Her first book Pugwall was published in and subsequently made into a TV series, followed by Pugwall's Summer in Joan of Art and out in The Worst Nurse. Many of her books touch upon the concerns that most young people have today, making and keeping friends, sibling rivalry, school environments and social issues which create confusion for young people.
As a result her fan mail often includes letters from children and teenagers with problems and no one to talk to, which she always answers. Margaret's books have won awards in Europe the White Raven award for Wally the Whiz Kid , and they are short-listed in all of the children's choice awards.
