This gives her permission to keep up that kind of eccentric behavior. It also makes her introversion and dorkiness kind of cool instead of just plain weird. When not writing, she's staring out the window imagining the next scene, sewing, watching movies or begrudgingly cleaning the cat box. She successfully abandoned her two adult children and currently lives near Phoenix Arizona with her husband and two cats and puppy.
Her children have forgiven her and are moving on to bigger and better things. Get to Know Us. English Choose a language for shopping. Does she get her happily-ever-after? Read Lilyland and find out. To enter the blog hop contest for a chance to win the prize described below.

By truly indie, I mean too poor to be able to afford editors, formatters, etc.
Being able to do all this is a joy and privilege I never expected to have. Last year, I decided to republish my fist book, Another Place on the Planet. In the meantime, my mother passed away and my husband was diagnosed and then successfully treated for cancer.
I worked on other projects, finishing up book 2 of LIlyland, then doing the rough draft of book 3. Then I spent weeks and months on Word and Scrivener perfecting formatting to the best of my ability only to have it look less than wonderful when Kindle got a hold of it. I designed a new cover. There are people who do these kinds of things for indie writers and I hope in the future to be able to afford them so I can spend more time writing. I also hope that next time I make a cover or format a manuscript I can remember what I learned during the previous bouts of learning.
So, as I write this, Kindle is in the process of publishing my book.
She was not afraid to shy away from the harder subjects that people would like to forget about. I felt so much empathy for Lily as she dealt with the demons caused by her previous life. As a f This was a freebie from Goodreads FirstReads giveaways. As a former victim of domestic violence, there were many times that I could remember that part of my life where it seemed like everything caused a flashback.
This is an excellent testament of hope for people who have been her place to show, regardless of the situation, it can get better and be better. There are Christian undertones and excerpts throughout the story but not excessively and always used to highlight Lily's journey from where she was to where she ended up. I would have liked to have more detail about Charlie and what made him the way he was.

His intense therapy and rehab are mentioned but not in much detail. Perhaps if there is a sequel that part of the storyline can be developed. There were also a few part of the story that seemed to drag a little for me but after a few pages it was over. There were several times throughout the story that I found myself welling up with tears, wanting to shout at certain characters, or just to take them by the shoulders and shake them.
To me, that makes for an excellent story. Overall, an excellent read for anyone who's not afraid to recognize that all storys, people, characters and lives are not sunshine and roses. Feb 06, Shirley Abeel rated it it was amazing. Munroe is a skillful author whose story drew me in within the first few pages and kept me turning pages. This romance novel is very tastefully done and the characters are both vibrant and believable.

Too many would have taken the route of "Oh, I was This was something that I got for free on Amazon kindle.
Too many would have taken the route of "Oh, I was raped by my husband! Heal me with your body! Consider me surprised when, during one scene when Charlie tried to have sex with Lily, and she completely freaked out. And that was probably why I liked this book so much. I also felt like this book had the same approach to an attempted suicide, as well as a lot of other psychological issues that the different characters were struggling with throughout the book.
Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but man, I cannot think of a single book that I've read recently that dealt with this in such a realistic way. What I didn't like: The main love interest was a complete sleeze ball. Granted, men are like that. But Lily continued to go back to him, time after time.
And it was horrible. I wish that she'd ended up with David at least, but in the end, it was nothing but Charlie. Sure, he ended up going through what sounded like some pretty intensive and badly-needed therapy, but I wish that the ending had been different. And I seriously wish that the story had come to an end sometime around when they wrapped the filming.
Pretty much everything after "Part 3" seemed to just drag on and on, and I constantly found myself saying "Just end already! Things just seemed rushed, there were misplaced commas, missing words, and typos galore. All-in-all, I'm pretty happy that I managed to snag this, and I might be interested in reading the other books in the series, and other stuff from the author. Apr 14, T. It's the first book of the Lilyland series that chronicles Lily's life after the horrific end of her first marriage. Her romance with Charlie, even after its rough start, is not all sunshine and roses. Their careers as film directors, his addiction, even their shared faith, combine to create situations that may or may not be surmountable. In Another Place on the Planet, Lily struggles with self-confidence that To be clear, I'm the author of this book, so of course, I think it's pretty wonderful. In Another Place on the Planet, Lily struggles with self-confidence that was never what it could have been, and then was completely trashed by her abusive husband before that relationship burned.
She's surprised that she attracted the attention of Charlie Winston, a charming and popular film director from Los Angeles. She knows she has to learn to see herself in a whole new way and re-engage with her past passions of filmmaking and music to live in his world where he invited her. The question becomes will she be there with him or without him. Either way, she decides to make a go of it. Fortunately, she meets people who become supporters, friends and more, and she makes some choices she never would have made before.
