That being said, I wish more time was spent with these characters considering the later books. They are expecting the pilot of the plane Meg was traveling in when she came back to Llywelyn.
The pilot had made his home in Scotland with a wife and baby on the way, but suddenly asks to visit after turning down other offers. He forces Anna and Meg up to the roof of the castle where he wants them to jump, but in the fall he lets go and ends up at the base of the castle while Meg and Anna end up in Oregon close to Cassie's relatives. They hope that with the bombings by ELF, everyone will be too busy to pay attention here and back in Wales. The shadow organization has rebranded itself and is alive and well and hunting the four.
Cassie and Callam have a plane ready to go back to Wales and they only need to get Anna and Meg there. The Black Friday sale is priceless and Meg gets a pair of glasses. They stock up on the items David had made a list of that everyone was to carry in case they went back. Chocolate and Coffee were a no go, but they bought tons of tomato seeds and lots of potatoes to let sprout and cut up for planting. Now they have to take buses, rental cars and planes to get to the safe house Callam has with bags already packed and ready.
There is a bomber loose and buildings blowing up. MI-5 is trying to trick them into coming in and they only have minutes to meet up with the computer whiz printing out their plans and find a way back. Will Anna and Meg make it back with Cassie and Callam or will they be separated like last time? Will the shadow organization or the terrorist bombs get them? After Cilmeri always delivers. The action is fast paced, the characters are rich and like old friends.
The story is told from several POV's, but they are always identified and the story benefits from their different outlooks. I really enjoy this series, because I love history. Woodbury deviates from history, she starts at a jumping off point that is real history and makes a logical supposition based on the characters and how they would react.

It makes for a believable story, a family epic and a wonderful "what if"? One of my favorites in the entire series. David and his family have gathered to celebrate his parents anniversary and to see Marty again the pilot who'd flown Meg to the Middle Ages and abandoned her. But the reunion doesn't go as planned and Meg and her daughter Anna find themselves back in the modern world. Meeting Callum and Cassie again is only the start of the their adventure to get back home to their families in the Middle Ages.
A note from the author: I am so happy to be able to share with you this prequel to the After Cilmeri series.
I created Footsteps in Time and Prince of Time first, and only wrote Daughter of Time after so many listeners wanted to know how the story began. Meg's journey is continued in Footsteps in Time and Winds of Time , a novella that is meant to be a companion to the series. His death marked the end of Wales as an independent nation and the beginning of over seven hundred years under the English boot. Footsteps in Time is the story of what might have happened had Llywelyn lived.
And what happens to the two teenagers who save him. Meg had thought that taking a commuter flight from Pasco, Washington - to Boise, Idaho - would be a simple matter. But nothing is simple for Meg when it comes to travel, and especially not when she finds herself in the Middle Ages again instead of in a plane crash on a mountain side in Oregon. Two teenagers are catapulted back in time to alter history and save the medieval kingdom of Wales David and his man-at-arms, Ieuan, find themselves alone and on the run from a company of English soldiers who've sworn vengeance for the recent death of their king.
Meanwhile, Llywelyn lays on his deathbed, wounded by a traitor's arrow.
And once again, it is David and Anna, and all that they represent, that holds the key to the survival of Wales. Anna has made a place for herself in 13th century Wales as a wife, mother, and healer. David has taken more of the kingdom's rule on his shoulders, even as his relationship with Lili has caused friction with his father, King Llywelyn. The King wants his son to seek a political marriage that will benefit his country - and possibly place the crown of England on David's head.
Bereft of a king or rightful heir, England hurtles towards civil war for the second time in a generation.
