I'd have to say this is the funniest cookbook I've ever read. And I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting.
The author has an informal writing style that makes this book anything but dry. It just oozes personality. Last summer, I actually scoured the Internet looking for a recipe to make cherry-infused alcohol of some sort, since I have the harvest of 3 cherry trees to deal with annually. It was difficult to find good information on this subject in context.
They made great Christmas gifts, and after reading this book, I finally have some recipes on how to use them. It gave me a glimpse into the Victorian lifestyle. As for an actual drink mixing guide, it looked straight forward and easy enough to follow.
