That's the question the whole movie asks us.
The thing that confused me is that as the movie title describes them as freaks so my question is how are they freaks? Is a one eyed guy a freak or a fat girl a freak can't they fall in love? I personally did not find them as freaks they were just normal human beings. Story vise the romance part was depicted really well and the actors did their part well.
