And Alina, bless her heart for all the trauma she'd been through. I loved how her father finally had seen through his ways and made peace with himself. This had been an exhilarating read, the characters were awesome and had great chemistry, the story was emotional and S. This has been my sixth book by Nelson and I can see myself reading more of hers in the near future! Jan 22, Kelly Williams rated it really liked it.
Max and Alina did not disappoint. It was a great story with romance, twists and turns I was not expecting. Great storyline and characters definitely worth a read!! And I'm just nosy like that. I want to know what, when, where, why and how. And when there's a sexy lawyer involved, even better. Alina was a contradiction from the get-go. She seemed both submissive and feisty at the same time.
I couldn't figure out why she was making choices that she obviously wasn't happy with. But one thing that was crystal clear and I h "His lips were like sin, his tongue marking me for danger. But one thing that was crystal clear and I had no problems understanding was the immediate chemistry between her and Max. From their first glance at each other sparks flew.
While Alina was trying to smother them, I was fanning them, hoping for an explosion. Max is sex in a suit. When he walks into a room, the women go on alert, hoping to catch his eye. But there's only one that has his attention. Too bad he can't have her. Alina fights her feelings for Max.
That doesn't remove the obstacle that stands in their way. Max is a lawyer. He's used to getting what he wants. He's good with words and can persuade a jury to see things his way. Can he convince her? All's fair in love and war, right? So playing dirty is allowed if the result is that he wins his case. And let me tell you, his version of dirty is delicious! Nelson really caught my attention and since I'd never read anything by this author, I couldn't wait to find out more about Alina and this arranged marriage of hers. The story sort of started out slow, in fact, one night lasted through several chapters, but I could feel that the plot was building.
I immediately took a disliking to Alina's father. For someone so powerful and so high up in the law firm, he never gave his daughter enough credit The blurb as well as the cover for Blind Devotion by S. For someone so powerful and so high up in the law firm, he never gave his daughter enough credit. And for Alina to be a lawyer, I felt she truly lacked confidence. I wanted her to be strong-minded and tough, to stand up for herself, especially where Chris, her soon-to-be husband, was concerned.
I could sense a different side to Alina when she was around Max though, the mysterious gentleman she meets at the charity function hosted by her father. Max empowers her and it's obvious the two have chemistry. Max is a bit of a mystery but I like him from the very first time we meet him. He's sexy and intriguing, someone that could add to Alina's life. To me, Max totally made this story complete.
He was eye-catching and very irresistible, someone that was hard to say no to. I thoroughly enjoyed S. Nelson's writing style and she kept me glued to the pages once the story really started to take off.
I also really liked the way the story played out and it ended up being so much more than I expected. I've read a lot of Sandra's books and this is different than her MC series. Max is similar as the men in the MC books as he's just as cocky and alpha and hot as the MC men. Max is the hot, cocky, braggart you meet at the bar and end up falling for him. Alina is a do-gooder who is trying to fall in line with her dad's plan for her: Alina meets Max and all bets are off. She's insanely This book! She's insanely attracted to Max but he isn't her fiance So much happens in this story but it's not overloaded and flows perfectly.
You fall hard for Max and root for him and Alina to work their way through everything! Jan 20, Sarah Dale rated it really liked it. I have fallen in love with S Nelson's writing with her brilliant MC series and I was excited and nervous about this new book but it was brilliant. She has knocked it out of the park with this one. She has brought us a flawless story that flowed beautifully, and the characters are engaging and raw. I could not put this book down. Move over Ryder you have been replaced in my heart with Max!! Jan 22, Victoria Tortelini rated it really liked it. Nelson is at it again, bringing us delicious men to drool over! This time in a suit and tie at a prestigious law firm! Daughter to the head of this law firm, Alina, stands to take over her father's position one day but is that the kind of life she wants?
She's a brilliant young woman with a huge heart, doing mainly pro bono work. When Alina's father decides she needs to marry and even has the husband to be picked out, it's time she either take her own life in her hands or give up to do as eve S.
When Alina's father decides she needs to marry and even has the husband to be picked out, it's time she either take her own life in her hands or give up to do as everyone else says. Delicious in a suit himself, is a new hire at Alina's firm. For the first time in a long time, Alina captures his attention for longer than a second. With his own history, Max would be interested in not only the boss's daughter but also a taken woman. How much is willing to risk on this interest?
This is a sizzling tale! Took me a little bit to get into the story but as usual, Nelson creates such a story that before you know it you can't put it down. Max is hotter than Hades and knows how to please. You may want to invest in a fan or a cold shower for some of the steamier moments. Join Alina on this incredible journey between family and the heart. Jan 23, Michelle Simpson rated it liked it. This was a first S. Nelson for me and I enjoyed it but if I'm honest it didn't pack the punch I was expecting - this is only my opinion though and I do like a book with a lot more drama and grit to it.
The main story line was good and there some very hot characters. I'm sure I wont be the only one to say that I could feel the connection with Max's character but I did struggle with Alin This was a first S. I'm sure I wont be the only one to say that I could feel the connection with Max's character but I did struggle with Alina a little and found myself wanting to know more about Alina's best friend.
In this one the plot is expanded. I think it tightens the plot somehow, makes it more complicated than just usual paranormal romance. There is a serious threat to the shifters around the world. The epilogue hints that there are more to The Knights and The Agency than what the readers already know. I like the continuity. I definitely will read the next book. I want to know more about the shifter's myth including Master Shifter, also the wolf that The Knights has been experimented with view spoiler [the wolf is captured by Agent Poe in book 1, Psychic Moon , when the wolf attacked Brian and Derek hide spoiler ] View all 6 comments.
Dec 25, Christy rated it really liked it Shelves: One of the things that has really struck me about 'The Shifters' series by M. Grimm is the wide variety of plots and storylines in each successive book. There is nothing cookie cutter, although the Agency and its antithesis the Knights are a continuing theme and the author expands on each.
In this volume, I was struck by the idea of a blind cougar shifter, particularly since he was tortured by the Knights, and revenge is foremost on his mind. It's been six years since Travis made it to Haven, a One of the things that has really struck me about 'The Shifters' series by M. It's been six years since Travis made it to Haven, a refuge for shifters and humans that's practically impossible to locate in northern Montana.
He's made a quiet life for himself, writing murder mysteries under a pseudonym and enjoying his new home. His thoughts of revenge have faded as he has found his home in Haven. He's friends with Jack, the sheriff, but is afraid to take it any further as Travis hasn't told anyone about his background or how he was blinded.
Jack is determined to make Travis his mate. There's just one problem. One really big problem. Jack's wolf shifter pack is the largest in the area, and their ancestor started Haven, so in a de-facto manner, they are the dominant shifters in town. And they don't ever mate with a nonwolf. Can Jack turn his back on his family, his pack for Travis? Before they can deal with this concern, Travis sniffs out a member of the Knights in town, and he knows he has to tell Jack, warn the town, and protect his home. Oh, the information regarding the Knights and their leader is getting more fascinating.
Knowing Travis's connection to the leader, Arcas, came as a scintillating tease in the unfolding of this series. I adored Travis and Jack's mating, and would love to live in Haven. A sexy drama that kept me highly entertained and eager for more.

However, because the storytelling aspect works so much better pacing, plot — and reactions making more sense , I found it easier to ignore the problems. So far every single volume in this series has been about guys who have been more or less friends for years, with both of them Oh yes. So far every single volume in this series has been about guys who have been more or less friends for years, with both of them interested in each other but one leery of taking the risk of a relationship. While this eliminates some not all of the dreaded insta-love, it also makes me wish for a little more variation.
It would be so easy to dismiss them and scorn them for their benign racism. Instead recognizing their views as a stepping stone towards a broadening of those narrow minds makes for a significantly more poignant and satisfying solution. Things are not instantly perfect, either. I thought this aspect of the story was particularly well done.
In any event this now is emerging as a series, rather than individual stories connected by premise. Feb 09, Didi rated it liked it Shelves: More of love story in The Shifters world. But I definitely would read further books in this series! Aug 20, Jacq rated it it was ok. I'm am so going to have to chalk this up. This is corney and friggin boring. I am so done with this series! This review can be found at The Armchair Reader. I enjoy this series because it gives me the dose of paranormal I love and the uniqueness I crave. Travis and Jack have been friends for years, ever since they met. When he meets Jack, however, his rage is put on the back burner and he just tries to live his life in a new town.
I loved the interactions between Jack and Travis. They are good friends but Travis is grouchy sometimes and Jack still adores him. The connection and intensity between the two is very strong not just in human form but as shifters.
One thing I really loved about this book, though, was how Jack and Travis played together while shifted. It was so cute and I really enjoyed the scenes in their animal forms. There were a few things I had a hard time with, though. Travis is completely blind in human form but as a cougar he can see outlines of shapes BUT there were bits and pieces of when he could see clearly as a cougar when the sun set.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. The characters and world are really interesting. It ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, although, not technically but it feels like a set up for the next book. Therefore, they may be read as standalones, if desired. I have to say I really missed these six years, his adaptation into the town community happens in that time. Their relationship happened in that time and the reader, gets that information in only a few short sentences.
Travis and Jack might have encountered a lot more opposition if not for a threat to the town, by the people, that killed Travis parents - the Knights. One of their spies has come into town to gather information about shifters and the town security. The Knights have special abilities, like telepathy but they are not the only one.
The writing is clean and the reader is told what happened, but I missed experiencing it. This is also because of those six missing years. Those six missing years really makes the story fall short.

After a long sleep and a recent album One minute to twelve, it is a turn for a new chapter which is the best that this band offers. The pure sound full of iron and industrial tones. Emotional vocals and horrifying moments. Many hallucinations and chilling atmospheres. It's great how lots of styles are mixing here where you can say that the basics is in ebm but the overall impression is much more orthodox and progressive. Music inspired by the fugitive side of mankind that is accompanied with crazy monsters where their deeds have always stay written in the history of the most brutal murders and perverse appetites.
