Jess is new to LA, working as much as she can before law school starts and getting as far from her ex as she can.
She is such a strong character, dealing with the hurt from those that were so close to her. I have really liked Pete in the previous books and have been waiting on his story, which does not disappoint! After the betrayal he felt he has not wanted to connect with anyone.
There is a connection between the two as soon as they meet and their journey is full of ups and downs, emotions, heat and fun with the other guys from the band! This is a must read!! I cannot wait to dig in to future stories with the new guys! Rock Me In Paradise Perfect!! Getting to enjoy the day up to Tom and Willow's wedding from Tom's view point was absolutely amazing! The nerves, the true and honest love I just loved it! I am glad we were able to be a part of their wonderful day! Every part of you is beautiful. Tom had a rough childhood and does not let anyone inside his heart until Willow barges into his hotel room. Their story is truly beautiful and keeps you captivated from the first word till the last. In a way nothing ever has. From the first page to the last I was pulling for them. For Pete to find that one person who he can be himself and not just another rock star is awesome. Little did he know that Jess loved him for who he is and not what he does for a living.
My favorite part of the book is when Pete shows up at Jess's dads house to fight for her. Rock Me in Paradise Willow and Tom are my favorite couple. I love reading Tom's view of his and Willow's wedding. May 04, Renaye hopkins rated it it was amazing. Love The Sinful Serenade collection! Rock Me All Night - This book was hot! I loved the way in which Willow and Tom and were able to become friends.
This allowed them to build the beautiful relationship that blossomed between them. The sex was hot, monogamous, and adventurous.
The relationship was one of friendship, trust, support and respect. They helped each other fight some demons from their past. I worried the entire time that Bradley was going to make an unwelcome appearance.
And, I loved Ophelia. She is one tough mom and hilarious! And boy does he fall hard and fast for Jess, although, like his fellow band members, he also tries to fight it. Jess of course is fighting her own demons while figuring out how to pay for law school. Pete and Jess combust when they are together; and, like the others in this series, the sex scenes are so hot they will melt your e-reader!
Crystal Kaswell is the ninja of Rockstar romance! I love reading Tom's view of his and Willow's wedding. Rock Me in Paradise is a quick, easy, hot read. We get to see Tom in a way we never have; and witness he and Willow's nuptials in Hawaii. This is an addictive collection that is definitely a must read! Aug 16, Chelsea rated it liked it. Did I read all four books and finish them?
Did I roll my eyes many times reading through them? Certainly not food for thought kind of books but I was entertained. The sexy bits were sexy although occasionally borderline hilarious , the smuty bits were smuty and the plots were generic but readable. Maybe read separately and not right after the other would've earned a better review but as it stands, the general relationship guidelines were exactly the same.
Enter a "pseudo" relationship with respective girl - and having major difficulty with that "L" word even after both parties agree to the "pseudo" part that attraction tho -stronger than the force. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite genres. These couples have trying times but they make it through everything because of love and loyalty. Pete was the shy guy who finally got his happy ending after heartbreak.

Keep up the great work. May 07, Vivien Parry rated it it was amazing. You see her at her worst and you see her at her best. You will want to wrap here up in a warm blanket and just hug her.
You don't realize the strength she has. Colin well what can we say about this young man. He is sweet beyond words and sees something special in Rose that she can't see. He is patient and so kind , and kind of sexy in the all American boyfriend way. He knows that Rose is his soulmate but he has to get through to the sweet girl he sees. Olivia is Roses best friend and the only person that knows what actually happened to Rose.
She is a sweet girl but is also getting frustrated with Rose and her self destructive behaviour. There are so many good and evil characters that surround Rose and Colin. You will love them and want to hurt the evil people that hurt Rose. This is a very emotional read, I actually had to put the book down and read something funny for a bit. The author takes us on an emotional journey with twists and turns. I had a really ugly cry while reading this book. Trust me have a box of tissue with you while you read this one.
My emotions run amuck during this read. One min I wanted to shake Rose and say open your eyes girl, then I wanted to wrap her up in my arms and hug her. Then you want to do some damage on all the people that hurt her. This is a inspirational story of the power of healing and the power of love. The therapeutic aspects of this book are done with great care and realistic.
The author did a great deal of research to get it accurate. I recommend this book to anyone should read if you want an ugly cry. Put this one on your summer reading list. But be prepared to cry and hug your children tight , Jul 06, Cynthia rated it it was amazing. What an emotional journey that really broke my heart, all that this woman has been through from the abuse to the healing is so much more than my mind can wrap around. The author gives you a compelling read of young hearts with a woman that has seen it all.
It takes a lot to heal a broken soul that so many have put down. That is until the day Colin came barreling and just about knocked her down the stairs. I fell in love with this man from the start with his sweet and kind ways. As the author tak What an emotional journey that really broke my heart, all that this woman has been through from the abuse to the healing is so much more than my mind can wrap around. As the author takes us on a journey of new love blossoming she throws in a few twists that keeps the story interesting and the reader invested.
Will love win or will Roses past take away the one thing that could change her life forever? Rose is a very complex person the author gives you a hint of what she has gone through as you get more into the story you learn more. I doubt you can read this and not be touched deeply in some way.
As I came to know her I really just wanted to hold her, hug her and give her the love and support she needs. She has unbelievable strength if she only believed in herself. Colin is so patient with her, he sees so much more in her than she does herself. There are a mixture of characters good and bad, some you will love other you wish you could do some damage to.
Colin Craig had never believed in "flying saucers" and had discounted tales of " alien abductions" as hallucinations. In one horrifying moment, he becomes the. It is well written and well-balanced that pulls you in and takes you into the dark world that Roses has lived in. It has been a long time since I have read something this emotional, you feel each up and down the characters go through. My emotions were all over the place. I enjoyed the twists and turns as well as the romance.
It is a very compelling read of pain, sorrow, and then turns into learning, healing and love. The author took a lot of time thinking this plot over giving in-depth details with a very believable story. I was hooked from the first page. Mar 11, Kat rated it liked it. BUT I liked the way the author was telling the story so I did a bit of research myself then carried on. The plot is based in College, Frat Parties and life on campus, which I think from watching a few hundred films and TV shows felt accurate.
I feel that the author put the Rose in too many similar situations that resulted in the same ending. Rose I know had a hell of a lot of issues, and as the story unfolds I got more into how her psyche was evolving with the aftermath of her situation and I hoped that she would finally find her way forward. I would have preferred that the story had featured more about the past subjection she lived with constantly in the 'God Fearing Community' where her abusive step-father and pastor held court over the poor lives of the women.
Collin - well he seemed too good to be true, but heck I suppose there must be some nice guys left in the world I have to hope for my granddaughter's sake! He was patient beyond measure, and I had some serious 'sigh' moments when he was doing his volunteer work. When he loses it, in the end, I felt that was more real, more how a boy his age would react. The story ends with a slight Cliffhanger for book 2 to carry on, but overall the story wraps up well enough to not leave you hanging.
I did not feel emotionally attached to Rose as I could have, I did not 'feel her pain' like I did those other characters. Also the cover is too bright for this book, the subject is a dark and emotional, the covers more like a, mills and boons cover, not a book that deals with the emotional baggage a rape victim has to live with.
Mar 22, Caitlyn Lynch rated it really liked it Shelves: Emotionally a tough read This isn't an easy book to read, and I'm not talking about the quality of the writing. Told in alternating first person between Rose, a young woman trying desperately to regain control of her life and emotions after escaping a brutal past in a church cult, and Colin, the music therapy student who falls in love with her, it's a romance but in no way is it a 'light and fluffy' one.
The author warns in the synopsis that graphic descriptions of abuse are contained in the book Emotionally a tough read This isn't an easy book to read, and I'm not talking about the quality of the writing. The author warns in the synopsis that graphic descriptions of abuse are contained in the book that may distress some readers, and readers with triggers for sexual or physical abuse should probably avoid. Rose is very believable as she seesaws between wanting to be normal and knowing for certain that the secrets of her past mean she never will be.
I found Colin a little bit too good to be true, though being a psychotherapy student himself and the son of a survivor who became a therapist, he was undoubtedly the best possible person to help Rose learn to love herself and rise above her past trauma. I actually think I would have enjoyed the book more if it had been told solely from Rose's point of view. Colin's sections just re-told what we already knew had happened from his point of view, and it was obvious from early on that he was such a goody two-shoes that a nasty thought would never so much as cross his mind.
Rose's parts were much more compelling to me. This is an inspirational tale of one young woman finding a way to rise above her past with the love and support of quite a number of people, not just Colin. There was no tropey Magical Healing going on, and the therapeutic aspects of Rose's treatment were realistically handled and very believable. I think the book could have used a professional edit and I feel like Colin's PoV could have been done without, maybe replaced with some flashbacks from Rose to her past, but I did very much enjoy it.
I received a copy of this book for review through ReadingAlley. Aug 13, Chloe Romancing the Books rated it really liked it. Enjoyable and satisfying Butterfly Serenade is a raw, emotion-filled account of a woman trying to recover from her tragic past. The story showed how Rose the heroine has lots of support system in her friend and potential boyfriend and support group in school, but even with all these, if Rose herself didn't want to overcome her past by letting them help her, there's nothing anyone can do.
I think this illustrates an important thing in real life. I like the role reversal here, with Colin falling f Enjoyable and satisfying Butterfly Serenade is a raw, emotion-filled account of a woman trying to recover from her tragic past. I like the role reversal here, with Colin falling for Rose almost from the start, whereas Rose was resistant due to her past. Colin is a great hero--sweet and patient and respectful to women. In fact, he's too good for Rose, in my opinion. I wished she were stronger. Sure, she suffered a terrible tragedy, and I feel for her, but instead of clinging to the lifeline that her friends offered and try to rise above her nightmares, she was determined to cope only from day to day, never believing that she could one day conquer it.
Liv is a great friend and supporting character. The world needs more people like her and her mom. Overall, an enjoyable and satisfying read! Reviewed at Reading Alley While it dealt with some pretty dark things with Roses's past, Julianna Douglas ultimately created a really sweet, genuine romance that made me SQUEE with delight so many times. Colin is the perfect man, basically a Disney prince come to life, but the good thing is 1 that Rose realizes this, and 2 that she absolutely deserves a man like Colin, after all she's been through.
I felt so happy to see her and Colin get together at the end.
Yes, the book is a simplistic romance novel, but it knows what it is and succeeds at what it does. Nothing against BDSM, but that book is a bad portrayal of it. This, though, is sweet, honest, and loving. Overall, though, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I may even check out the sequel when it comes out! Jun 30, Vickie Chaisson rated it it was amazing.
Butterfly Serenade by Julianna Douglas is a veryy tough read due to the subject but such a sweet story you will not be able to put it down. This story of abuse and a sweet love is strongly but tactfully handled by Douglas. Colin is the best book boyfriend ever and such a sweet soul, lightness to fill Rose's dark spaces. This book could not have been more aptly named as I saw the simile as the dark chrysalis changes into a beautiful butterfly so Rose changes into the woman she was always meant to Butterfly Serenade by Julianna Douglas is a veryy tough read due to the subject but such a sweet story you will not be able to put it down.
This book could not have been more aptly named as I saw the simile as the dark chrysalis changes into a beautiful butterfly so Rose changes into the woman she was always meant to be. Don't get me wrong there is much darkness and hatred and soul searching before Colin convinces Rose she is worth being loved by him. As she slowly becomes part of his life and family she learns to stick up for herself. This story shows the true strength of the human spirit and how out of darkness a truly beautiful person can grow.
Jul 07, Jill rated it it was amazing. This may be a tough read for some people. Rose has had a tough life. She see's herself in an awful life but she is much more than she gives herself credit for. Colin is there to help her realize who she really is and who she can become. This was a tear jerker for me but I loved Colin, he was so sweet, patient, and kind.
