What does it do? I haven't made it without the lanolin so I can't say what happens without it, but since it's such a small amount, I think you will probably be ok. I love the very idea. Better late than never for me. Must try making some. I've been transitioning to chemical-free products. I love homemade body care products. I can't wait to make it. I have everything but the water.
I am SO pumped about this series! Homemade all natural products are my favorite kind of projects. This skin cream sounds lovely.
Can't wait to see what is next in the series I use a local gal's organic cold cream on my face and homemade products are just so much better. I've always wanted to try this! Oh this is nice! I've never tried making my own skin care products, but I don't see why not Thanks for sharing this, Winnie: I have always wanted to try making home products like this.
Could I use Shea butter instead of beeswax? Having trouble finding it and I have all the other ingredients. I don't want to wait to order beeswax online! I'm so excited to make this! So funny, I used to work for a large cosmetic company and used to formulate skincare and many, many years ago, we did a major reformulation to take out all animal products out of our formulations, such as lanolin. And lanolin is one of the best ingredients for your skin! And you need all that essential oils, which may be an irritant to some people, to mask the lanolin smell. And keeping it in the fridge is wise due to lack of a preservative.
All the best to you! Love the idea of making your own skin cream. Best way to know exactly what goes into it. I'm wondering if there's another way to emulsify this recipe?
Most wished for Previous page. Hi Paula, As I stated above, this is adapted from Rosemary's recipe, yes. This cream is just wonderful, thank you! Hi Lora, The recipe is designed to be made in a regular blender so I think you should be ok. I cannot say enough good things about how this orange-scented skin cream recipe functions: Subscribe to our Podcast.
My blender has a one piece lid and I imagine turning it on high without the lid would be quite messy! Also, it's a one piece glass base and it doesn't come apart either, and the blades are fixed, not removable, so I think it would be hard to get the cream out once done Hi Lora, The recipe is designed to be made in a regular blender so I think you should be ok. It doesn't splatter all over or anything.
Also, my blender doesn't have removable blades and I had no problem getting the cream out with a flexible spatula. If you are truly worried, you could try a food processor if you have one. Just keep in mind I didn't try it out in one so I cannot vouch for that method. A lovely idea and also great for holiday gift giving. It must smell so good. Why refined coconut oil? I only but virgin.. Would it make a difference in the recipe? Hi Ashley, I've always used virgin coconut oil in my homemade skin creams and it works great so I don't think it would make a difference here.
This recipe looks amazing! I can't wait to try it.

Welcome, I don't meet a lot of other Sylvies! I love, love, LOVE this cream! I made it with rosemary infused water and lavender essential oil for my Mom's birthday. It is the only one so far that actually gets soaked up by the skin.
I guess the secret is the water. When you mix water and oil, it is more easily absorbed. This is definitely a make again!!!
I'm wondering if I could use my leftover lanolin cream from breastfeeding in this recipe. Thanks so much- I'm looking forward to making this recipe! Dermatological research suggests that the bioactive ingredients used in cosmeceuticals have benefits beyond the traditional moisturizer e. Biocompatible and environmentally friendly natural compounds have the potential to provide materials with photoresistant and thermoresistant properties. Cosmetics, and these related products, although regulated, are not approved by FDA prior to sale. Some alternative and natural products and therapies may be harmful, either to the skin or systemically. The FDA recommends understanding the ingredient label and says "There is no list of ingredients that can be guaranteed not to cause allergic reactions, so consumers who are prone to allergies should pay careful attention to what they use on their skin", further warning that "[t]here is no basis in fact or scientific legitimacy to the notion that products containing natural ingredients are good for the skin".
Food preservatives are commonly used to preserve the safety and efficacy in these products. Alternative remedies may increase the prevalence of eczema. Given the shortage of evidence for natural skin care efficacy, if applied it may often need to be used in combination with conventional treatment, rather than independently.
