I was so happy to find this little gem! The hotel is modern, beautifully designed and executed and extremely clean. Unlike any place I stayed in Lisbon where the service reminded me of dial up in the 's. All the staff were friendly and bent over backwards to accommodate our requests, they were able to rent us scooters even though everywhere else on the island had no scooters.

The room is modern, clean and comfortable, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. The shower is wonderful, not only was the pressure great but had two shower heads and we are looking into buying a similar shower now. The pool was clean and secluded. It's a cute hotel with a modern style and good location right in Vila do Porto. The property was very clean and well kept including the pool. The best part about of our stay was the staff who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and felt welcome, every person we interacted with was so friendly and accommodating!

The breakfast was also very good and fresh! We will definitely come back to Charming Blue!

Santa Maria is the most beautiful island I've ever seen and the Charming Blue is the best hotel I've ever been to as a single person. Dear staff, thanks to all of you, especially the reception staff, for a great vacation, I won't forget you. Don't be mislead by its map position which suggests it is not central - the port itself is down a hill from the main town and Charming Blue is indeed central.

Perfect both as a base to explore Santa Maria and as a place to relax and read in the lovely pool area. Very fairly priced for the quality and we would definitely go back. Apparently the company is opening a second hotel in Pico at the end of the year which would be in our plans when we return to visit the western island group.

Friendly staff minus the male manager of the restaurant. He seemed to have an attitude. Good location in the center of Vila do Porto, helpful staff. The bedroom didn't have a separate window, so one had to leave the balcony door open to get fresh air overnight, although this wasn't an issue as we encountered no mosquitoes, just a few house flies. We found the decor in the restaurant dining room , stairwells and outside by the swimming pool to be modern and minimalistic, but not 'charming' as such.

We would have liked to see some pictures , photographs or artefacts from the past to help provide more ambience. We had a quiet room with a small balcony on the second floor with comfy beds and nice views over the pool towards the hills, fields and windfarm beyond,..

Staff were excellent - knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel's rental bicycles were good vfm, especially as they had different frame sizes , and safety helmets were included. Although it is only a few km from the airport, we heard no aircraft noise. Everything else was excellent.

THE PERFECT HOTEL ON A PERFECT ISLAND

Shower very hard to control. Weird frosted glass screen between bathroom and bedroom rather off-putting. Breakfast had rubbish hot drinks and cold scrambled eggs. Reasonable sized room with desk,. Ideal location in Vila del Porto, spotless, peaceful, very comfortable with very good facilities and extremely friendly staff.

Had to request extra pillows only 2 provided for a couple. The room was only powered by the key card so you couldnt leave phones charging while out. Breakfast does start a little later than in some hotels 8am and there is no coffee service in the room, so be prepared if you are a coffee fanatic with an early morning: Very friendly and helpful staff!

Very nice breakfast buffet, nice hotel pool. Not much seating in the breakfast area, hope it is enough when the hotel is fuller The staff is very friendly and attentive. Very confortable and calm for a perfect night sleep. Nice and clean, excellent service from personnel very friendly and helpful.

I couldn't have found a more perfect spot in Santa Maria! This is the place to stay. Maybe the most charming hotel ever! Modern clean and well cared for a fairly new hotel. They were booked solid when I wanted to return after going to Lisbon.
