I started writing late in life hoping to help my grandchildren pay for their college education. If I would have known that I could tell a good story. Refreshingly different are the words which came to mind as soon as I thought about reviewing this book. It is set in a very different post apocalypse world to any other story I have read or listened to.

There are two main characters in this book, Dr. Tula Macoby who is a plant person or Halvainiens who has been genetically changed, their skin is green and they rely largely on photosynthesis. When Levi leaves the safety of the Holdout on a mission to find a cure for his son who has cystic fibrosis, little does he to know what adventures lay in store for him.

After he is captured by the Halvainiens, he meets Tula who realises he is special and, when she finds he is sent to be euthanized risks everything to save him. From that moment on both their worlds are turned upside down as the hunted fugitives face the dangers of the cannibals in the wastelands in the search for the Fossilites, immortal people who live deep in the mountains, who Levi believes can save his son. Will they find the Fossilites, and if they do, have they the answers Levi seeks? What is the future for these two being, where can they call home when they are so different, or are they?

This is a great post apocalypse story which I would not hesitate to recommend. Born and raised in Alaska, I use the long dark winters to nurture my love for reading and learning. Science has always been especially interesting to me. Then I realized if I pursued biomedical engineering like I planned, I might never see the outside of a lab again.

I began writing my first novel as my senior thesis. After college graduation, I convinced my husband to move back to Alaska, had two children, bought a house, became a Certified Master Gardener, and began the challenge of gardening and farming in the High North. Thus began my obsession with self-sufficiency. Newly attuned to the land and our food supply, my mind created futuristic scenarios of a world without plants. A world without food. A world where bio-engineering might be the only thing that could save humanity.

The narrator, Meghan Kelly has one of the most enjoyable voices I have listened to and she also has the abililty to bring alive the characters wonderfully with her wide vocal range, making this audiobook a very enjoyable story to listen to. These two words sum up this book completely.

When he does, he finds himself in an alternative world called Endra. This is a great adventure for young adults, or even adults, who are young at heart. If you love fantasy, adventure and pure escapism, combined with a good story, then this is the book for you. When his dog disappears he pays the farmers a visit, but his reception and a closer look at the farm does nothing to calm his fears, something is happening there, the farmers have a strange look about them, they are hiding a secret, and all is not as it seems. The police will not help the locals, the farmers from the city have too much money, however, the hill folk are not as powerless as they seem.

Nance, is the leader of the hill folk, she is as old as the hills, fearless, and with her Guardians and powers she stands against the forces of evil who have taken over their lives. When the farmers arrive at her door, Ebe watches powerless as a battle of good against evil ensues, but is it a battle Nance can win, and will the peaceful inhabitants of Crossings ever be safe from the terrible evil? This is a wonderful story, anyone who has lived in a small community which has been subject to change can immediately emphasize with this small town, not wanting to be interfered with, resenting unfriendly newcomers, and resisting change.

However, this is not an ordinary community and the characters in this story are not all normal people, some of them have magical powers and the changes are not minor, they are a struggle of good versus evil. I read this book in one sitting, it has a wonderful storyline and is a really enjoyable fantasy. A sixth grade English assignment introduced her to story writing. The teacher asked for a short story. She got an incomplete, page Nancy Drew pastiche which turned into a novel the next summer. Theodoratus has been addicted to writing stories happily ever after.

It seemed magical, and most of the wishes they made came true, however, years later, as adults, with Kate dying, Ben, Kate and her husband Roger made the last wish they would on it, one which thousands of people through time, before, and since have made.

It has it all for science fiction fans, top secret scientific projects, a great storyline, twists and turns round every corner, yet, at its very core lies, dare I say it, a love story. It has a great finish, however, at the end, all I wanted to know from the author — is there is another book in the series coming? Maybe I lived in my head way more than I should have, maybe not. I liked machines more than people, at least I did until I met my wife. The first thing I can remember writing was for her. Dan learns that secrets have been kept from him about the past by the Moirai, and with events unfolding all the time, Once Humans is a very clever, action packed story which should delight science fiction fans. What if you discovered a portal that took you to the 12th Century, where you met, fell in love with, and married a princess, had a child together, and then you discovered that you might never see them again? Lucky finds himself in this peculiarly unique situation when he discovers he no longer can access The Time Portal. Because of obligations in the present, Lucky uses the time portal and leaves the 12th Century, his princess, and his son.

But unknown to him, his enemies are waiting patiently for his return, and several questions are raised as Lucky tries to regain control of his powers. Lucky has decided to bring a soldier back to the present with him from the past, but for what reason?

Lucky, in his weakened state, must somehow find a way to return to the past to help save the woman he loves…. I grew up in Queens,New York and my motivation to write came from my wish to help my grandchildren pay for their college education. Falling in love for Lucky Campo knows no boundaries.

He has been given the gift of time travel and his heart lies with the Princess Krystina and their son, in Medieval England at the court of King Richard where he is known as the wizard. They marry, and things could not be happier, until Lucky senses that his friends in the present day need him, and so, he has to leave his family in the trusted hands of his good friend Tor and return. Back in the present day, he is dismayed at the turn of events; two of his friends have been taken hostage, and then he makes a discovery, which has devastating effects.

The Time Portal series of books are amazing, true escapism. As we travel through the time portals with Lucky and his friends, we are treated to snap shots in time, visiting historical events as they happen, meeting people from the past, and visit places many of us will never see, some destroyed forever, before we were born. Another exciting science fiction adventure from this talented author, which stands-alone, or can be read as part of the series.

Rotten Rena the witch is in trouble. She has received receives a gramagram from her very unhappy mother who has said that unless she wins The Great Egg and Cauldron Race she will lose her home. Desolate, Rotten Rena knows that she must win, but how can she? Her cauldron is not very helpful, but luckily, her Treebob friends and Bindweed Belle the Fairy decide to help her. The brilliant narration of Lindsay Abbot bought the characters wonderfully to life, and I would imagine any child would love this book. Mischief and magic abound when the two wicked witches of the magical forest, Badlot Barbara and Rotten Rena, decide to open up their very own broomstick shop in the middle of the forest.

Of course witches from miles around pay a visit and cause mayhem while test driving their broomsticks. However, the Treebobs come up with a most cunning plan to put the two wicked witches out of business with quite dizzying results. When the peace of the forest is broken by the sound of tree saws and evil cackling, Treebob Bluebell and two fairies are sent to discover what is happening.

In a clearing, they find Rotten Rena and her cousin Badlot Barbara waving their wands and cackling with laughter as giant saws move through the air cutting down trees and scaring all the tree dwelling animals. As witches arrive from near and far, and try out broomsticks, the forest dwellers become very unhappy and they form an action committee, but what can it do? Well, have you ever wondered what magic makes broomsticks fly? A brilliantly entertaining story, which is wonderfully narrated by Lindsay Abbott.

In this magical story from the ever-popular Treebob series, Rotten Rena, the wicked witch of the enchanted forest, comes up with yet another mad scheme involving one of her very own magical potions. Of course its up to the Treebobs to rescue her. Poor Rotten Rena is not very good at magic, however, when she finds an old book she decides one of the potions will be the perfect way for her to make her fortune.

Potion made, she sets up a stall in the forest, unfortunately, the forest dwellers are frightened of her, and the only person to appear is her cousin, Badlot Barbara, who is also a wicked witch. Taunted, Rotten Rena takes her own potion, only to discover it was not what she thought it was…. Luckily, good fairy Bindweed Bell has seen it all, and knows Badlot Barbara will be far worse than Rotten Rena for the forest dwellers, so the Treebobs and fairies send out a search party.

This is a wonderful story, the comical wicked witches and clever working together of the inhabitants of the Enchanted Forest are brought magically to life by the narrator Lindsay Abbott. When Rotten Rena a truly wicked witch makes an enemy of Mole Hill Marge she does so at her peril as Marge is famous for being a very stubborn mole indeed. However not even Rotten Rena dares to imagine the lengths that Marge will go to in order to get her own back but Rena soon finds out when Mole Hill Marge becomes Mountain Marge and its down to the Treebobs to save the day. Badlot Barbara is not friends with her cousin Rotten Rena, today and so she agrees to help Marge take revenge on Rotten Rena, and gives her a magic potion.

The next day the ground trembles as a gigantic Marge tunnels through the earth. As she causes havoc, it is apparent that something has to be done to stop her, but what? I love listening to audio books and, even as an adult, I find the adventures of the Treebobs relaxing and entertaining. The magic and characters are delightful and the story is brought alive by the wonderful voices of Lindsay Abbott. We learn that they were elves, who originally lived in a beautiful valley, which had everything they needed, and they were very happy. However, one day a terrible thing happens and before long, they are forced to find another home. After a long journey, they arrive at a valley with a dense magical forest in it, could this be their new home? Well, many creatures live in this forest including wicked witches and lovely fairies, as the elves discover.

However, luckily, their journey has a happy ending, but what that is, you will just have to listen to find out. This video takes me back to special times reading stories with my children. Her airship is so noisy and her plans so damaging to the forest, that the fairies and Treebobs decide they have to do something. Well, he is a kind and helpful man, and the good thing about helping others, is that when you are in trouble, they will help you.

After listening to a wonderful idea from kind fairy Bindweed Belle, he calls in assistance from an unusual source! The next day as the airship begins its maiden voyage, full of noisy cackling witches who are throwing food and rubbish over the side, their plan swings into action, but will it work? To find out the answer you will have to listen to this enchanting story. Not only is it read beautifully by the very talented narrator Lindsay Abbott who brings all the characters wonderfully to life, but it also contains very important messages for children.
