Lots of neat graffiti. Police did a drive-by while we were at high rock. Well marked and wide. Nice views and I would say moderately trafficked for a Saturday. Parking lot was almost filled. White Rocks overlook was great. The hike was a real workout!
After so much rain it was fairly dry except for a few areas. Nice hike--climbing two peaks both ways on this out-and-back hike. Very, very rocky--need sturdy soles. I made the mistake of wearing running shoes, and my soles were so sore after 10 miles.
My hiking partner had sturdy hiking shoes and fared much better. Two big road crossings. Lots of muddy areas on first. Wonderful ATC stewards working on the first section. By the time I had returned, it looked spectacular! Easy access and well marked.
Great views with a rocky wet start. The parking lot at Greenbrier State Park was full. Nice views from Washington Monument. Parts of AT was very muddy. Rocky, wet, and beautiful scenery-moss covered rocks, a stream and little waterfalls along the way.
Perfect way to start a Saturday! It is not an easy trail. Every rocky , must be careful.

Depending on which route you take, you will pass the breathtaking Amicalola Falls, which are the largest waterfalls in the state of Georgia standing at feet high. This is a decent climb, so choose one that is within your physical abilities: Option 1 2 miles: Retrace your steps back to your car. Start your hike at Amicalola and follow the blue blazed approach trail northbound for 8. After reaching the summit, continue following the AT north for another 1 mile to reach your car. For a full day of climbing, hike the Springer Mountain approach trail.
Starting at Amicalola Falls, hike northbound for 8. Retrace your steps back down the mountain and to your car.

Ramrock Mountain offers beautiful views of Hawk, Sassafras, and Justus Mountains, as well as the surrounding Georgia forests. Due to a smaller climb and more level elevation, this hike is slightly less challenging than others on the AT in Georgia. This makes it a great introductory hike for those interested in getting out on the AT more often.
