When secrets come to light he realizes they are more alike than he thought. I waffled with my rating on this book. At times it was frustrating to make sense of Ronnie and Kris. They were the same yet so different and so combative with each other. I wanted to hate a lot of members of the Cartwright family but Toby.
He was kind of stalkerish, but I got it. All in all it was a steamy interesting read with lots of drama and action. Jul 10, Lisa May rated it it was amazing. The chemistry between Kristian and Ronnie was electric! I could feel the sparks jumping out of my kindle. I will stop there as to not give anything away. Great read, as usual Lilliana Anderson succeeds with her characters and vivid details.
The relationships between the brothers are stronger than ever and it makes you want to jump and cheer for every succ Another show stopper!!! The relationships between the brothers are stronger than ever and it makes you want to jump and cheer for every success this group of thieves has!
Very excited that the remaining brothers have stories coming up - wish they were already written! There has to be a story there! Jul 16, Tamara rated it it was amazing Shelves: After reading each of the Cartwright Brothers books I declare that to be my favourite, and since finishing Foolish Games it appears this book will be no different. After reading the first chapter that became very clear.
I knew that I would probably fall in love with the bag guy hello previous bo After reading each of the Cartwright Brothers books I declare that to be my favourite, and since finishing Foolish Games it appears this book will be no different. I thought Nate and Sam were hot, but Kristian certainly surpassed them both. The moody, sexy, surfing, quick tempered man instantly stole my heart, even more than he did in Sam's story. Throw in Ronnie, hot, sexy, feisty, sassy and an extremely independent woman, and Lilliana has produced one HOT match.
Getting off on the wrong foot to start with, may I mention stolen keys, stolen car and now a car dramatically defaced, Kristian and Ronnie have a lot of hurdles to overcome. In pure Lilliana style, she doesn't make it easy for either of them, nor does she have them holding back on their desire for one another. Ronnie has to overcome the pain of the past, where she never felt welcome and where she always felt used and abused.
Her life of petty crime has left her with no life at all and her decision to steal Kristian's car only made it that much harder. Defacing that same very car is about to turn her life upside down and inside out. To repay "her debt" she must now work for Kristian, until he determines that her debt is paid.
What ensues from here is simply as wonderful story of two people struggling with the rules life throws at them, or more to the point, Cartwright Family Rules. As the story progresses Ronnie's secrets become known and a more softer side of her emerges, but don't get m,e wrong, this woman can certainly still hold her own - and she very often does, she is no walkover. I absolutely loved this story from the first to the very last word.
The dynamics of the Cartwright family really comes into play - especially the relationship Kristian has with his twin Abbot. I even have to admit that Jasmine started to grow on me never saw that one coming. It was definitely the chemistry between Ronnie and Kristian that I loved. Even when they were fighting you could see the sparks between them igniting. I adored Kristian's protectiveness coming out and especially that green eyed monster called jealousy.
Once again another unputdownable story from Lilliana. She allows you to really connect with her characters and to feel the emotions that they are feeling, whether is be anger, frustration, happiness and of course the occasional batch of tears. All her characters were believable and I really hope that we get to see more of Breaker - I just loved that man!!! I can't wait to sink my teeth into the next one in the series Fool's Errand - I'm looking forward to see what's in store for Abbot. As with the previous two books this can be read as a standalone, but to receive the full benefit of the story and its characters, it's best to read them in order.
Definitely a recommended read. Jul 30, Terri Lynn rated it it was amazing. Released- Jul 19, 35 Chapters. Ronnie Veronica - heroine years old. My family looks at me like I am crazy. The A-Wholes stole my heart. I have read this series from the beginning and enjoyed each book. The 1st book is my favorite. The 2nd book I disliked the heroine. This boo Released- Jul 19, 35 Chapters. This book I loved the heroine, She was tough and likable. I still don't like the Cartwright's mother. And I wish it were from both perspectives It would be nice to get into both heads. I also wish each book would have their own ending HEA's.
I hate reading characters happy ending through other characters. I would recommending reading. Lilliana's creativity is remarkable. The plot is enjoyable and very well written. I am impatiently waiting to read next one. Books in series - 1. I would recommend reading in order for better insight on back characters. Foolish Games isn't your average rom-com Its crazy, its sexy, its hysterical and loaded with fun and hotness and more than one wild ride! It was a pure delight and TONS of fun to read. I laughed, I swooned, I cheered and my heart got involved and the feels, my goodness the feels are just as amazing as the sexiness.
So Foolish Games is Kristian and Ronnie's story and oh boy, I definitely had a good chuckle over Ronnie and how she goes about trying to get her revenge. I just want to read ALL these books again and again until the next one is available. Jul 19, Gin rated it it was amazing. I can't believe I missed this series until now!
This story is everything I want in a great rom-com. It's witty, funny, smart and sexy with terrific writing and amazing characters. To go with the hunky bros in this fantastic story there's thieving, a little dirty, junkyard puppy, Ronnie. She's brash, ballsy and hungry for so many things. When she goes up against Kristian she meets her match and everything changes f I can't believe I missed this series until now! When she goes up against Kristian she meets her match and everything changes for her. She tilts his world and burns up his sheets. Their chemistry is sizzling and oh so hot. An enemies to lovers masterpiece.
I've got some catching up to do on the Cartwrights while waiting for the next story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. Jul 19, Pelusa Rivera rated it really liked it. Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author. And awesome as ever, we now have Kristian and Ronnie, I loved her. She kept messing with Kristian after he retrieved his car after she stole it, but when her life falls apart she wants revenge but unfortunately gets caught And then the real fun begin!
Jul 15, Jennifer Aldrich rated it it was amazing Shelves: That is what I was begging for when I finished Foolish Games. This book is a part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I have not read the two before, but trust me when I say I plan to go back and read them.
These books are HOT! I am already in love with the characters. This book is similar to an American Mafia story, but it is set in Australia and has some differences. If you like Mafia stories, give this one a try.
The plot of this story is simple. Why do they hate each other so much? You learn that throughout the book, but the hatred fuels an undeniable attraction between the two. Ronnie, aka Veronica, is such a special character. She has made some downright stupid decisions in her life, but she has survived. She is a survivor. That is what gives her the strength she has. It also gives her a mouth like a sailor that is bound to get her in trouble.
That trouble is often stealing as she is a self-proclaimed thief. Then you have Kristian. He is the definition of a rich playboy. He likes fast cars and fast women. There is also more to him than meets the eye. Is our resident thief going to be the one to get under his skin? There is a fine line between love and hate. Hatred often brings the hottest and dirtiest sex between characters.
I mean come on. So it is safe to say that the heat in this book is there in abundance. These two have chemistry that flies off the pages. The only question is, is chemistry all they have? The writing style of this book was amazing. The pace was nice and steady. The author did an amazing job of keeping the reader interested by peeling back only small layers and revealing just what the readers should know at that time.
It kept me wanting more. When I started this book, I was planning to go to bed early. I stay up to nearly 2 in the morning because I could not put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen next. Overall, this book blew my hair back in an amazing way. This book has kept me thinking about it since I read it. It has been more than a week and I still am wanting to go back and reread it. I hope the next book comes out soon because I am dying to read it. I would recommend this book to others. Jul 12, Louise rated it it was amazing Shelves: I've really enjoyed this entire series about the Cartwright Brothers, and whilst I didn't think Holland and Nate could be topped, they were by this book.
There was just something so wonderful and special about both Kristian and Ronnie that I just couldn't help falling in love with them.
If you've read Fools Rush In then you will know a little about Kristian and also about Ronnie, though less by name and more by her actions! Whilst you could read this as a stand alone, reading the previous two bo I've really enjoyed this entire series about the Cartwright Brothers, and whilst I didn't think Holland and Nate could be topped, they were by this book. Whilst you could read this as a stand alone, reading the previous two books will give some very valuable back story that would enhance reading this. The story starts with Ronnie carving a very rude word into the door of Kristian's Ute door.
He demands she work of the debt, sort of kidnapping her in the process. Ronnie's not sure if it is that bad a deal, at least she now has a roof over her head and a bed to sleep in - even if she does have to share it with Kristian! Kristian at first seemed quite full of himself, almost to the point of arrogance. However as Ronnie spent more time with him, and more time getting to know him, we really saw quite a sweet and quite soft side to this hot piece of manhood.
Ronnie is one of those strong but vulnerable and ever so slightly damaged women. The type of heroine that you want to both look after and make your best friend. Always on the outside and desperate to belong she makes some decisions that might only lead to more unhappiness. We get some really wonderful scenes where he lets Ronnie in to see the real Kristian, and some very funny ones when the pair are sniping at each other. The writing flows so smoothly, the pace was so good and the story so well written that once I started reading this I really didn't want to put it down.
These two broken parts fit together into one very beautiful whole, the author imbues her characters with such emotion and depth of feeling that I almost feel as though I know them.
The type of heroine that you want to both look after and make your best friend. This book gives us Kristian and Veronica's Ronnie story. It was great to catch up with the other Cartwright brothers note: Hatred often brings the hottest and dirtiest sex between characters. Its crazy, its sexy, its hysterical and loaded with fun and hotness and more than one wild ride! They were both ready for a change in their respective lives, although not the kind of change that meant a Note: No trivia or quizzes yet.
There are some very steamy scenes, though they were neither too long nor too frequent. Instead they helped make the developing relationship feel more believable. The book took me on a very unexpected journey, one that I was very glad I made and one that left me wanting so much more of ALL the Cartwright Brothers and their women. All Veronica ever wanted was to belong and be a part of a real family. She and Kristian have a crazy hot chemistry between them, but could it ever be more no matter how much she may want it to be?
His mom wants her dead and the rest of his brothers fall somewhere in between. When Ronnie realizes more is going on, she finds herself in the real family business. Ronnie is a walking contradiction. Finding a way to fit i with Kristian and the rest of the Cartwrights becomes her greatest wish. I thought it showed a real strength in her character.
This book has lots of heat as the chemistry between this couple burns very hot. The ending is spectacular. This romance was quite a surprise; it packed a punch, filled with amazing characters and a lot of twists and turns that had me furiously turning the pages. It was at times hilarious, the witty and funny banter had me constantly laughing, and then the story would swerve and it felt as if the bottom would drop, and make you feel every emotion you could think of. So be prepared for leaky eyes.
Lucky for me, Foolish Games is the third book in the Cartwright Brothers series and I get to go back and find out how all this deliciousness started! Just a personal note: I happen to LOVE when each chapter has a title, and these are so telling and funny. Well, she would be, if she believed in it.
The petty thief and her then boyfriend had stolen a car a year ago from the wrong person; that being Kristian Cartwright and when he took it back he made sure her awful life got worse. Kristian has a lawn service business that he operates with his brother. Or so it seems.
So when Kristian sees Ronnie violating his beloved car, the same girl who had previously stolen it, he decides she needs to be taught a more permanent lesson about messing around with a Cartwright. What matters is the part we choose to act on. Jul 19, Jen rated it it was amazing. An advanced reader copy ARC was provided by the author. The full review can be read on Dog-Eared Daydreams. One of my favorite things about this story was how Ronnie gave as much as she took from Kris and vice-versa.
"Foolish Games" is a song by American singer-songwriter Jewel from her debut studio album Pieces of You (). It was also the third single to be lifted from. Lyrics to "Foolish Games" song by Jewel: You took your coat off and stood in the rain You're always crazy like that And I watched from my win.
There wasn't a whole lot of pussyfooting or trying to ease the other person into something. With these two, there was a lot of push and pull but not the frustrating sort. They were both ready for a change in their respective lives, although not the kind of change that meant a Note: They were both ready for a change in their respective lives, although not the kind of change that meant an overhaul of who they essentially were. Being in one another's life and presence made them open their eyes to the possibilities of finding someone who absolutely got them and didn't make demands that they alter the very heart of them.
These two clicked even when they hated each other. Another thing I loved about this third Cartwright Brothers novel was how we got to know the Cartwright family members whose stories haven't been told yet. I wasn't a fan of family matriarch Jasmine but I was allowed to see her in a whole new light her and appreciated her motivations for doing what she had to for her sons.
I've got my fingers crossed that her story with a certain biker is told, even in novella or short story form. And I know that Abbot's story is up next, but I must confess that eldest brother Toby is the one I'm most curious about. With how he constantly puts his family's well-being first, I hope Toby's happy ending is epic.
Five-plus stars for Foolish Games. Jul 11, Penny Lisle rated it really liked it. Kristian and Ronnie are very similar when it comes to lifestyle choices, the only difference is Kristian has his family and Ronnie is on her own. When Ronnie decides to steal Kristian's ute from the beach and Kristian decides to steal it back, she was angry with the Cartwright family for it left her homeless living in her car.
With her current job, Ronnie is waitressing at a wedding, which happens to be a Cartwright members wedding and saw Kristian's ute in the carpark. Ronni Loving this series!! Ronnie takes it upon herself to key a word on the door and didn't get to finish, for she gets caught by Toby. Ronnie finds herself staring at the Cartwright family from a closet they had locked her in.
After some thought, Kristian decides that Ronnie should come with him and work off her debt, the cost of fixing his door, by mowing lawns for their business. What they were not counting on was them enjoying each others company and how they didn't actually hate each other. With some family obstacles, twin hostility and a big job that had to be done, Ronnie proved she is capable to Kristian and his family but still there is insecurity and pride that gets in the way, and once again Ronnie is on her own, for Cartwrights don't say SORRY or do they???????
This book is fantastic, I highly recommend it and the series, for each book is a different adventure with a Cartwright family member. Three Cartwright's down two to go, unless their mother gets a book?? Received an ARC by Lilliana. I always like to see how the other person handles it. When you mess with a Cartwright there are consequences. I think this whole song is an interpersonal battle of emotions. This person leaves her feeling vulnerable, unsure, scared at what the possibility of the rest of her life looks like without him in it, but has no choice but to keep going on. She lashes out You were too cool to care because the energy needed to go somewhere.
What a beautiful, and meaningful song. General Comment Jewel is an amazing singer. The way she expresses her feelings is amazing and very true. She sings about things that don't only orcould happen to her but also to her fans. I think she is just soo amazing and so real. This song really makes her shine brighter.
No other artist can compare to her.. It's like the guy doesn't know love or how to love.. General Comment this song is truly beautiful. General Comment when this song first came out when i was a lot younger General Comment This is deff. It has so much depth and meaning that it's almost unbelieveable.
It's about one of the reletionships that you love.. General Comment This is a really beautiful song. Even after 10 years, I can't get over it. Sometimes I feel like the guy in this song, in the sense that I'm often selfish and self-indulgent. But hey, aren't all the girls who relate this song to themselves and their own lives being self-indulgent too?
My Interpretation Looking at the lyrics through my own point of view as the "nice guy" I've always felt this song was sort of reverse friend zone of sorts. The woman in the song seems to have this infatuation with a guy who's clearly around quite a bit, but then when you get to the chorus she says she's mistaken him for someone who cared. All in all it feels very much like a situation of one side of a friendship wishing to become more while the other is not.
General Comment This is really the most beautiful song. I can listen to it again and again without ever tiring of it. Log in now to add this track to your mixtape!
