Losing Control (Out of Promises Book 2)

While Gia does finally come around and expose her vulnerability, parts of the book felt underdeveloped and I would've liked to see Wilder flush out the plot lines a little better. It felt too short once she got to the good parts with Ethan -- which after all, is the whole point of the book. Do note, this is book one in a series, and it looks like Wilder does expand the plotline more in future books. That said, I'm not a big fan of the shorter, novelette-style reads that leave you hanging and feeling like something is missing unless you read book two.

While it is okay to have a series, and leave some things for future books, the first book should still be flushed out enough and be perfectly fine as a stand alone book. While this one kind of is, the end would be considered highly underdeveloped and rushed without reading the remaining books in the series. And that's not my cup-of-tea with romance or any other novels. So, overall, I did like the book. Perfect for a bubble bath or beach day or in my case, carpool line! And I probably will read more of Wilder as I think there is a ton of potential here.

I just hope more romance authors move away from this type of "series" novelettes and just do the entire novel justice from the start or as a stand alone.

Aug 05, Nicole rated it liked it Shelves: This was such a cute short story that I easily devoured in just a little bit of time! Losing Control is about a weekend that Gia spends with her close friends at a rock festival. When they finally meet, will sparks fly and romance bloom or is Gia intent on only having a goodtime with her friends?

The story line wa This was such a cute short story that I easily devoured in just a little bit of time! The story line was especially interesting with the focus not being on one of the rock stars but rather the guy putting the entire event together. And Ethan is sweet, caring and determined to show Gia that she deserves something special. There was a lot of back-story, which was nice for a shorter story, and it left me longing for more — in a good way.

I think that this could have easily been a great plot line for a full-length novel or for a novella series. When it ended I was definitely disappointed but not because it was done poorly but because I simply wanted more. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Gia is a divorced woman who feels broken. Every year she attends a weekend concert with her friends. Ethan has seen and noticed Gia every year at the concert venue he owns.

She was married but he promises that if she is single this year he will try to make something happen. Can Gia let Ethan in? Can Ethan have the patience to wait for her to come around?

1 Corinthians 9:25

Will these two end up together? Interesting plot, I absolutely loved it. I also loved the characters more than I can say. The flow was good. The Gia is a divorced woman who feels broken. The pace was excellent. All in all a great book. I felt that this book was about getting over your fears and past.

I mean Gia keeps saying she is broken and doesn't know who she is. I love the idea behind the book. I enjoyed the authors writing style. I will definitely be looking for the rest of this series to find out what happens with these characters. Great author and great book! Aug 08, Betty Hart rated it really liked it. Losing Control by Desiree Wilder is a "boy trying to get girl" at an outdoor concert event.

In this case, I guess the storyline called for the sex scenes. How Ethan handles things got Gia to realize she was worthy of love. There was very interesting information about how Ethan created and ran the concerts every year. Also, there were some bits and pieces about the rock stars. All the characters were interesting, appealing and fun. They fit right in with the story.

I really enjoyed this fun to re Losing Control by Desiree Wilder is a "boy trying to get girl" at an outdoor concert event. I really enjoyed this fun to read book. I loved the characters and the where the story was based. I look forward to reading more from this author. This book was an ok read. It takes place over two days at a rock concert. The heroine Gia is pretty much partying and smoking the whole time thinking about getting laid and feeling insecure.

The hero Ethan is sweet and sensitive and has been in love with Gia from afar for 10 years. The ending is very abrupt. I thought the author's descriptive writing was good and I had a good visual for the settings and characters. I did not like the 2 pov.

We got a scene from Gia's pov and then the next chapter This book was an ok read. We got a scene from Gia's pov and then the next chapter was the same scene from Ethan's pov. Sep 13, Melissa at My Chaotic Ramblings rated it liked it. It was a short read with more back story than real plot. There is a sexual content warning but there isn't any actual sex until the last chapter and then it is really only a quick page or two.

Gia and Ethan are both kinda wishy washy for my taste and I don't think that I will continue on with this series.. May 15, Amelie rated it it was ok Shelves: Sep 15, Niki rated it liked it.

The story line wa This was such a cute short story that I easily devoured in just a little bit of time! Gia and Ethan are both kinda wishy washy for my taste and I don't think that I will continue on with this series.. We need to see if and how they get through Gia's problems and the process they go through to become a real couple in love. That being said I did enjoy the story and will eventually buy the next book in the series to find out hopefully what happened to the characters and also why. All the characters were interesting, appealing and fun. It is way too short.

It was a cute story. I never like books that do one point of view and then switch characters and do the other POV and re-tell the last chapter. This one switches POV but does very little re-telling. Gia is broken and Ethan, the owner of the park ha held a candle for the unknown Gia for years. He finally meets her and won't let her get away. Gia is only looking for a good time after her bitter marriage.

Oct 17, Keri rated it really liked it Shelves: I really enjoyed this book. It was a shorter story but not too short. Ethan just sounds like a very dreamy man: The fact he had been waiting around 10 years to finally get to talk to Gia was cute. Aug 21, Dottie rated it liked it. Cute little story about four women going to a rock festival and a guy who's been crushing on one of the women for years and finally talks to her plus My only real objection as the end just kinda ended. Short story and a good first dip into the writing pool. Actually I just read their story continues with book 2; suddenly the end makes more sense now!

Gia wants to take back her life after a failed marriage and divorce she wants to take things easy and enjoy it but she has issues she needs to solve Ethan is a great guy, hardworking, responsible and I love how he follows his dream and made it come true, he really wants to know Gia and spend time with her but he needs to find a way to make it happen. Aug 22, Jane Patton rated it liked it. I wish a little more time had been given to the background story, it would help explain the scene after the sunset better.

I felt like I was missing something. I also felt the story ended rather abruptly and I was left with too many unanswered questions Overall, I enjoyed the story and will probably read other works by this author. Really like it but, I don't know, Gia kind of annoyed me, not at the beginning, but when she meets Ethan. He is gorgeous and sweet and waited for her for a long time and here she is, looking for something wild that probably will leave her feeling bad about herself. I don't know how he even understands that but he does..

Jul 19, Veeroo Arreola rated it liked it Shelves: This was probably one of the quickest reads I've ever had. I didn't realize it was so short. Not a bad story, the author could've expanded in several things that would've made it better, but since the book only covers 2 days- she didn't really have much to work with. I am downloading book 2 now. Jan 02, Nancy Huddleston rated it really liked it. I loved Gia and Ethan. They are strong characters with life lessons that have shaped who they are.

It was a different read,in that the characters aren't 19 and they are more believable. The author did an amazing job. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Desiree Wilder is a small town girl from South Dakota who daydreams a lot and writes it all down at the end of the day.

A nudge and one step in the right direction was all it took for her to discover that she could pull characters out of her head and make them say and do whatever she wanted them to on paper. Her first series, Losing Control, published under Limitless Publishing, was the beginning Desiree Wilder is a small town girl from South Dakota who daydreams a lot and writes it all down at the end of the day.

It was powerful and convinced her to write a spin-off, Sean, in which she pushed her limits even further. As she delves into the unknown world of self-publishing for her second series, the Phoenix Four, she welcomes the opportunity to personally make her vision come to life. Book one, Emilee, promises to be a sexy, funny, yet emotional look into the lives of four women who met in college, and became sisters for life. Unquestionably her best work to date, Desiree is extremely proud of it.

Music inspires her and is a big part of her everyday life. Her very close family is her strength and her biggest supporters. I honestly stumbled upon the second book not knowing that is was realized so not I am going to keep a closer I eye for the third. It is gut reaching to think of what the sweet Gia has gone through in her life.

But just like I loved this book. But just like Ethan we don't know until Gia feels it is time to tell. That is what keeps your reading in this book and the love that Ethan continues to show her. Oct 17, Keri rated it really liked it Shelves: Another shorter book but I really liked it. This one showed more of the relationship between Ethan and Gia. You see them connecting more and their feelings for one another. We also get to see more into poor Gia's past and what she has gone through. I sure hope there is a book 3 in the making though or I am going to be disappointed.

I feel like the ending is more of a cliff hanger than it is a final ending. We need to see if and how they get through Gia's problems and the process they go through Another shorter book but I really liked it. We need to see if and how they get through Gia's problems and the process they go through to become a real couple in love. Please, please, please let there be a 3!!!!! Sep 24, Rita rated it really liked it Shelves: Wow, this was good. I cannot believe how that ended.

No closure at all. I don't see book three anywhere in sight. That was refreshing getting to see a male so sensitive and direct about his feelings. Gia needs some serious help. I am getting pieces of her past; I am ready to know what happened. Will Lex come back into the picture? If he does, he needs a thorough smack down. This is good stuff.

Losing Control

I can't wait for the next one. Nov 26, Karen marked it as abandoned. I got about halfway through and couldn't make myself finish this. The first person narration alternates between the hero and heroine, and in both cases the language is stilted and flat. There's a lot of telling and not much showing.

Also, they flush their condoms down the toilet, and that's annoying.

I sometimes wish a book that leaves you wondering what happens next told me that before I purchased it. While I prefer series books I also prefer books to leave me with a conclusion rather than a what happens next. That being said I did enjoy the story and will eventually buy the next book in the series to find out hopefully what happened to the characters and also why. This was another very quick read. Books 1 and 2 together only cover a 5 day period.

But much to say, wasn't a bad book. I did feel like I needed more though. Plus it ended in an almost cliffhanger I wish there had been an epilogue since I haven't seen talk of another book. May 14, Lindsay rated it liked it. I liked the first book a little bit better than the second book. There was something forced in the second book. I can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like the chemistry was so much better in the first book. The potential is there for these books to be great though! Dec 20, Liz Marie rated it liked it.
