You Are a Badass at Making Money is the book you need if you've spent too much time watching money land in your bank account and then roll through your fingers. Jen Sincero went from living in a converted garage to traveling the world in five-star luxury in a matter of years and knows all too well the layers of BS one can get wrapped up in around money, as well as what it takes to dig your way out.
The world is embarking on a new age: The days of the industrial age are over. The slow dinosaurs of the industrial age are being outpaced by fast-moving start-ups, ambitious small businesses, and technological innovators. Entrepreneur Revolution is a master-class in gaining an entrepreneurial mind-set, showing you how to change the way you think, the way you network, and the way you make a living.
Successful entrepreneur Daniel Priestley will show you how to embrace the Entrepreneur Revolution and thrive in the new age. Author Daniel Priestley is a successful entrepreneur who has built and sold businesses in Australia, Singapore, and the UK. He's the founder of Entrevo, which runs a 9-month growth accelerator program for small enterprises.
Entrevo has offices in London, Melbourne, Singapore, and Tampa and works with over entrepreneurs each year to develop their business with the support of high-net-worth entrepreneurs and other celebrated business leaders. Full of self-congratulatory fluff. Would you listen to Entrepreneur Revolution again? I am about to start listening to it again already, and have only just finished it. While I always prefer the author to do the narration as you can just 'feel' the difference in passion for the subject matter, Glen narrated well enough you could almost believe he wrote the book.
Perhaps the author thought his Australian accent wouldn't have been so well accepted? Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? I'm already starting to work on the recommended activities, which are great for brainstorming and forming ideas, as well as having clear guidance of the next steps to turn the ideas into reality. Regardless of whether you are in business or not, you need to listen to this book.
The perspective it will give you on where we are at as a human race in the current day will be like nothing else you have experienced! Must read for anyone who is starting a business or has one already. Recommend reading at least twice. Great insight and knowledge for the Entrepreneur Revolution! Found this very helpful and loved the steps - have already started implementing into my business with success!
Loved all the concepts in this book and how I can apply it to my day-to-day life also. It will certainly help launching my small business off the ground and encourage me to pursue my passion! Another great book by Daniel Priestley with heaps of practical advice that makes sense and is easy enough to implement. If you want a book that has the ability to change your mind and view point this is the one, I look forward too listening to this book at least a second if not a third time.
Well worth the effort. A must read listen for anyone who has that feels that they are destined for more than then the paycheck, Who dream of a more successful and fulfilling life but are not sure how or were to start. It offers a great platform to begin the life you have dreamt all your live. What did you love best about Entrepreneur Revolution? There were a couple moments that I feel certainly changed me, which is a lot to gain from a five hour audiobook.
I am no stranger to researching entrepreneurship, and I honestly expected a lot of the same things I have heard in other books. I was pleasantly surprised to find some of my ideas challenged. This book will motivate you, if he was selling something I would have bought it! I also enjoyed some of the thought challenges and activities presented in the book. Motivation is great, but what about take away? I'll be honest, towards the mid-end I lost a little drive.
I get frustrated trying to decide how to filter, find, and develop ideas.
Come on now, that is what stops most of us from really becoming rich and successful. Felix Dennis makes many good observations in this unusual book about getting rich. It is not just a book, not just a biography, it is a financial education, a business book. The only question left is, If Felix Dennis had known he would die so early, would he have spent those decades chasing wealth, or simply followed his desire to travel and write poetry, on a more modest budget? Did it make you laugh or cry? I want to be a major contributor in the growth of the economy of Africa, because I believe in helping others.
The ending was crazy powerful to me however, and I now want to listen again. I read these books expecting to both become inspired and leave with actions I can take to making my dreams a reality. From a practical sense, I felt somewhat like the advice was geared more towards his marketing background than other business ideas. There will never be a step by step guide to creation, because your business and life is untrodden ground.
Bottom line is its worth 5 hours of your life, and I look forward to more listens and gems of knowledge gained. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? It is a wonderful book, especially to anyone who is thinking of becoming an entrepreneur. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am currently listening to it for the 2nd time, some parts i've heard about 7 times. What other book might you compare Entrepreneur Revolution to and why?
Haven't read any books that compare yet. Excellent reading by Glen McCready. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? I think the title is perfect, gripping: Entrepreneur Revolution, sounds like Atlas Shrugged. I am directing a Municipal Entrepreneurship Center in a developing country. Needless to say, the challenges we are facing are huge, but so are the opportunities. I am also a mentor for this center, and I have to admit sometimes I run out of ideas.
That is until I downloaded this audiobook. It is completely filled with valuable tips, strategies and insights that I have found very helpful. From the "product ecosystem" to the "7 maxims" that every entrepreneur should follow, I enjoyed every second. I absolutely recommend it for anyone who is thinking about joining the entrepreneur revolution. It was filled with so many insights and valuable pieces of information that it will take more than one sitting to fully digest! What was one of the most memorable moments of Entrepreneur Revolution? Clear and matter of fact. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Had to space it over two days though.. Highly recommend this book for everyone. It opens a vision of an abundant life possible to those willing to put the effort in, and with access to a little luck.. A very insightful and practical book that has changed the way I view my business and the opportunities that our global market has A must read for anyone at any stage of business to thrive in the new economy.
It has helped me focus on the joy of creating and not consuming, plus given me a strategic road map to bring greater value to my clients and profit to my bottom line. Not much else to say about it unfortunately. If there was more to say, I'd say it. This is the first book that I've ever read on business and I must say, I'm blown away by the content that this book holds. If you want to get a fresh perspective on being an Entrepreneur in the world we live in this book is a must read. I do not tend to recommend many books but this one is an amazing way to renew your Entrepreneurial spirit and view point.
Buy it, you won't regret it. I'm grateful to Daniel for sharing his experience, insight and expertise with me through this book. I feel enlightened to what I need to do to move from a struggler to a lifestyle business, with pointers as to the most worthwhile focus of time and energy. If you're a budding entrepreneur like me, dive in, it's worth the time. Top Reviews Most recent Top Reviews. There was a problem filtering reviews right now.
Please try again later. Dennis has died, I'll add my review. He spends the first two-thirds of the book telling you why you probably do NOT really want to get rich. He's quite convincing, and he convinced me of what I already sensed: I don't care enough about the benefits of riches to pay the price to be wealthy.
I already have all I need. But I read the rest of the book anyway, because he's an entertaining writer. He does tell you how to get rich, and warns you that it won't make you any happier or more content, but it will give you more choices. The only question left is, If Felix Dennis had known he would die so early, would he have spent those decades chasing wealth, or simply followed his desire to travel and write poetry, on a more modest budget?
This is an awesome book. It isn't a step by step book to riches but more of a common sense guide. Sometimes a little preachy but I loved how it covers a great deal of in depth details. My husband read the book years ago and kept recommending it to me. I'm an entrepreneur but my business seems to move slowly. This book helps you figure out for yourself where your weaknesses are. Maybe a little tough to read if you feel like you already know everything, but essential read if you expect to be successful.
Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Since I grew up in my career in high tech at the same time as Mr. Dennis built his fortune I could relate to everything he explained about how his success with the first computer trade pubs and Maxim produced his rise to the ranks of the rich and somewhat famous. This is a somewhat gritty tale told from a heavy British viewpoint but is nonetheless an accurate description of what's needed to become rich.
I didn't say successful or happy, because these have nothing to do with getting rich as you will hear from Felix throughout. Sprinkled with heavy doses of his poetry to savor a point or illustrate required thinking and action, this book isn't an easy or particularly fun read, I found myself wondering if I really wanted to finish it at several points only because of the colloquialisms he spouts while telling his tale which may require stopping to figure out what he actually meant. But, other than that, he does a great job laying out the steps to becoming rich which may surprise the get rich self-help reader who follows this topic, voraciously reading every popular book on the subject.
It may make you think again if that's your real goal - getting rich. Felix says that he can understand looking back why others chose different paths with raising a family, devoting themselves to a worthy cause or non-profit, because he himself really wonders if it was worth it He shares with you in the book what a real bummer or hassle that having money brings including a long list of needed advisers, financial advisers, tax advisers, supportive well wishers who seek hand-outs, charities, not to mention the minute details and fine print of the tax laws that you'll need to get extra very familiar with.
He surmises as do many other rich people like him, not surprisingly, that most of the path to riches is paved by those who ACT.
That's why he feels that there's so much room for those who do and turn it to riches because there is hardly any competition around anyone that's acting. There are lots of ways of becoming or being rich which he outlines in the book, but the most powerful points he feels are: Oh, there's more to it than that of course, but you'll have to read for yourself. I gave this a 4 star because it was a good tale of truth but it didn't say anything all that new or amazing. I liked the story because I could relate to the time period and to my own reactions to the experiences I personally had during that same time as I took my turn at becoming rich.
It was accurate based on my experiences But the hardest part then becomes keeping it. Felix Dennis makes many good observations in this unusual book about getting rich. It is unusual because unlike so many other books on the topic it is written by someone who actually got rich from businesses other than writing books about becoming rich. This book also does not talk about the law of attraction, unless it's his law of attraction where you work long and hard for many years on the right business and then the money is attracted to you.
Here are a few things I liked about this book. He speaks clearly about fear. Come on now, that is what stops most of us from really becoming rich and successful.
His supply of confidence was dwindling, too. Woeppel stopped leaving his house. Anxious and low on self-esteem, he started eating too much--and put on 50 pounds. Sometimes he sought temporary relief in an old addiction: Through it all, he kept working to develop new services. He just hoped his company would hang on long enough to sell them. In , customers started to return.
Pinnacle scored its biggest-ever contract, with an aerospace manufacturer, on the basis of a white paper Woeppel had written during the downturn. Sales are up more than 5, percent since , earning the company a spot at No.
Woeppel says he's more resilient now, tempered by tough times. And you find out that your kids still love you. Your wife still loves you. Your dog still loves you. But for many entrepreneurs, the battle wounds never fully heal. He was 90 days late on his car payment.
He was 75 days behind on the mortgage. The IRS had filed a lien against him. His home phone, cell phone, and cable TV had all been turned off.
In less than a week, the natural-gas company was scheduled to suspend service to the house he shared with his wife and daughters. Then there would be no heat. His company was expecting a wire transfer from the oil company Shell, a strategic investor, after months of negotiations had ended with a signed page contract.
The wire arrived the next day. Pope--along with his company--was saved. Afterward, he made a list of all the ways in which he had financially overreached. Since then, WellDog has taken off: But emotional residue from the years of tumult still lingers. You feel like every time you build up security, something happens to take it away. Pope sometimes catches himself emotionally overreacting to small things. It's a behavior pattern that reminds him of posttraumatic stress disorder. That just comes with the scar tissue of going through these things.

Though launching a company will always be a wild ride, full of ups and downs, there are things entrepreneurs can do to help keep their lives from spiraling out of control, say experts. Most important, make time for your loved ones, suggests Freeman. When it comes to fighting off depression, relationships with friends and family can be powerful weapons. And don't be afraid to ask for help--see a mental health professional if you are experiencing symptoms of significant anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, or depression.
Freeman also advises that entrepreneurs limit their financial exposure. When it comes to assessing risk, entrepreneurs' blind spots are often big enough to drive a Mack truck through, he says.
The consequences can rock not only your bank account but also your stress levels. So set a limit for how much of your own money you're prepared to invest. And don't let friends and family kick in more than they can afford to lose. Cardiovascular exercise, a healthful diet, and adequate sleep all help, too. So does cultivating an identity apart from your company.
