Constantly pulled at my heart strings not to mention fired me up to hear of individual cases of what human beings went through just for being born.
As much as I got fired up, the story of Bev, a white woman living in New York, who was not directly impacted by racial injustice, understood how we are all affected by these atrocities, put herself in the heart of the probem, at times putting her life at risk to try and make a difference reminds me of the greatness of people in this country no matter what their background. I haven't finished reading the Book yet. Some of the information in this Book named BEV is about the civil rights movement and its cruelty in the segregation south which I knew about.
There is information that I'm reading, that I didn't know that took place during the movement in south. I found this book to be very insightful. The writing was amazing! I have heard several stories about Bloody Sunday, but never from the viewpoint of a Caucasian woman who was a volunteer.
It was suspenseful and kind of sad all at the same time. BEV was so brave and had a great heart. I would say this is a "Must Read" for anyone who cares about civil rights and human rights. In , she had suffered serious injuries to her skull and brain in auto accident after falling asleep at the wheel.
