I was hoping the ending was just as it was. Loved this book, ideal with a hot chocolate on a wintery night.
Recipe also included at the end. Short and sweet Nice story line. Liked the way the lives of the main characters merged and veered off and on again. Enjoyed the intervention of the book store owner, too. Could picture Bob Newhart in a made for movie role.
Editorial Reviews. From the Author. Right Under My Nose - Short Stories with a Purpose began on thebackseat of my husband's motorcycle while we were on. Right Under My Nose was created to help children with spina bifida With a fully interactive story, activities, tips, and a printable version of the whole book, this.
Didn't hold my attention Perhaps it was the odd names, such as a man named "Jess" and a woman named "Ariadne", but I was bored from page one. The dialogue was too forced, and there were too many typos for a novella. This is such a charming book - perfect read for Xmas.
Really loved the characters and laughed along. Will be reading this author in the future. Short Didn't realize this was a novella. But I hate to say I'm glad it was short because I wasn't really happy with the book. I finished it anyway but not that great. This book was really adorable and magical. It was well written with charming characters. A nice quick holiday read. Short and sweet and delightfully Christmasy. I always love Christmas romances with a bit of magic, and this one doesn't disappoint.
Fun Christmas Read Fun, cute Christmas read. A good short story and a very quick read! Let the Christmas magic inspire us to enjoy the season. I enjoyed this one. The dynamics of the characters was so fun to read. It made me laugh out loud. Fairly predictable but a good Christmas story nonetheless.
I wish I knew a bookstore like the one in the book!!! Not the first book I've read by Holly and it won't be the last either. Ariadne Daniels is a 26year old successful pastry chef, who has a lovely Victorian home in a popular neighbourhood. She and her boyfriend Scott have been together for years, and life seems pretty good for them. Things become all unraveled when Ariadne catches Scott cheating on her and they break up. No tree, no stockings, no gifts, no Christmas cookies. And definitely no carolling! The appearance of a quirky little bookstore and its friendly- if not a little eccentric, owner; brings a little mystery and magic into her life.
Some things are not quite what they appear to be- and especially when a sly schemer is at work. Will Ariadne be able to expose them for who they truly are? What is it about the mysterious bookstore and its owner that surprises Ariadne? What does the future hold for her?
Will she realise that what she needs was right under her nose the whole time? This is a perfect, short Christmas story packed with fun, magic and a heap of charm. Tierney-Bedord has her own unique style and always delivers an entertaining and original story. This book is well written and quite detailed for such a quick read. There were a few sad moments through the book, but it also had me laughing at other times.
The story is fast paced and flows smoothly, although I did feel as if the ending may have been a little rushed. The characters were all well thought out and fully developed. The story is a standalone and ends with a HEA. So allow yourself an hour or two, curl up with a hot chocolate or a glass of wine and dive into this heart-warming read. Christmas can be hard on a lot of people because they suffer from depression and the holidays remind them of happier times.
When Laurel insists that she come to her play the following night, she reluctantly agrees to go. When she sees the other costar, she causing a seen and her family and Jess get embarrassed by it. When her mother decides to have, her house decked out with Christmas lights and when her friend comes home she reluctantly agrees to Christmas.
In the end, Jess and Ariadne finally realize that they love each other more than just friends. Holly Tierney-Bedord writes hilarious romances that will leave you wondering what is going on. Not only will you fall in love with the novel but the author as well.
Dec 14, A. I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked the characters in this book, especially one of the side characters whom we meet a little later in the book who is an elderly man that owns a bookstore. I thought the main character, Ariadne, was a hard working young woman who's pretty pissed off at her ex-boyfriend and therefore, decides she'll be skipping Christmas this year and avoid anything that's merry or holly jolly.
She did come across as a bit s 3. She did come across as a bit self-centered and immature, acting like a teen trapped in a woman's body, but I felt she redeemed herself as she learned throughout the book that there's a lot more going on around her than she realizes. I also really liked Jess because he seemed like a really loyal and funny friend and the romance between the two was nice and sweet, maybe needing just a little more fleshing out but still, I enjoyed it.
I loved that this novella was mainly dialogue and maybe it was a creative touch or simply because it is a very short book but either way, I really enjoyed it. The dialogue kept the story moving, only broken up by little simple descriptions of the settings, people, emotions etc. I've never really read a book that was mainly dialogue so it was a nice change. Even novellas that I've read before I felt could've done without so much description and I think this book was a great example of limiting description to only what is needed.
I didn't give this book a five-star rating because while I thought it was fun and quick, funny and light, I did wish it was a few pages longer. I thought the ending could have used another chapter or two to tie everything together nicely and avoid feeling rushed. I thought the book had a nice pace throughout until the ending that felt a little sudden. Ariadne thinks she has it all, the job, the perfect house, the money, the love of her life. Until one day she goes to see her boyfriend and finds him in bed with another woman.
Distraught that this could happen she moves all her stuff out of his flat and cancels Christmas as she is to depressed. Everyone including her best friend Jess tries to bring her out of her funk with no luck. One day she is walking home when she stumbles across a book shop that she has not seen before called Right Under Your Nose, owned by an old man who offers advice to her. Jess loves his family, his best friend, has a successful business and now a beautiful girlfriend to boot.
He and Ariadne have been best friend since birth, where one was the other one was as well. He is trying to get Ariadne to celebrate Christmas with no luck, giving up he decides that he is going to concentrate on his new relationship with his girlfriend and forget about old feelings that are resurfacing for Ariadne. One day he is walking along the street and stumbles across and old book shop which he has never noticed before called Right Under Your Nose. Holly Tierney-Badord has written a good book, I just found that I was confused with what was going on, I had to read a few chapters twice for it to sink in.
Right under your nose by Holly Tierney-Bedord.
The theme of this book is when two friends are brought together by an old book shop owner who passed away three years before. This is a novella. Ariadne is a chef who has had her heart broken. She leans on her BFF but when he finds a girlfriend that goes down the drain.
Her life is changed when she meets the owner of Right Under Your Nose. The quote I chose for her shows that she's not doing Christmas this year: Of co Right under your nose by Holly Tierney-Bedord. Of course I don't like my surprise. I've told you a hundred times that I'm not celebrating Christmas this year! He brings his girlfriend to Thanksgiving at his parents house and things go downhill. His life is changed when he finds out the truth.
The quote I chose for him is when he wants to break it off with his fiancee: I mean, that ought to get the point across, right? I really liked everything about the book. I felt so many emotions throughout the book. I was instantly in the book from the beginning. I highly recommend this if you holiday romances.
Check out this amazing author, series and any books she has. Right Under Your Nose by Holly Tierney Bedford is a Christmas Novella about Ariadne Daniels, a baker, and her escapades after finding her boyfriend in a compromising position with another woman.
This is a great little story that will have you feeling the Christmas spirit. My only gripe is that I wish it were longer! Throw in an elderly bookstore owner who just happens to know exactly what Ariadne is missing in her life and some magical moments ensue. This is a great novella to while away an afternoon on the couch with your favorite blanket and hot beverage, I recommend you try it. This is a quick read with a little holiday and a magical twist.
Definitely a 4 star Christmas read. This story is about Ariadne our h who just went through a breakup and has decided to skip the holidays. Her best friend Jess our H has always liked her but the timing has never been quite right. A spirited old man with a little magic steps in to help these two find their way.
But all in all this was a nice holiday read. This is a HEA with no cliffhanger: I absolutely loved the banter between Ariadne and her mother and the bickering between Ariadne and Jess. I enjoyed the magical aspect of the book store owner. Overall the book was entertaining as two childhood best friends grow up, have relationships with others, then one day realize that they belong together. This is a nice, quick, Christmas read.
