It is a very useful and necessary tool for success. What do you do when you read a book?

Most often, without being aware, you visualize the scene, actions, and people you are reading about. When you have a problem to solve, you visualize various kinds possible scenarios. When you explain to someone how to arrive to a certain place, you visualize the road, where to turn, where to cross a street, and you also visualize the destination.

Often , unconsciously, you see in your mind the steps necessary to take, when you have a task or chore to accomplish. Include all the senses in your imagination and make it rich. Some of us are visual learners while others are kinesthetic and others learn best while reading and writing. Make your imagination vivid by including what comes naturally to you. For example, you may not be able to imagine sequences of images very well but you may excel in imagining other modalities such as smell, touch and sound. You may be excellent in infusing your visualization with emotional charge and great feelings. DO not feel compelled to stay within any single modality but make your visualizations and imagination vivid and rich by including numerous modalities.

Your senses are wonderful tools for you to engage while unleashing the power of the imaginative mind. Make it colorful and exciting. Make your imagination your personal ally and your best friend. Visualize and imagine in vivid colors, with an exciting emotional spark and by engaging all the senses that you can summon.

Deep within you is the realm of the little child where imagination runs rife and anything is possible. It is an area where endless curiosity is encouraged and mistakes are laughed away. It is the realm of your inner child. And most of us were highly imaginative, enthusiastic and had an element of magical thinking when we were children. Make a safe zone where the inner child can express itself without criticism and judgment. Focus on What You Want: This might sound simple enough but is critical to creating the reality of your choice. Focus on good health, not on "not wanting" your illness. Focus on wealth and abundance, not on "not wanting" to be in debt. You get the picture and so will your mind. When what you want or intend to create is contradicted by an underlying negative belief, then you can use a simple technique to by-pass such limiting beliefs called the Mental Focus By-Product Method. The trick is to place your mental focus on something that is a by-product of what you want but not specifically what you want.

In other words, mentally focus on something that you do not have a specific negative belief about but, that in order to experience it, you must also have that which you actually want. Imagine in the Present Moment: As you learn to use your imagination, always imagine your intended outcome in the present moment during your creative visualization sessions.

Imagine yourself being, doing and having that which you intend to experience. This is a critical step when learning to use your imagination. By imagining that you are experiencing your mental choice in the present moment, you are programming your subconscious mind to create the new image you imprint on it. In contrast, by keeping your images in the future, your choices will stay there; in the future and just out of reach.

Know that by imagining something in the present moment you are actually creating it in the mental and spiritual realm which is where anything is created before it can appear in the physical realm. Ultimately, you want to reach a level of visualization where you can see, hear, touch, smell and even taste that which you have chosen to experience, indulging all your physical senses. A good way to train yourself to use your imagination in this way is to start with a familiar object.

Practice with different objects such as your favourite fruit, a rose or something as inanimate as a rock or the key to your front door. Study them intently in your waking state then close your eyes, relax and bring their respective images to your mind.
