I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys lighthearted science fiction. I'll be looking for other books or sequels by this author, he has great potential.
I loved science fiction as a teenager, even became obsessed at one point, one of my favorites was the great Asimov, and I remember thinking, recognising as I drifted away from fiction into the world of non fiction, reality I would probably never read such quality fiction ever again. Reccommended 'The Flowery War' by a friend I had no preconcieved notion, just looked forward to touching base with that part of my life I had ex communicated.
Flowery War took a few days to read because I had committments but I have it on kindle and just found myself wanting to read it as opportunity availed. Eleven chapters and an epilogue, it can be fast paced 'but takes you with the storyline', it's a science fiction book that has an ability to make you feel inclusive in the story, an ability to picture what is happening as the story unfolds, twists, turns, it is an adventure of the best kind science fiction and I enjoyed it immensely.
The title is from: War was called xochiyaoyotl, which means "flowery war" or "war of flowers," and death in battle was called xuchimiquiztli, "rose-colored death, happy and blissful. It is also a book I intend to re read because I think it is something on re reading I will find more things I possibly glanced over in my rush to find out what happened at the finish.
I look forward to more. One person found this helpful.
