Lists with This Book. I found this to be an engaging story and a quick read. At first I was put off by Mara's attitude, but once she started getting to know Clay and his darling sister Beth, the story picked up. I really appreciated that the romance wasn't sensual at all, and I loved how heroically Clay resisted kissing Mara until he knew she was a fellow believer.

You don't see that much in Christian fiction. Also, I loved how Beth shared the Gospel so clearly. Jun 30, Marie rated it it was ok. Simplistic writing, preachy and unrelatable characters.

Even some of the scenes were poorly described and left me wondering what the heck was happening. Dec 31, Gramy rated it really liked it Shelves: The most amazing results come to past with belief and faith in God, which was pictured perfectly in this tale. Nov 21, Stacey rated it really liked it Shelves: This is my favorite in the Kansas Bride's series! Sep 20, Minion rated it really liked it. I loved the setting and plot line, as well as the characters even if some were a little too shallow. Mara, at first I hated and I could not sympathize with at all and then she became likable by falling in love and doing the stupidest things ever.

See a Problem?

I suffered a lot of second hand embarrassment from her, but also a lot of laughs. This book was definitely more adventurous and extreme in an awesome way than 3. This book was definitely more adventurous and extreme in an awesome way than the others. I loved Clay and his devotion to God. My only problem is: Too preachy, insta-lovey, and the characters which I loved were more as a source of entertainment than real people.

Yet still worth the read.

Through Mara, I was able to see God working in her to change her character as the story progressed. Which means that by the time both Mara and Clay realize they liked one another I was totally rooting for her! This story is sweet with just the right touch of humor and seriousness. The characters are believable and there is not an excessive amount of sappy romance. If you are looking for an easy read that involves God at the center of the relationship then you will not be disappointed with "Bittersweet Bride"! This was one of the best inspirational romance novels I have read in ages.

Thanks for obeying God! Love when the complex issues of the heart unfold before my eyes. Miss Hunter's books are so engaging you won't want to put them down. Love, and a little mystry, but usually a happy ending.

Hunter is a splendid author as always and keeps your imagination intrigued from the beginning to the very end! I really liked this book. It was a story of two people who finally found a way to be together despite the obstacles. Can't wait to read the rest of Kansas bride's series. This book was excellent, typical of Denise. Denise brings out the best in all of her characters.
