How is Jeremy going to afford this? If you read the first book, Benny and the Bank Robber, you will remember the race Benny won with Black Switch whilst Jeremy was in prison. Unbeknown to most, Jeremy had given the bill of sale to Doc Daniel for safe keeping and also to use if ever Abigail and Benny were in financial trouble, in order to sell Black Switch.

With Jeremy home from St. Louis with his doctor's certification the wedding soon takes place. Whilst away on their honeymoon, Benny got the townsfolk motivated and they helped paint and to up their house which was also the surgery. God's provision is found throughout this book. Nobody was rolling in money but very realistically God provided when folks needed it! Towards the end we learn a n important lesson the other way of how money, for a season, spoils Violet, one of the Mitchell twins introduced in this story.

God uses Benny to bring her back down to earth and learning to be appreciative again rather than acting like a spoiled brat! Caleb Sutter now Caleb Prentice had been away at school but is sent home in disgrace although no one is quite sure why. Turns out he had been drinking. He got a job at the local wheelwrights and one lunchtime when Benny was coming home early due to being sick with a bug that Jeremy had caught from one of his patients, Caleb drunk again laid into Benny, kicking him etc.

Benny could do nothing. Benny's grandfather pays for both Benny and his best friend Jason to attend boarding school in Detroit. A mystery sneaks up on the reader and the characters in a most surprising manner - very well done on the author's part. Benny, Jason and their new friend Jack find themselves having to watch their backs as well as trying to solve the deadly mystery.

Benny has been given permission to carry his knife at all times has it hidden in a sheaf under his trouser legs and the boys have also been awarded bodyguards that they can and cannot see. The thread of the gospel along with behaving in an upright manner is throughout this book. You can let your child read this book independently with no fear that you will have awkward questions to answer afterwards! As for our family, we read it aloud and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have to say that it needs some minor editing but honestly, nothing to detract from the story. Very good writing and storyline. One person found this helpful. Benny and the Bank Robber is a good piece of historical fiction aimed at grade school kids. It's told from the perspective of t Ten-year-old Benjamin Richardson knows how to talk a good game about trusting God and relying on His provision, but can he match actions to words? It's told from the perspective of ten-year-old Benny. Although, in most places, the scene breaks are marked by images of a book, cougar, or horse, there were a few times that the scene break occurred in the middle of a paragraph.

Nevertheless, the story is engaging and appropriate for younger audience. Benny faces challenges that are realistic for the setting and deals with them in a way that makes reasonable sense for his age. He experiences a range of emotions from confidence and doubt to grief and joy. The language of the book is generally accessible for upper elementary kids of average reading ability with a few challenging words. From his father, who died in a tragic accident, Benny learned the importance of following the teachings of the Bible. After his father's death, Benny and his mother must sell most of their belongings and travel west to live with relatives.

When Benny almost looses his mother also, he must continue his journey with a stranger, a bank robber named Jeremy. While Benny learned a lot from Jeremy, Jeremy also learned a lot from Benny! It is a good book for children, as there are lessons about life, taught in this historic adventure. It is interesting to go back in time and let your imagination take over, to a time where when things were simple. Still, some things never change. The book was great! It deserves a ten star and recommend to everyone.

Lots of valuable lessons, book talks about God, just lovelyfull. There were some parts of the book I thought were well done--specifically the first scene and the middle of the book--but I felt the rest was very lacking. The plot, while catching me off guard fairly often, felt random, not fleshed out well enough, and too convenient in many places.

People changed too much too quickly more than once and the ending was anticlimactic. I just wasn't impressed with the writing as a whole or with the story most of the time. The first part of the book was tragic and engrossing but the second part did not keep my interest and I had to stop when someone was changed overnight after years of secular religion. It was too convenient for the book's story but not really believable. To get the free app, enter mobile phone number. See all free Kindle reading apps.

Jeremy is back on the farm with Benny, Abigail, Uncle Tom, Aunt Caroline and of course his horse, Black Switch after being released from prison after only serving 2 years of a 10 year sentence. Overcoming the problem of people not looking at his face is not going to be so easy to solve. As the book progresses someone suggests that Jeremy use his theatrical skills to make up his face so as not to be a distraction.
