This especially happens when it comes to fat. We often omit higher fat foods simply because they are higher in calories without taking into consideration what benefits we might get from them, such as staying fuller for longer hangry much? So I urge you to not get too caught up in the calorie count! Omg these are life-changing! Maybe it was the flavor? But the peanut butter really makes these things amazing!

I usually add a little more milk after it sits in the fridge overnight, because it can harden. I have made this recipe several times and have tried minor alterations each time just to try out different versions of the same recipe and every time, my oats have come out amazing and delicious.
The one alteration I would suggest to most anyone, and of course everyone has a different preference on consistency, is that I add an extra splash of almond milk after I have finished preparing my oats. I make the full recipe and then at the end, I add justa splash more milk to make sure everything is fully covered with a small extra layer of milk over the top. I found that without doing this, my oats in the morning are extremely thick and sticky so this just gives it a touch more of a creamy consistency.
This gives the oats a little bit of a crunch to break up the consistency and a really nice touch as well as a womderful mixture of delicious flavors. Also, in the morning when I am ready to eat my oats, I add banana slices and strawberry slices just before I eat it so that they are very fresh and the texture and flavor is as rich and fresh and delicious as possible.
This is truly the best overnight oats recipe I have tried yet. One last tid-bit; if you prefer to have your peanut butter or almond butter mixed smoothly into the oats rather than having larger swirls and chunks of it throughout it, if you mix the syrup snd peanut butter together before adding it to the recipe, it thins it out just enough so that it mixes smoothly right into the mixture entirely rather than being swirls and gobs of peanut butter throughout.
However, I quite enjoy the peanut and almond butter swirl surprises in my bites of oats!!! Thank you for the recipe!!! So easy to prep the night before and throw it in our bags for a desk breakfast.
