trouble, but it's a fast paced, action-packed, roller-coaster-ride thriller which I found to be quite enjoyable, though you might be forgiven for thinking it's a "man's" book. But it was set on Islay. This makes up a little for the lack of deep characterization. Within minutes of leaving the ferry terminal they, or more specifically the loud-mouthed Roddy, get on the wrong side of the local police and from there everything goes downhill - rapidly! Even the ending, the all important climax of the book, was unbelievably awful. Couldn't out it down. The Edinburgh hedge fund manager, the whisky shop assistant, the tour guide, the bar maid and the dodgy policemen are just a little bit hackneyed.
