Almost immediately, the reader can spot where Mary is going wrong, and empathize with her struggles through drug-addiction, and a relationship with a man who was as sick as she was inside. The material does not come across as polarizing, or even insulting toward the many people Mary crosses paths with. Instead, the reader is left feeling both sad, and yet oddly hopeful that at least one life was turned around and saved from untimely destruction.
Weiland does not blame shift, does not diminish her responsibility for catastrophic events which shaped her, and led her to an eventual commitment to full recovery and sobriety. This book is not only worth reading, it is worth reading several times. The order is chronological after a prologue, and smoothly recounted with much humor, and much care.
Previous amazon reviews are correct. Obviously, this will be more from her perspective, and it goes into some of her modeling and make-up life, but it's an engaging read written in a diary-style format. I would have liked if she spent more time on that, too.

I usually listen to audible books because I read so much at work that drive-time is personal time. As a mother, I wanted to hug her. As a woman, reading her book was like breaking bread with a friend of whom I would want to help. It's not often one can learn so much important information while giggling with the teacher. I don't know anything about the band but the book tells really great and shocking stories. Crazy how some other people live their lives. This book was not as interesting as I had hoped it would be. I am a big fan of Scott Weiland so I had high hopes.
It really just seemed to skim the surface of things and did not offer a lot of depth into his life, his marriage or his wife for that matter. I kind of got the feeling that she wrote enough to make some money but not enough to really give fans any insight.
