What I love about this short story is that it is a complete cosmos of its own. I feel the fullness of this universe.

This is the stuff of myths: Gods, Goddesses, Their Offspring, and lamented Tragedy. Immortal twins Kismet and Taso are used to sparring, but when they find a sword their father has left behind, Kismet makes a blow to his brother that pierces not just flesh but Taso's very immortality. Their mother turns Taso into a stone, his spouting blood a spring, to prevent his complete death. Kismet leaves to live a life poisoned by the loss of his brother. When eventually he finally learns to love again, it is to remember the pain of loss again.

Leads logically into the next book TAGS: This is a pretty cool little short story. It concerns two brothers, sons of gods, who are horsing around one day when something terrible happens.

One of the brothers winds up going down to Earth, and ruling his country with an iron fist. It's pretty well written, and a wonderful introduction to the author's fantasy world. If I had any issues with it, it would be that the formatting of the ebook that I read on Scribd leaves a little to be desired.

Firstly, there's lots of front-matter to get throug This is a pretty cool little short story. Firstly, there's lots of front-matter to get through, mostly praise for the author and the story, before I even get to read the thing. Secondly, there isn't really a proper table of contents, which I find frustrating when I have to decide when to stop reading for a session. All in all, I enjoyed it. It's described as romance, which I don't normally enjoy. The thing is, while there are some romantic elements in it, I personally wouldn't put it in that genre. I'm off to go find the next one!

It follows the young god Kismet as he challenges his competitive twin brother, and the disastrous results thereof, then takes the reader on a fanciful journey where we get to see how some of the culture developed in the land of Kad while also seeing the very human frailties of an immortal being. Another worthy installment from an author who's become an auto-buy for this reader! Aug 27, namericanwordcat rated it liked it Shelves: In this prequel to the fantasy series, we have excellent mythos building. This very much has the tone and feeling of an origin story from any culture. The world building is well done. There is a nice weave of romance here but it is mor in the line of romantic element than a romance. The story would have been more captivating if we had gotten the romance. Never the less, I am intrigued with this world and will read on.

I wish there had been more details, it was like the entire middle of the story was missing. A charming story well developed and with engaging characters. A world to revisit. Not really a short story, more like a recap of events. Still, it's interesting to read if you're invested in this world via the other books.
