The premise was good, the writing mediocre, and the results not at all what I was hoping for. Patti O'Shea was all over the map with her heroine, Kimi.

Kimi is a witch, but at first she doesn't know she is, except that her family tells her that she is, and she works at an agency that is filled with magic-wielding women AND she's called kijo, which is Japanese for witch She maintains that she doesn't know until she runs into this villainous demon, Aug The premise was good, the writing mediocre, and the results not at all what I was hoping for.

She maintains that she doesn't know until she runs into this villainous demon, Augustin which I just can't take seriously, not only because of the name, but because he doesn't do anything more sinister than sneer--well, so did Snidely Whiplash, and he made for a much better villain in my humble opinion , does she suddenly know how to make her magic work.

At least enough to get away. She runs to an old wanna-be flame for help God save me from heroes named Nicodemus--he'll always be the wizardly old rat from the Rats of N. I want the two hours I spent reading it back! Take a good hard look at how I've written this review, because this is how the story reads. It is jumbled and confusing, to the characters every bit as much as the readers, and apparently to the author too. When Kimi runs to Nic, she tells him she uses magic to get away from Augustin Nope, still can't take him seriously and yet a short time later Nic is upset with Kimi because she didn't tell him she has powers.

If the author can't keep her own storyline straight, how are we supposed to? I really expected better from a nationally bestselling author. May 04, Melissa rated it it was amazing.

She is interning at a Los Angeles advertising firm. The first thing that struck her when she started was that it was all woman; then she found out that they were all majo, and that she was one too. Now she is in training. Getting very board with the fact that all she is learning is ethics, rules, and consequences, but no actual magic usage yet.

A Dark One, a Bak-Faru, comes after her. With her cousin on her honeymoon halfway around the world she has no hope but to call on Nicodemus. When he is in San Francisco one night finishing up a drink trying not to think of Kimi, he suddenly finds himself in her front room, having been summoned. He finds out she is being attacked by the Bak-Faru, so puts himself in front of her. Kimi learns a lot about love, men, the varying types of demons and the vishtau-mating during this book.

Series was designed to cover groups of books generally understood as such see Wikipedia: Like many concepts in the book world, "series" is a somewhat fluid and contested notion.

A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations , on the part of the author or publisher. For now, avoid forcing the issue with mere "lists" of works possessing an arbitrary shared characteristic, such as relating to a particular place. Avoid series that cross authors, unless the authors were or became aware of the series identification eg.

Dark Awakening

Also avoid publisher series, unless the publisher has a true monopoly over the "works" in question. So, the Dummies guides are a series of works. But the Loeb Classical Library is a series of editions, not of works. I liked that it was about how people are coping with the changes. The beginning was very hot! Enjoyable story, love between supposed opposites. Overall good anthology that on par with the rest of the series I've listened to so far. Narrators did great job. Read the first story-A Time to Howl which was ok, but it was your typical virgin werewolf princess kidnapped by common werewolf and they fall in love, he nearly dies and happy ever after. Not the most exciting read in the world but it passed an hour. Quit and didn't read 3 and 4. May 11, Jennifer Wardrip rated it liked it Shelves: Although they're romantic and steamy, and bring back familiar characters, they didn't feel finished.

I usually enjoy anthologies of short stories, but it seems that when it deals with the vampires, werewolves, demons, and other assorted lot who inhabit Crimson City, longer is definitely better.
