But the one that resonated with my heart the most is this: Most of us will only do small things. But we can do them with great love. But he left a trail of love crumbs. One that can be followed from his heart to dozens of others.
A trail of love crumbs.

But I pray my love is engraved on many hearts. Melanie I am a shepherd, wife and mother of four amazing children, three that walk the earth with me and one who lives with Jesus. The h has huge mopey moments and cries on Grampa's shoulder, the H shows up to tell them that the real kidnapper, the h's adoptive mother's husband, has been caught and will go to jail. Enter stage right and the h's ex-fiance shows up at the h's flat.
He wants to apologize for giving the h grief about finding her real family and to let us all know that he found a more biddable girl to marry. While the h is pottering about her flat, the ex-fiance answers the phone and it some guy asking for the h. After the fiance leaves, the H comes raging over and demands the h let him into her flat.
He is all about ranting about how the ex-fiance is just a fortune hunter and the h will have to marry him to be safe from that predatory species, that she is no longer a part of, as he is the only one who can defend her from those dire impostors, every one else in her family is too old or too far away.
The h declares she is only marrying for love and the H realizes he is utterly defeated. Finally, the H admits that he loves the h madly. He isn't engaged to the OW, he was using her as a decoy for his feelings for the h and now that he is on his knees to beg for the h's hand in marriage, the h decides it is time to lurve it up and plan the wedding for the pretty cute HP HEA. This one was interesting cause the H and h had to do investigations the really old fashioned way and dig out records and talk to neighbors and track down people without the googles.
The H was pretty mean several times in denying his love for the h, but persistence wins in the end and the h was determined to get her way, so overall this was not a bad little HPlandia outing. Grampy bank president is intrigued, but calls in his next in line at the bank the hero to see what he thinks.
He immediately leaps to the conclusion that the heroine is a fortune seeker and tells her to leave the family alone. He grew up next door to the family and feels protective of them, even though he is not related. Grampy bank president calls her for lunch because he wants to talk some more about the baby who was kidnapped.
The heroine accepts and the hero sees them dining together.
She challenges him to help her find her true identity. So they travel north together to the town that is on her birth certificate.
While they are traveling, the hero puts the moves on the heroine. He goads her into admitting she is attracted to him and declares they will have an affair before all is said and done. He will never love anyone — not even the suitable woman he will eventually marry.
The heroine later finds out that his whole family was wiped out in a forest fire in France when hero was 18 and he never wants to feel that pain of loss again. Later on he finds a bullet-proof excuse to rebuff her.
She is the lost baby and therefore like a sister to him. The reunion scene with her mother was genuinely touching, btw. The tide of the romance turns to the heroine pursuing the hero, which I liked better because the hero was fighting himself and going down in defeat all over the place. I liked the heroine a lot in this — and I could put up with the hero because he was trying so hard not to love.
You could almost see the thought bubble over his head when he got carried away and had to remind himself that the heroine was an adventuress. View all 6 comments. Oct 06, Naksed marked it as skimmed-it. The H in this story was horrible yet he gets everything, an adoring heroine, a wife with loads of money and a ready-made, extended family, and he gets it all despite being horrible and not lifting his finger.
I couldn't see what the h saw in him then again, from what I skimmed, she was dumb as a post View all 3 comments. I was not happy with some of the hero's decisions and actions AFTER they'd consummated their relationship. Did he sleep with what's her name or just go out with her??

He even goes so far to try to blackmail her to get her to stay away from them and she challenges him to then help prove that she isn't Kimberly. Together they travel to Kay's birthplace and discover the real truth. They also discover their passion for each actually he's clear from their first kiss he wants her, she on the other hand is ready to fight him off other but all Ben wants is a passionate affair while Kay's interested in love.
Nita is this girl who's supposedly going to marry as he's been dating for a while but she's pretty much a non issue as she's hardly ever mentioned, and makes one appearance in the book to scare Kay away from him. It was a good read, a bit emotional when she discovers the truth of her "mother" and then finding her new family and becoming reunited with them.

Ben was really cruel while pushing her away because he was too scared to admit his real feelings about her and I didn't really like how he was an insensitive jerk at times in the things he said to her and the way he continued to view her but then he's your typical jerk HP hero.
