Districts may choose to use the Illinois 5Essentials Report as part of their administrator evaluation process. Legislation requires that schools implement a climate survey. ISBE is making a long-term commitment to implement the 5Essentials Survey in every school across the state in order to provide schools with the information they need to position themselves for improvement.
Administering the climate survey is a priority for ISBE, as such we will continue to include the survey in our annual budget book request and cover the cost for yearly administration. Additional information, including survey questions, a calendar of upcoming webinars, news, etc. We have been working hard for the past few months to redesign the web site, and we will be making additions over the course of the next several weeks and months. The site will continue to evolve and keep you up to date on important school activities and information.
While the site won't be a daily newspaper by any means, it is certainly our goal to keep the content fresh and exciting in an effort to entice you to return often.

A farmer, artistic craftsman, and master carpenter, Earl was a resourceful innovator in the Momence community. It was used by the boys' basketball team the Conrad's sponsored. Hardship struck when Henry Conrad was kidnapped on November 26, , nabbed in his very own bakery. The gangsters sped off toward Lowell, Ind. Lucky for Conrad, the bandits were driving with their emergency brake on and the car caught fire. They abandoned the smoking Packard and hijacked a Chevy driven by Carl Schultz, whom they kicked out of his own car. When the Packard stopped smoking, Conrad drove it to a nearby farmhouse for help. The two gunmen were never seen again.
The business suffered another setback on November 10, , when Henry and Hazel, both 38, were killed in a car accident while driving home from Chicago. Late in the night, their car ran out of gas two miles north of Momence and when Conrad flagged down an oncoming car for help, the driver accidently hit the two. Hazel was instantly killed. Henry died on the way to the hospital.
A short time later, the business went bankrupt. In , the business and its equipment were purchased by retired Chicago baker Edward Litoborski. Litoborski partnered with his son and four daughters, who successfully operated the bakery until it closed in
