Variety is key, so try to offer a range of different tastes and textures as this may well help your baby enjoy a wider variety of foods. Lumpy textures are important for the development of speech muscles. Introduce lumpier foods such as a potato and carrot puree with tiny lumps in it at around 7 months old, leading up to a coarse or fork mash from 8 months. A predisposition for sugary foods can lead to dental decay as well as other serious health problems including diabetes and obeseity.
There are plenty of other ways to flavour food and enhance their palettes using herbs and spices. Let your baby explore new tastes and textures at his own pace.
With a little bit of encouragement and support you can help him get used to different types of foods and become confident about tasting them. Taste Tips and advice on how to help stimulate your baby's taste buds. Taste 0 to 3 Months 4 to 6 Months Baby milestones: What can my baby remember?
Since babies haven't yet gained the experience that adults have, they are unable to experience emotions in quite the same way. For example, the earliest "smile" -- that of a 2- or 3-week-old baby -- is the result of neurological activity, not an indication that the baby is happy, as we might expect. Here's a look at how some of your baby's basic emotions -- happiness, anger, and fear -- develop during the first year of life.
Usually, a face-to-face "conversation" with a caregiver in which the baby coos, the caregiver responds perhaps by smiling and saying something like, "Yes, you are happy! A wailing, red-faced baby may seem angry, but is that an accurate assessment of what he's feeling?
What adults might see as anger, a very young baby under 6 months feels as the sensations of an unpleasant state -- he could be wet, hungry, or tired, for example.
During the first six months of life, it's important for a baby to discover that when he has these sensations -- which will later become emotions -- things will get fixed. Discovering this helps give him a sense of security. In order to reach the point where they can feel anger as adults do, babies have to go through a building-block process in which they develop the experience and expectations to feel anger and frustration.

Yes, these are "classics" but nonetheless super awesome for babies. My son is captivated by The Wheels on the Bus during a segment of one of the episodes and we've literally watched it over a hundred times. I think it's great that there's so much to see and watch throughout each DVD episode. I highly recommend these to parents because kids love it! Used to use these videos a lot as a nanny and they saved me the other night when babysitting one of my nieces, great videos for engaging infants-toddlers though I personally believe they should only be watched sparingly not just set on repeat to keep a child zombified.
Baby Einstein videos are the only thing that my son will watch. We started playing them for him when he got fussy around two or three months, and he is now 20 months old and still love them. The only episode he doesn't like is the first sounds episode.

Other than that, we love these baby Einstein videos! The only way I can get dinner cooked in the evening! It's not that she loves the screen in general, because she'll lose interest in almost any other movie or TV show pretty quickly.

She is such an active kid, but we can always rely on Baby Einstein to get her to sit still if we need it. It also makes her so happy. If she's upset, we can whip it out and fix the tears almost every time.
When she was a little infant she hated riding in the car at night. Would scream for so long. But when we discovered Baby Einstein, she could do night time car trips!
