Even last generation Xbox titles receive enhancements for the Xbox One X, usually seeing a resolution bump to 4K. Xbox Platform Lead Bill Stillwell explained the effort that goes into backward compatibility and adding Xbox One X enhancements on top of that. I like walking sims, but I'm not completely satisfied with this one. Its mostly down to the story, with plots twists that were unsurprising and tense moments that actually weren't very exciting. You get to know the characters well, but there's absolutely no personal growth. Which is a shame as the characters had some pretty hefty personal problems that weren't resolved or even fully addressed. The entire experince felt average at best and pointless at worst.
Please don't pay full price if you buy it.
Its a stretch calling this a game as it is more of a short interactive story. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this title none the less. Interesting story, wonderful voice acting and artwork. For such a short game the character depth and development was a joy. I cared about everyone in this game.
My one criticism for thr developers would be that they timed out dialog choices way to quick. Also, loved playing with developer comments but they should not collide with game dialog. Hoping you all make another game! I was able to avoid everything related to this game and went in blind Don't read any more reviews or articles, buy and play this one now!
For a story game, it's not too bad. There were a couple stops that I got stuck on. The very ending froze up on me a couple times and I had to reinstall the game after repeated xbox restarts.
Overall, the story is ok, but tedious too. A lot of going back and forth. A lot of people didn't like the ending. I thought it fit the tone of the game quite well, which was sort of plodding and slow, with a couple bits of good emotional sections. If you want to play a better story game, get "What Remains of Edith Finch. Probably the best game I've played in a while. Full of suspense, and kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was gonna happen next.
I enjoyed every second that I played this game. Firewatch was like playing a book. Everything about this game is superb, the voice acting, the writing, the visuals,the story, and everything else in between.

Firewatch was a pleasure to play and experience, so good that I will replay it many times. Didn't really know what to expect from this game but I did give it a fair shake. I don't want to post spoilers but my advice is to save your money and rent an indie movie instead.
