The Beginner's Bible from Zondervan has been newly updated with new pictures that are bright, look more 3 dimensional and bring the stories to life. Not a story has been left out of this classic children's Bible so you will not be disappointed when turning to your favorites like David and Goliath, Daniel and the Lion's Den, or Jonah and the Whale.

The stories are told in a way the littlest learner can capture God's story and begin to hide these truths in the hearts. I have also used this Bible in many children's classes that I have taught because the stories as just the right length to give a good foundation of the story and the pictures are exciting and brilliant and keep the little reader's attention. I would recommend this Bible to anyone with small children from the littlest listener to around age 8.

It will give them an early hunger for God's Word and help them learn all their favorite Bible stories. Do you remember your first Bible? I still have the one given to me by my grandparents, when I was seven. I remember fanning the pages to look at the pictures, and was mesmerized. What a gift to be able to now pass on those same stories and well-loved characters to my children through the same Bible!

We read for about minutes each night before bed although they would sit and read it cover to cover each night with me if I let them stay up because they adore it so much!! Often times, when we are done reading, they will eagerly ask to have it left in bed with them.

My boys will switch off who gets to keep it that night and they will flip through the pages and savor the stories by the light of the little Christmas tree in their room until they fall asleep. Introducing my children to Jesus is our greatest privilege that we never take for granted. We want to give them the best tools to show who Jesus is and what He did for them. That's why we like The Beginner's Bible. For babies and toddlers, the colorful pictures captivate them and hold their attention. For older siblings, they have a wonderful opportunity to be the teachers and read it aloud or simply sit back and listen and correct when necessary. Each story is easily marked by a title and Scripture reference making marking your spot in between readings easy to do! Another plus is the dictionary in the back clarifying any new words to your young children. Finding a great storybook Bible is a precious way to introduce your child to the Lord.

I have three daughters and we love to read in our house! The older they get the more they want to learn about Jesus! This book is perfect for teaching them Bible stories and its packed with 90 different bible stories making this the perfect bedtime read!

This bible is wonderful for all children but I think that it best suits children 8 and under the most.

My 6-year-old has no problem trying to read the words and It makes for the perfect book to teach her how to read with. This little bible is la I have three daughters and we love to read in our house! This truly is a timeless book. I was blessed with one when I was a young girl and have been able to pass that on to my children. The stories come straight out of the Bible, so they are biblical based.

Bringing the Bible to life!

It included different voices for different characters, sound effects, and music. It really brought the stories to life. This isn't just for kids, this is for everyone! As my children are both developing early reading skills, the audio CDs that pair with the stories are a big hit.

Another great feature is the table of contents that separates the Old Testament stories from the New, making it easy to find your favorite story or character. The illustrations are beautifully done and the colors are so vibrant that they are sure to capture a youngsters eye as well as imagination.

There is also a small dictionary as well. This is a wonderful way to share God's word and introduce youngsters to the many characters of the Bible. A wonderful gift and a valuable resource for homeschooling or using is a Sunday school setting. I also think it would make wonderful bedtime reading. This Bible appears to be planned out and storyboarded to ensure that each story conforms to a certain page length. Additionally, the Old and New Testaments are evenly divided page-wise, which makes for a more Jesus-heavy Bible. The biggest problem - the only problem, really - is that this is just a story book using Bible stories. There is no overall story arc of God's love, redemption, kingdom, or any of the other major themes that tie the Bible together into one unified book. The goal of this version seems to be to tell the essence of the stories in a simplified manner, at the expense of any greater purpose or vision for the Bible as a whole.

This is a fine Bible to use to teach children about the stories in the Bible, but not very useful for telling the story of the Bible. Sep 02, Nicola Mansfield rated it it was amazing. Ds read to me over about the period of a year as his bible reading. We had a schedule where on every Fri. I would put away our usual religious instruction materials and he would lead the lesson by reading for 20 minutes from this book and it would also cover his reader for the day, thus lightening Friday's load.

He started the book off managing to read one story per allotted time but by the New Testament he was reading three stories each sitting as a rule. So we watched his r Reason for Reading: So we watched his reading improve over the course of this book.
