The proverbial shoe just waiting to drop, would slip just that little bit more. Sometimes it would be quick, and I'd find myself gasping as the shoe would dangle around my toes, just millimeters from falling. I'd curse, shaking my kindle, phone, iPad, whatever had the battery life, desperately hoping I could somehow transmit the answers from the device to my brain. But then I'd miss this perfectly played journey Amber takes you on. It has it all. All the Lolz, "Wait.
You mean something actually has you baffled? There's a puzzle that you can't solve? Saints be praised," I mocked, lifting my hands to the heavens. Never thought I'd live to see the day. All the feels, Shock did that; it sucked you dry of anything other than basic survival functions. And even those seemed to be failing me. I was already dying. A few I had some inklings of, yet still not quite on the mark.
Others, god, those others. And for me, that is rare that I don't see what's coming, how something is more than likely going to play out. Like I said, I'm reeling. It ended with a. One of the most emotionally charged and information overloaded epilogues I've ever read. I felt every word of it. Once again finding myself desperately awaiting the next installment and wanting to dive back in and start the ride all over again!
All I have to say is, well played Natusch, well played. I'd also highly recommend rereading at least fractured and tarnished before starting this one. You really need the refresher. Nothing is as it seems and everything has it's purpose. Mar 07, Romance Schmomance Malia rated it it was amazing Shelves: To be honest, when I really got into Paranormal, this was one of the series that I started with and I've been hooked every since.
And I'll warn whoever is reading this review and wondering about this series, if you haven't read the books previous to Strayed, then I suggest you leave this review and buy the first one in the series! You have a lot of catching up to do. I received an ARC and it was such an honor, and it seriously felt like Christmas because I have been along with many others eagerly awaiting this book!
Anyways, lets get to my review. I did have a forewarning from Amber about what to expect from this book and it sure did take me on a crazy ride And not just that, but prepare for the unexpected, I was nearly dumbfounded with what we learn from this book, you'll be shocked too or maybe something close to it. I re-read the entire series before I got to Strayed because I wanted to have everything fresh in mind, especially with all the character developments and the ever-loving relationship between Sean and Ruby.
And Amber does a phenomenal job really laying out all the characters for you and I secretly want to be part of their world, I would love a little family like that!
And as embarrassing as it sounds, this book made me tear more than I expected I came to fall in love even more with all of the characters, especially Cooper, he becomes quite the voice of reason in this book, believe it or not. What should you expect? Well as in true Ruby fashion, she'll have quite the load to deal with and it's rather unreal! Like holy shit, how the hell did that all happen?! I did get rather frustrated with her especially when it came to Sean, that girl definitely needed some sense knocked back into her.
It's rather disappointing because she clearly didn't remember what a certain someone said to her back in the previous books But seriously people, the amount of stuff Ruby has to get through, it's pretty damn crazy. Thankfully, A LOT of your questions will be answered, as I was re-reading the series, so many questions popped up. Even my sneaking suspicion with a couple of characters, most of them were all answered. And as much as I don't really want to admit this, but I'm starting to like Scarlet, you will learn quite a bit about her.
She's still the biggest spitfire ever, but certain events really brought another side of her out that I didn't expect to see. In Strayed, we get better sense of the direction that the story will go. A lot of my questions weren't answered until near middle-end. With most series, you just wonder what the end result will be and who the big battle will be between. Of course, I'm assuming that, gotta go out with a bang, right? Well who knows, I can be totally wrong! As you can tell from my review, it's a complete ramble.
It was so hard to write this review without revealing one bit of information. With this being the 6th book in the series, there's just so much that happens throughout the series and even more so in this one. Amber has created a phenomenal series that has kept me hooked from book 1. As impatient as I can be, I will always wait to get the next book in an awesome series. Her writing will completely draw you in and wanting more by the end of each book. We're only a few books near the end of this series and I know there will be so much more to come.
If you're a paranormal fan like me, you'll love this book and series as a whole. If you haven't read any from this series, go and get your hands on them now! You'll go through all the feels as your reading and I hope you all fall in love with this like I did.
All books in this series should be read in order, they are not standalones! Jul 04, Lorna rated it it was amazing Shelves: Caged is one of those series that always makes my top 5 list in no particular order of all series I read, and believe me that is saying a lot! For those unfamiliar with this series, its about Ruby, a formerly blind, jewelry maker. And yes, they are two distinct, completely different personalities, inside of Ruby. While Ru Caged is one of those series that always makes my top 5 list in no particular order of all series I read, and believe me that is saying a lot!
While Ruby is a good, caring person, loyal friend, with a side of snark, Scarlet is unbelievably strong in both mind and body, revengeful at times, stubborn, and mostly hardhearted. He has been my favorite of all the characters since the first book. Gavin is the enigma, and the person that causes Ruby to tear her hair out due to his riddles. Peyta, the teenage healer for the PC, and human, has a big surprise of her own this time. There are more characters, both good and bad, and I could go on and on.
Happily, they were all back for this installment. The question here is, are they all going to still be there at the end? Ruby both wants to know what happened but also, is afraid to know. And the more the visions come, the worse it gets. Neither knew the other was even around, so even more surprises. Trouble follows Ruby around like a puppy, and the life and death moments just keep coming. Or maybe that is just me.
She cares so deeply about people and she just wants to help. Through it all, the reader gets caught up in all things Ruby. Her love of Sean, Cooper, Peyta and others, her fashion commentary, even her trying to learn to play poker, makes her endearing to the reader. A lot happens in this book, and to be honest I am not telling! The readers of this series have been waiting patiently for over a year or better, and they need to NOT know what happens ahead of time. We finally get almost all of the answers to everything we have been needing to know.
So yes, this is the book of answers. I loved the whole thing, and as usual with this author, it is very well written. I will recommend this book to all adult paranormal romance or urban fantasy fans, as I have done since I read the first one. You will laugh at times, you might even cry, but I can all but guarantee you that you will have a good time reading this series. It should be noted that it is not a standalone book, and should be read in order. Mar 20, Bianca78 rated it it was amazing. I was provided this ARC by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. In my pre-reading research, I stumbled upon a report that Natusch was recommending readers re-read Fractured Caged 5 and Tarnished Caged 5.
There are too many books, too little time as it is, and to ask readers to re-read an installment? Well, that takes balls.
Not only did the novella fill in a lot of gaps and set the table nicely for Fractured, it also granted readers some quality time with first-rate alpha Sean. Not one installment has disappointed. The novel opens with Ruby reconciling herself with her sinister other half, Scarlett. Ruby also knows that her otherworldly boyfriend, Sean, is less than forthcoming. Unanswered questions, an ever-expanding pack, and a suspected high-level conspiracy have Ruby reeling. Throw in the constant ominous chirping of the elusive Gavin and you have a manic plot line that sucks the reader in for the duration.
Sometimes a book grips me. Like really grips me. Strayed is one of these books. The characters, as previously mentioned, are interesting and endearing. Ruby is the perfect combination of strength, softness, and quirk. Her internal other-self, Scarlett, does cool , philosophical psychopath so well. Sean, who struggles with his own inner duality, is equal parts fiercely protective, loving partner and stone-cold asshole. And, what para devotee can resist an asshole? In short Natusch delivers.
Rereading Fractured was unnecessary. The author does a good job reminding the reader without being redundant. Her series is the whole package. Dec 17, Becky rated it it was amazing. Here is the thing, Amber knows how to mess with your emotions as a reader. She drags you along this roller coaster of feelings and then abruptly dumps you on your ass at the very end leaving you bewildered and shaken and completely ready for another ride because you have an unhealthily addiction to the way Amber makes you feel. This latest book Strayed is no exception to Amber's rule of three, make you giggle from her multiple one liners , make you screaming mad will Ruby ever make it through a Here is the thing, Amber knows how to mess with your emotions as a reader.
This latest book Strayed is no exception to Amber's rule of three, make you giggle from her multiple one liners , make you screaming mad will Ruby ever make it through a book without pissing us off at some point? Fear for all the crap happening to and around Ruby as well has Fear that Amber will do the unthinkable and blast your favorite book couple to bits. I should also state I do not know for a fact that this is Amber's writing formula so please don't run off and tell her after reading this review that you know she does this intentionally.
It's just what I have observed as a fan. This book was however different in a huge way. We got all the answers. Who the f is Gavin?
Who attacked Ruby and her parents? What did Scarlet do during the three weeks she locked Ruby out? And trust me when I say you will not see this coming at all, ever! There are even more answers in the book but honestly I'm still spinning so I know I'm missing stuff. So with that said I will leave you with this, you hands down absolutely need to reread tarnished at the very least before you read Strayed and if possibly the whole series otherwise it might be like jumping into the ocean without a floatie and not knowing how to swim any better than doggie paddling.
Good luck to you fellow reader because Amber is about to give you emotional whiplash. Dec 19, Kelly rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Amber Lynn Natusch is a great story teller. Her characters are rich in personality. Every character has a unique voice and contributes in a way to the story that enhances it.
They are not filler. ALN writing makes you laugh, and cry, even at the same time! The stories flow flawlessly. All books must be read in order to understand Strayed. You must read Tarnished, a novella, book 5. Strayed picks off shortly after Fractured ends. Ruby is remodeling her studio for the London Trio.
With Cooper as her Alpha, the 5 of them are getting closer than ever. There is so much going on! The story moves very quickly and is action packed. I laughed out loud numerous times.

Sean's voice was clearly very different from ruby's and all of the information was insightful as to the whys and hows to the Sean we know and love. I only hope ruby at some point in the future books is given this insight as well. I know some most novellas are skippable this is not however the average novella and should not be skipped by anyone there are only 3 novellas ive ever read and felt were A worth the money spent buying them and B worth the read.
I know some most novellas are skippable this is not however the average novella and should not be skipped by anyone reading the caged series Jun 21, Jilly rated it really liked it Shelves: A wonderful glimpse into Sean's past. We get to see the twists and turns of his emotional state before he met Ruby. We get to see who Sean really is inside which I loved reading about. My only real issues was that we didn't find out enough about his time with Ruby. I really wish we'd had a little glimpse into his thought processes during certain situations Ruby's encountered but either way I liked the book a lot.
Oct 04, Kelly rated it it was amazing Shelves: I sometimes don't read the novella to series because of the cost or I'm not really into the story to purchase it. This is one of the rare occasions I did purchase it and I'm glad I did. Sean to be seems to be a mystery in the books. Now I totally get him.
Certain scenes from the book make sense now. I even went back and re-read them. It was like a light bulb moment, "Oh, that make more sense now! Worth the money to complete the story. Mar 04, Charisse rated it it was amazing Shelves: Now that I have gotten over my initial reaction. I didn't think it was possible to love Sean more but I was wrong!!! This book gives a look into Sean's past from his POV. It gives you a better understanding of the why he is the way he is. I Love Amber's writing style and can't wait for the next book in the Caged Series!!!
Dec 09, SB Morales rated it really liked it. I got an amazing background on Sean. I found out why and how is has evolved in his life to what we see in the present story. It was so interesting and exciting. It was a lot on enlightening information in a novella!
I laughed out loud numerous times. There are even more answers in the book but honestly I'm still spinning so I know I'm missing stuff. I cannot wait to see what secrets the next book holds!! Alexa Actionable Analytics for the Web. You will weather the storm and go on the roller coaster even though you are afraid of heights.
Can't wait to read the new book now that I have all this background knowledge. Jul 29, Kathy rated it liked it. It was interesting to get the whole back story on Sean and his fascination with Ruby. I'm glad it wasn't just a retelling of the first book from his point of view like a lot of series have done. Although parts of the book were a little boring and if it was longer than a novella I don't think I would have made it through it. Jun 29, Crissy VA rated it it was amazing.
Wow Amber Natusch has done it again!!! I was skeptical about a book just about Sean but it was so interesting and helped us learn so much about why he is the way he is. I loved learning about his past, his dad, the true reason he and Sophie were together, and all the other mythological gods. Thank you for another piece of the puzzle to this great series. Can't wait to read what happens next!
Dec 08, Deborah king rated it it was amazing. Best series yet This series of books have by far kept me wanting more and more just had to have next book. Best written she makes you think you know but you really don't. Jun 29, Elizabeth Ortegon-Trevino rated it it was amazing. Aniketos Although it is a short story it's a good one. Learning more about Sean is always good. Even if he is a cold-hearted warrior he does have some good in him or in his words light. And he'll do anything or anyone to keep it. Great read just one problem Aug 16, Toni Summers rated it it was amazing. We don't know much about him and this novella shed a little light on him. I very much want to know how the Chameleon plays into his story. Counting the days until the next book.
