When Steele resc Ruthless Pirate, Gracious Pirate and an Irish Heroine Set in in the Caribbean, this is the story of pirate Sam Steele, a name assumed by Cale Hunter, to escape the tragedy that befell him when his wife and son disappeared leaving behind evidence of slaughter.
It can be read as a stand alone, however. Grace is to give birth to the child of the ruthless, evil pirate who not only raped her, but also tried to kill her, yet she never worries about how she can raise a son that is his spitting image. I can see her having angst over that and then deciding to love the child anyway, but Grace never even has a thought about this.
But overall, it's a good story and pirate romance lovers will be happy. Feb 04, Jean rated it really liked it Shelves: This was a great historical romance. It's been a while since I've read anything but contemporary romance, and now I remember why I love historicals. The characters were all great.
They all had depth and I really cared about them. There was quite a bit of adventure mixed in with the romance. Towards the end of the book, when things really got intense, I couldn't put it down. There were a few things left unresolved at the end, so I'm hoping there is a sequel.
Although I know there were books that c This was a great historical romance. Although I know there were books that came before this one, I hadn't read them and I wasn't lost at all, so it stands alone quite well.
The myths are dying. Though he told her he was taking her to St. SOV - I really think you like to see me humiliated and raped daily. Jan 01, Monica Mccaskey rated it it was ok. Not a bad story, pretty well written. And I had been pleased with the story development and detail Where significant loose ends are left at a cliffhanger. A huge event takes place at the end of this story, and the author treats it as "Oh, well. It'll all work out. I feel tricked by the author. Jan 04, Tara rated it really liked it. Awful ending cliff hanger The book is okay. The first intimate scenario goes on and on and on. And the ending is not that great. Cale and Graces relationship was wrapped up in a single page and after the amount of drama and excitement it deserved more time.
Jan 01, Erin Wright rated it really liked it. I enjoyed the book. It was pretty well paced.
I should have seen the twist at the end, but somehow it still blindsided me. Even though it's titled as the first book in the series, it's really the fourth in a set of connected stories by Michelle Beattie. I haven't read the previous stories, but I don't think I lost any part of the story without having read the others.
Jan 02, Laila Kanon rated it really liked it Shelves: This is my first book I read for this writer. I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the typo errors that keep popping up like pimples on your face that enough to irritate you; the frequency affects my reading flow and pace, but otherwise, a highly entertaining book to read. Michelle Bettie, you got it talent, imagination, and creativity ; however, it pays to have a proof-reader.
May 28, Kelly rated it it was amazing. A great, well written book that captures your imagination. The characters, storyline, and emotions within are believable and relatable. Light enough to be entertaining, heavy enough to keep your attention. Mar 08, Kelly rated it really liked it. A very good book. This is a good book. It kept my interest. I will be reading the next in the series.
I can't wait to see how it all goes. Jan 16, Jan Herman rated it it was amazing. Unusual Family It's amazing where and how people find and form close family relationships. The author did a good job of showing how this family developed. An adventure to read! Mar 28, Letschat rated it really liked it.
Feb 14, Kerry Croucier rated it really liked it. All Grace ever wanted was to return to Ireland.
When Josephine takes her niece whale watching she has no idea what she's getting herself into. Their little catamaran becomes the target of a wicked 19th. Her Pirate Lover has 19 ratings and 2 reviews. Kimberly said: The fearsome pirate known as Black Hawke is out for revenge. His target? Lord Burgess Lindl.
Now all she wants is to survive being held as the sadistic Pirate Roche's captive. Luckily, an attack by Sam Steele and his crew gives her a chance, especially when Steele, himself, takes her aboard for medical attention. Cale assumed the persona of notorious pirate Sam Steele after spending years searching for his missing wife and son. His grief at their loss and feeling that he didn't protect him has shaped the kind of man he is. He is a fair man All Grace ever wanted was to return to Ireland. He is a fair man with a crew that respects him, but has never forgiven himself.
When Grace comes aboard, he vows that he will protect her so that she will face no fear on his ship. Afraid to trust a man after the abuse she lived through, Cale proves himself time and again, and her trust in him grows, as do their feelings for each other. There are hurdles to cross and there are twists, but the story is one that draws you in from the beginning. I love how strong and determined Grace is, and especially love that she is able to recognize her own short comings. Cale was another complex character who realized his need to grow and Grace's importance in that growth.
The secondary characters added depth to the story, and, I can see the seeds planted for the next story. My heart broke near the end, but I will not say for who or why, because it is a spoiler! This is not the first in the series, but it is the first I have read and there is enough background when needed for this to work well as a stand alone. Be aware that if you start with this one, you will want to go back and read the others I know I do.
If you enjoy historical romances, I recommend this one!
Feb 11, BookSnuggle rated it really liked it Shelves: This book can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous books and I didn't have any trouble getting into the book. It does make you want to go back and read the stories before to get more insight into those characters. I mostly read contemporary romance novels. This book is a historical romance with a pirate storyline. I had no problem getting into this book.
The author grabs the readers attention right away. There is a lot going on in this book. You have hot steamy romance, adventure, and surprises along the way. At times the story had me on the edge of my seat. I even hollered out a few times and my husband thought something bad had happened with our kids.
I really enjoyed Grace and Cale's characters.
