That young man is so handsome. The book looks wonderful and romantic.
Your new book sounds very interesting! Thanks all for your comments. This book sounds amazing! He wore his kilt, as did many of our guests including both Dads and the best man. My son, born in England, is horrified at the thought of ever wearing one and I never like to remind him that I have lovely photos of when he was five, dressed in a kilt for my sisters wedding! You can never go wrongful with a hero in a kilt! This brings back memories of our visit to Scotland!
Wish I were there with you! My daughter brought a kilt back from Scotland for one of my sons, and he looked pretty good in it! Your story sounds fascinating. I love stories set in Scotland. Yes, this sounds like a fun story. I have Scottish ancestors, and when I was little, a friend brought my parents some yardage in our ancestral tartan, so I had a skirt out of it when I was about 5 years old!
As a matter of fact, I had a bagpiper play the bridal march for my wedding! However, my husband refused to wear a kilt or skirt as he called it. Kilts have to be worn with confidence or not at all! Bagpipes always make me cry. Looking forward to reading Glasgow Grace! You never told me. Do you know of any kilt heroes you can share with us? A kinda Country Christmas. A Romance ish Novella by Krista Phillips. Grant Us Grace 5 by Elizabeth Maddrey. The pictures were great!! It sounds like an interesting story.
Sounds like another great story to add to my TBR list!! Yes he does look like a cover model. The book ssounds wonderful. Thanks for the interview. He looks great in a kilt! Sounds like a great read. I am looking forward to reading this story! I enjoy books set in Scotland or Ireland. My ancestors came from both. A very handsome young man. He insists on taking her to his home to clean her up and invite her to lunch with his sister and uncle Willow decides to go with it As they continue walking to his home, Willow keeps looking for a cottage or type of Scottish building she figured would be his If only she could text her friends The lunch was very nice, his sister was very kind and the elderly uncle full of stories of days gone by.
Bryce can't keep his eyes of of Willow as she chats about her life back in Georgia, her salon and friends. He hears of her needing to go to another hostel and files it away. What neither of them can file away is the attraction they both have for each other.
The sparks started early and both are a bit inclined to want to act on them Bryce has huge responsibilities; he must maintain the castle legacy His beloved sister experienced the loss of her husband from the war in Afghanistan and has yet to come out of her mourning and join the world. He has not had any opportunities to find a true love as any who even came close did not want the real non glamorous life of maintaining centuries year old stones, hearths and lands. Bryce was the last of the line if his sister did not go out, live again Bryce was resigned to being like his uncle These two are very attracted to each other.
At first it seems like there will be a wonderful vacation fling But real life doesn't always work that way and the actual man is so much more than a fling.
Bryce is too- in someways and they both start and stop constantly in this story. So many mixed signals There are wonderful romantic phrases pouring out of Bryce's mouth. It was all the fantasy of what we think of when picturing Scotland, their men and their bodies in Kilts. I could see how this idea of friends loving Outlander and wanting to experience all it means to them Being strong and able like Claire, discovering what make you a better person and then finding the glorious love with a man like Jamie Frasier. In theory, it all sounds like a terrific adventure. The only problem in the actual doing is when Outlander becomes more of an obstacle and focus then the experience its self.
This well meaning idea The other issue which caused me to not fall as hard as I could was Willow's back and forth. Bryce was just what she should have wanted and he was committed to her early Overall, though, if you love the Outlander series who doesn't and want to take a walk in all of the same types of places where the events took place, then this is a series which could be for you. The cover blurb of this book almost reads like my life: Okay, so I am already married and wasn't going to look for my own Jaime, but ever since I first visited Scotland back in , I felt a connection to that land.
Then, I discovered the Outlander books and show, and my love was intensified. The Story- Willow is visiting Scotland with her friends, but they will all be splitting up to realize their own private Scottish fantasies. When she runs into a real-life Scottish Laird, reality blurs with fantasy. My Thoughts- I really wanted to like this one, but I didn't connect with Willow. Something about her seemed too fickle or flippant to me. I feel like some of the magic of the place was also lost in the retelling.
The Scottish people I've met have this inherent storytelling ability and connection to the supernatural and legends that didn't translate. This is a very easy, fun read. There is nothing really missing, there are just things I felt could have been better realized. If you are an Outlander fangirl, this one is expressly for you because the author totally gets it. If you have left your soul in Scotland, you might be left wishing for a little more, but will still be happy to have visited once again.
Mar 03, Danielle added it. The idea was good but I found myself wondering when things would start to pick up. I had a hard time getting into the characters. Overall at this point I decided to give this a rest in hopes I pick it back up soon. Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews I've never read Outlander nor have I seen the show, I know about the premise of it and I have to say I've been thoroughly impressed by Janice Maynard's Hot for the Scot series in which three childhood friends travel to Scotland hoping to meet their very own highlander.
They arrive in Scotland and split up, each going their own way for a month to make their own adventure without internet, cell phones or other technology. I loved the first book Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews I've never read Outlander nor have I seen the show, I know about the premise of it and I have to say I've been thoroughly impressed by Janice Maynard's Hot for the Scot series in which three childhood friends travel to Scotland hoping to meet their very own highlander.
I loved the first book so much, I knew I had to read the second one and while I missed its release I bought it as soon as I realized it and set out to read it. Scot of My Dreams is every bit as sweet and charming as the first book, but I also felt it was a bit more serious and sexy and I loved every minute of it.
Willow Ryman has second guessed this trip to Scotland since she and her two friends planned it; leaving behind her fledgling business and taking off for parts unknown in hopes of having a wild adventure with a Scotsman is so beyond her sensible side. As someone who has watched her mother struggle trying to make ends meet, and seen men go back on promise after promise Willow is pretty sure true love doesn't exist or at least it's not in the cards for her.
As she explores the Scottish countryside she is knocked sideways not by a highlander but by a beast of a dog, only her savior is a man in a kilt and Willow can't help but be charmed. Bryce McBrae can't believe his luck when his dog knocks a woman down and then her sweet southern accent knocks him for a loop. Bringing her to his home is risky, but seeing her with his sister and his elderly uncle makes him want to know her better.
I enjoyed this story quite a bit especially considering Bryce is a Laird with a family castle and community responsibilities most would never understand and Willow is a hairdresser from a small town. Their lives couldn't be more different, but the attraction between them burns brightly and despite their concerns about becoming involved they just can't seem to keep away from each other. An intriguing storyline, engaging characters, and a love story that succeeds despite the odds made Scot of My Dreams an exciting and memorable romance.
Mar 03, LadyTechie rated it really liked it. The Kilted Heroes series continues with Scot of my Dreams. I received an eArc from NetGalley in exchange for honest review. Scot of my Dreams is Willow's story. The three friends split up and follow their own paths in Scotland. Willow stayed near the town where they came in on the train.
Interestingly enough she also meets her Scot, Bryce, when walking near water when she was accosted by his giant, lovable dog. Willow has a very different background from her pals after they were moved away from The Kilted Heroes series continues with Scot of my Dreams.
Willow has a very different background from her pals after they were moved away from each other as children. Her life was much less stable growing up than her two friends. She and her mother really struggled and it affects her vision of relationships and love. But, Bryce, who also has never been in love is honest, endearing and forward. There are several great things about Scot of My Dreams. The setting is described in an absolutely great manner and really gives the reader a good sense of Scotland and its beauty.
My absolute favorite part of the book happens towards the end for which I am not going to give a spoiler but, suffice it to say the reader will know it when they read it and agree with me that Bryce is absolutely amazing. The fact that she was in Inverness was really neat. The book kept me interested and was hard to put down. Loved the romance and ending. I trully didn't want it to end. I think everyone will enjoy it but specifically my Outlander family.
Scot of My Dreams by Janice Maynard is a magical journey readers won't forget. I was instantly dragged into Hayley's travel. She is forced onto a trip most would dream about taking. Her friends forced her. They all love Outlander series which inspired their trip to Scotland.
One of the three friends is wealthy and paid for their travel. The other two only had to bring enough to eat and for their own hotel room. I enjoyed the women's banter as they all fussed on explorations and embracing for a b Scot of My Dreams by Janice Maynard is a magical journey readers won't forget.
I enjoyed the women's banter as they all fussed on explorations and embracing for a brewing romance. All of them except for Hayley. She was the a tough critic against the fact that they each would find a Scot. One that would sweep them off their feet. But to meet this man of their dreams they need to go traveling on separate paths. I laughed along as the story unfolded. This tale was beautifully told. Engaging from beginning to end. A romance does come to brew within the pages. It's sweet and believable. A sexy Scotsman and an epic castle will surely keep readers hooked.
Scot of My Dreams is fast-paced, exciting, and unforgettable. I finished reading it within an hour. I simply could not stop reading this novel. Overall, I highly recommend Janice Maynard's book to readers everywhere. Oct 16, Michelle Padilla rated it really liked it Shelves: I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways. I really enjoy this short romance story. Traveling to Scotland and finding your own Jamie Fraser is exactly what Willow wanted to do. But could she really do it? Enters Bryce a Laird of a Scottish castle with a sister needing friendship.
Can they find romance together or are they just going to be friends?? Three childhood friends as adults embark on an adventure to Scotland to find their own "Jamie Fraser". As fanatics of the Outlander series, it only seems logical to them. Let's see if their dreams come true. May 03, H. Fowler rated it really liked it Recommends it for: Fans of Scotland-set contemporaries, Outlander fans.
So when the series was announced and then premiered on Starz, I almost peed myself.
And I love that show. Part of the fun and sometimes bane of the TV show is the explosion of the fandom. From that explosion has grown a whole new sub-genre of romance, which I call "Outlander Fantasy. This is the first one I've read, but there are two more in this series, and at least one other major book with a similar theme.
I get to live vicariously through these characters and their fairy tales. This was a really sweet story with a good, rich thread of serious hotness. It gives enough of a taste of Scotland especially of places I dream of visiting myself someday that I felt like I was there, without being drowned in tour guide information. The heroine is sweet without being too-dumb-to-live, and the hero, of course, is out of this world. In any other contemporary romance, I might be turned off by the implausibility of this story. This event just happens to take place at the right time.
This perfect guy just happens to stroll by, and just happens to fall for the heroine immediately.
He just happens to Why else would we read them? For example, I loves me some vampire heroes. When I think "real" vampires, I think more "Salem's Lot" than "Twilight" which I try not to think about at all, thank you very much. Plus, my favorite genres are paranormal romance and urban fantasy -- we're not looking at a whole lot of realism there, now, are we? So I'm more than willing to set aside my incredulity in exchange for a good yarn.
This is one of those yarns. The sweet spun fantasy of this book scratched an itch I hardly ever recognize in myself -- my unhealthy obsession with a fictional hero. In the end, I turned off the Kindle with a satisfied sigh, feeling a little giggly and a little fiction-jealous. Maynard has got a simple, clean style that possesses lyricism and richness. And now I want to read the other two books! Just suspend your disbelief and go with it. May 16, Sandra rated it really liked it.
And this was the thing that connected me to the book. Willow is easy to connect with, haunted by her past and unwilling to let herself be dependent on a man until Bryce shows her that they can be partners even as she lets go of one dream for another she never imagined for herself. In the space of a year the story of Jamie and Claire had become such a pop culture hit that I felt it cheapened my quarter century love affair with them.
Then Willow reminded me. How I wanted to stand in front of a stone circle and place my hand on one of the boulders to see if I felt anything. How my fascination with all things Scotch and Celtic was rooted inside of me because these characters have lived in my heart for half of my life. So, yes, even though this book represented the thing that marred my love for Outlander, it was the catalyst in reminding me of what Outlander means to me.
Apr 26, ErinMickC rated it really liked it. I kinda wanted to hate this book. The cover was a little too cutesy for me so I was expecting a syrupy love story. Scot Of My Dreams was really honest and touching. Sure, but not in a bad way. I am going to read the previous book in the series right now and put the next book on my TBR list right away! The Good -Oh man, Bryce. A kilted hero who takes care of others, yes please!
There was so much to like about this I kinda wanted to hate this book. There was so much to like about this character. I adored they way Bryce proclaimed his love at the end; it was incredibly thoughtful that he let Willow make her own decision and it was so darn perfect that he was forced to make his declaration of love first. Having a female sister really humanized Bryce. The Bad -It took me awhile to get into this book.
By Chapter 6 I felt like I had gotten into the groove, but I almost put down this book and gave up a few times. Also, the gift that the newlyweds in the hostel gave Willow totally set me up for a secret baby that never happened, not ok! The Unique What a fun premise for a book! I loved that Maynard brought Outlander into the storyline not only as the impetus for the gals to get to Scotland but that Abigail and Willow also watched the show.
The Outlander element was just so creative and so on point.
I can totally see some of my girlfriends deciding to take a trip to Scotland based on their love of Outlander maybe not for a month though! This does not affect my opinion of of the book or the content of my review. Feb 09, Amanda R rated it it was amazing Shelves: Thanks to Kensington and Netgalley for the book in exchange for a honest review!
Have you watched Outlander? If you have you've probably wished for the same adventure to befall you that Claire has been given.
Hayley is a HUGE fan of the Outlanders series so that was one of her big reasons for choosing Scotland as her vacation destination. The cover blurb of this book almost reads like my life: It's an accidental occurrence when Brodie, a large dog, knocks her down near a stream. I never felt Angus' depth; he seemed very walled off, until the last chapter where feelings are declared. Willow is the type of person I want to be. Other books in the series. They also agree to strike out individually for the month and become a part of the areas that each is visiting.
If not then what are you waiting for?!?! Hot Scotsman saving the girl and they fall in love! Sure, sure there are a ton of other things that go on in the show and the books they're based on but the gyst is this: Ok so in the first book we followed Hayley around and w Thanks to Kensington and Netgalley for the book in exchange for a honest review! Ok so in the first book we followed Hayley around and watched her romance bloom. Now we get to follow Willow around. Willow has left her salon business behind in the hands of her stylists and she's not used to taking time off.
Her best friends wanted to have the same adventure that they saw in Outlander and McKenzie paid for the flights; how could she say no?!? She figured she'd go and have a relaxing time and go home to her salon and remember the trip forever. Then she met Bryce and was stunned that maybe she would have a holiday romance. Bryce has a lot on his shoulders and when his dog knocks over a tall woman and dirtys her up.
Shes beautiful and he's attracted but his life is so complicated. His sister is still mourning her husband and his uncle lives with him as well but is going downhill fast. He can't help but want to steal time with Willow. She's brought back some life to his sister and she treats his uncle well. She also doesn't act like his money and laird title means anything to her.
I loved the first one and when I saw this one I had to grab it and I couldn't even wait until it was close to release to read it.

It was fun and it just made my yearnings to travel to Scotland and the like even more. I hope you read it, love it and then leave a review for the author. Apr 13, J rated it liked it Shelves: Scot of my Dreams is the second book in the "Kilted Heroes" series, and the first book I have read by this author. Although technically a part of a series each book can easily be read as a standalone as they all occur at the same time, but with the three main women being in separate places in Scotland, and they don't have contact with each other.
