Herr Faustini Takes a Trip Dec 19, Versuche Zeitgenossen German Edition Mar 16, Paris Berlin New York: Verwandlungen Zeitgenossen German Edition Mar 16, Die Augenblicke des Herrn Faustini: Roman German Edition Dec 22, Kerberos Rremixes limited transparent red vinyl 12". In recent times, demand has soared for second-hand copies of Stefan Bodzin and Marc Romboy's cut "Kerberos". Wisely, Systematic has decided to reissue it, backing the original version - a quietly positive chunk of melodious tech-house bristling with memorable, rising and falling electronic motifs - with a trio of fresh reworks.
The first of these comes from Solomun and Johannes Brecht, whose interpretation tends towards the grandiose, elevating the original to a higher level via bolder electronics and stronger Berlinian beats. In contrast, Andre Hommen harnesses the track's innate positivity, inserting a blissful, saucer-eyed breakdown that should get the hairs on the back of your neck standing to attention.
Finally, Matador delivers a smooth, shuffling and bass-heavy revision that's closest in tone to Bodzin and Romboy's original. Vol 1 gram vinyl 12". Super Tuff makes an impressive debut straight out of Brooklyn with M. Vaughan at the helm, and it looks like high grade deep house is on the menu judging by the quality spread across this first 12".
Jesse Bru is up first with the steady cruising "Futaki", featuring a great speech by Tom Waits about crooked trees. DJ Aakmael gets into a bouncier concoction on "Offering", and then it's down to label boss Vaughan to push an agenda of tough NYC flavoured grooves splashed with dusty soul and jazz tones in an utterly infectious style. Moony Me then finishes off the EP with an acid track that features swooning strings and some deft drum play. The Most Pure Expression 12".
Community Of House 12". Various Artists Vol 1 gram vinyl 12". Vinyl Only reach their seventh release with a fresh grip of lesser known producers bringing high grade grooves to the table. Bubbadog opens the 12" up in a woozy fashion with the warbling piano chords of "Goin' Round", capturing a time-slip mood that carries through to the dusty jazz soaked beat down of Minus The Majors' "Strole On Through". On the B-side, Alex Zuiev gets into an exotic, chiming, 80s-inflected mood on "Down By The River", creating a slow-burning dancefloor heater out of classic ingredients.
CB Sessions 5 12". Some five months after the second "Tale of Tales" EP arrived in stores, LaGaffe Tales treats us to a third volume in the popular series. Like its predecessors, the EP boasts cuts from a quartet of rising stars. Carlo kicks things off with the fluttering Balearic breakbeat breeze of the blue-eyed soul-sampling "Bonfim", before Jonbjorn takes us even deeper via the bubbling beats, sunset chords and glassy-eyed electronics of "Opall".
Peaceful Thoughts hand-stamped 12". Juno Recommends Funky House. Tribaloide Part 12 6 track CD single. Scenarii Vol 1 12".
Their first various artists EP gathers the core members that contributed to the imprint's discography so far. On the A side we have got Charonne with the old school bump and shuffle of "Saule Moqueur" followed by Murphie Cooper delivering some reductionist mini-funk on the infectious "Speak Twins". On the flip is none other than hometown hero Seuil of Eklo Records, who delivers some absolutely neon-lit electro-funk on " Tool". For Slovenian label HouseOnWax's third release, they've rounded up some top names.
On the flip, Japan's Yusuke Yamamoto gets deep and dusty on "Construction Site" and Frenchman Maxime Garnier aka Mjog has the minimal side of things covered on the entrancing afterhours groove of "Camelia" channeling those sublime Romanian style vibes. The label says it is inspired by early white label house music releases. Vinyl only, limited copies, no digital promotion. The label has previously served up releases by Italians Re.
Alter View Of Basics 12". Lay Down The Groove Germany. The Fulfiller hand-printed 10" in hand-printed sleeve. Summer Camp Vol 1 12". Cada Vez CD single. Snuff Cuts Vol 1 12". Sexo 7 track CD single. Commedia Dell'harte double 12". According to La Chinerie themselves.
Their rather excellent track brings a more techy edge to the EP. Anaxander gets busy with "Stabs Of Love", a truly ear nagging piece that cuts through the glut of soundalike productions to say something truly special. In recent times, demand has soared for second-hand copies of Stefan Bodzin and Marc Romboy's cut "Kerberos". Both tracks are, of course, impeccable. The former ups the temperature and gets us in a lather with the insistent pace of "Ill" while the latter sooths our souls and oils our joints with the slippery hypnosis session "Easy Beauty".
Elsewhere, there's Restoration's Lucretio via Berlin of course delivering some muscular, hardware oriented grooves on "I Piu Piccoli" while the north of The Beautiful Country represents too, rest assured, in the from of Bologna's Bassa Clan with the bouncy and swinging NYC circa '94 vibe of "Notte Brava". Detroit native Chuck Daniels is the man behind this all-star EP from the long running but less-than-prolific Sampled Recordings imprint.
Over on the flipside, high profile Detroiter steps up with the brilliant, sunshine-friendly business of "Woman Cry" - all snappy drums, rich soulful vocal samples and breezy piano solos - while Tracey Cooper wraps thought-provoking spoken word samples around an analogue-rich deep house groove with predictably strong results. Sound Of House Vol 6 12". This is how you do timeless You get two OG artists to open up both sides of your 12".
On the A we have William Rosario's legendary DAT Project with a light-footed jam that jacks up neatly with classic the classic rolling snares that only a man who cut his teeth in the early 90s. Similarly on the B we have Transitive Elements who also came through a series of warehouse shakers in the early 90s. With warm keys and a sweet drum shuffle, it's as authentic as it can possibly be.
Monsieur Cedric Serie Limitee. Makers Part 2 12". Murdoc , Toki Fuko. Nouchkanae 12" in die-cut sleeve. Plastik People Collections Volume Five gram vinyl 12". Hailing from New Mexico and on a mission to uphold the principles of soulful house music, Plastik People offer up another fine selection of operators who understand the legacy laid down by the pioneers of true deepness.
DJ Aakmael has been doing his thing on labels like Uzuri and his own UnXpozd Entertainment for a long time, and he's on perfect form on "Deeprespectrak" with a little assistance on the mic as well. Lars Behrenroth meanwhile brings a drum heavy pressure to the otherwise smooth "Infection", and Mark Nicholas O lays down a sharp and nagging garage beat laden with jazzy licks. Slammin Trax Vol 2 gram vinyl 12". Super Tuff gram vinyl 12". Super Tuff is a relatively new concern hailing from Brooklyn, committed to presenting a broad range of talent from the more curious corners of the house spectrum.
On this third release we're introduced to the delightful sound of DJ Heure, who unfurls wonderful pattering percussion, jazzy notes and a mellow, ambient finish to pull at the heartstrings. There's a slightly more forthright thump to Hot Coffee's "On The Verge", but it's still a dusky twist on the typical deep house formula. Vaughan brings things a little more upfront on "Man 2 Man", and top-drawer German producer Tilman weaves a rich and invigorating tale with his swooning "A Day To Remember".
The resultant jams are sweet, sticky and undeniably Moorish. Check, for example, the shuffling Afro-house beats, sumptuous electric piano solos, leisurely jazz guitars and spoken word vocals of "Choices", the piano and synth-bass driven breeziness of "Outside" and the classic deep house warmth of closing cut "Press It". Ben Sims , Jamie Behan. Crate Diggin' Vol 2 Sampler clear blue vinyl 12". Taymor Zadeh , Black Jack.
Moldova-based Resonanz are back with their third edition of minimal oddball house grooves. Considering its close proximity to Romania; we're definitely interested in hearing what this bunch is up to. Starting out with the hypnotic low-slung tribalism of Andrey Djackonda's "Calida Noche", we then get treated to Dimitri Monev's "Makaulu" a druggy broken beat experiment in maximalism reminiscent of Barac or Suciu; it's pretty wicked!
On the flip the loopy and dusty deepness of Leparente's "Leflor" will definitely get good vibes happening at the after-hours while Maarka's "Reveranz" is exactly the kind of tunnelling trance inducing groove that we like, kind of like when Cristi Cons or Vid are on point, if you get what we mean? Remixes Part 1 gram vinyl 12". The Jus Groove It label is, of course, all about deep house music, and who better to help them in their quest than Djebali?
Shintaro D gets reworked by Mr KS on the flip, and things get a little freakier with some errant synth wobbles and a minimal groove making for a distinctive, ear-snagging end result. It's definitely a record of two halves, and fortunately both halves are excellent.
This inaugural release from Real Gang Records' X series is notable for including the first ever solo material from Miffy and Miller, a duo best known for their collaborative releases on Draft Label, In Haus Wax and, most recently, Jack's House Records. You'll find their contributions on the flipside, with Miffy's loose, deep and swinging "Excuse Me" tickling our fancy a little more than the locked-in drug-chug of Miller's "OT".
With its restless electronic loops, hushed vocal samples and clandestine aural textures, it's emphatically intoxicating. Tomi Chair , G-Prod. Evans Above Tony Lionni remix gram vinyl 12". Ward is best known as Moodymanc, a long-standing figure in the UK house scene, and he's on especially strong form with "Evans Above," where gorgeous strings and meandering live bass cascade around a journeying beat in mesmerising fashion. For those wanting the same musical delights but in a more club ready format, the subtly fired-up "Club Dub" on the flip should be just the ticket.
Meanwhile JCub's "Mestizo Beats" reappears after an outing on the last Nicetraxuk release, this time remixed by deeper-than-deep stalwart Tony Lionni with scintillating results.
Well Cut Records return with another deluxe vinyl release with Dubble D presenting under his irrepressable "Moodymanc" monniker. Side A opens with "Comfort Me", a deep and gritty sounding soulful jam, followed by a 're-touch' of "War and Peace", a deep and dirty disco dance floor monster which has done serious damage in the past. Luke Solomun opens side B with his "Love and Death re-make", toughening up the drums and adding some analogue twists to take the energy levels up to the point of frenzy!
The record closes with "Hashtag", a no nonsense, tough Chicago inspired groove which plays backdrop to a conversation between Snoop Dog and G Unit about the music game today which we thought said a lot about the state of play in House music today! A "beatapella" is an addition to the digital version of the release for those DJs who want to get more creative with the message!
